NASA says Antarctica is losing 147 gigatons of ice a year. With 26,500,000 gigatons of ice in the continent, this is an annual loss of 0.0005%. At the current ice melt it will all be gone in about 200,000 years.

According to a new poll, the public vastly overestimates the size of minority groups. Britons believe 20% of the population is black, 15% Muslim and 15% gay or lesbian. The real figures are 3%, 4% and 1.8% respectively.
