Scotland to Extend Pandemic Restrictions Including Mask Mandates and Vaccine Passports for Further Six Months

Inspired perhaps by Boris Johnson’s announcement of the approaching end of pandemic restrictions in England, the Scottish Government has said its Covid powers are to be extended for a further six months. The current restrictions in Scotland cover self-isolation, mask mandates, vaccine passports and a requirement for businesses and services to take steps to minimise the spread of the virus. BBC News has more.

Legislation mandating face coverings and vaccine passports was due to expire on February 28th.

However, this looks set to be pushed back to September 24th, with Deputy First Minister John Swinney saying it was important to keep options on the table.

Scottish ministers will continue to assess the rules every three weeks, with the next review on February 22nd.

The move came hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the end date for restrictions in England could be brought forward to later this month.

England’s restrictions, including the legal requirement for self-isolation, are due to expire on March 24th – but Mr Johnson said this could happen “a full month early”. …

Mr Swinney stressed that this did not mean curbs “would necessarily remain in force until September”, and that they would continue to be reviewed on a three-weekly basis.

However, the Deputy First Minister said ministers “believe it is necessary to retain the availability of these baseline measures for now while we review our ongoing response to Covid”.

Mr. Swinney also questioned whether Mr. Johnson’s announcement was based on clinical advice or was “more to do with the survivability of the current Prime Minister in office”.

Supreme Leader Nic Sturge-on claimed “basic protections” had helped get the virus under control and could help keep it under control in future. However, with recent meta-analyses of the effectiveness of lockdowns and face masks finding little or no benefit, and a woeful lack of real-world data that vaccine passports reduce transmission, it’s not clear what evidence she was relying on for these claims.

Astonishing. These Scottish leaders have no self awareness whatsoever. Expect Drakeford to follow.

They do… The covid cult is deeply embedded up here. Honestly think the vast majority of my fellow Scots do actually think the SNP are doing a grand job and are totally on board with the Rona narrative.

So far removed from the hard working, robust folk I knew some years ago- I keep wondering why the Scots are so supportive of Sturgeon when almost everything she does is pushing them towards the edge of a very steep cliff.

Sorry, but this isn’t a covid cult, this is a sadistic, tyrannical regime now beginning to flex its authoritarian muscle to the full.

Indeed, much of Scotland’s get up and go long since got up and went.

What’s left, and what’s being imported is… not very brave.

Nah never been so ashamed to be Scottish… As Mark Renton once said…

“It’s SHITE being Scottish! We’re the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don’t. They’re just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can’t even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We’re ruled by effete assholes. It’s a SHITE state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won’t make any fucking difference.”

There’s an awful lot of truth in what Irvine/Renton says. What Sturgeon is playing to is the idea that we are are a nation. But we are a country of individuals, born anywhere, with the main distinguishing feature that we have form for out of the box thinking, particularly in science. Nationalism, never a good word, is the extinction of precisely what makes us Scottish, our individuality, and dark edgy character.
Go on, treat us like sheep, Nicola. If you succeed, you’ll have extinguished the very Scottish thing worth preserving.

Boris Johnson can only survive as prime minister if his political decisions don’t lead to the kind of catastrophe Sturgeon et al claim to be preventing with their’s. IOW, that’s a tacit admission that the Scottish public health policies are pointless insofar their stated goals are concerned.

I won’t be travelling to any country that requires my asthmatic 7 year old son to wear a face mask. Even the country of my birth. My Scottish family and friends can come and visit me. Or not.

She’s not acting alone – there’s her bodyguards, and everyone else who agrees with her and who are implementing the ‘measures/rules/laws’.

Anyway…. let’s face it, it’s not going to be “just another 6 months”, is it? This is forever. No country is removing all Covid restrictions. Not one. Here is your New World Order – and signing an on-line petition or sending an e-mail to your local MP isn’t going to get rid of it.
One day this will be seen as ‘harrassing your MP’ and you can expect punishment for even daring to question what they are up to.

I did. In response I received a Cease & Desist letter, basically telling me that if I contacted my MP again I could be arrested. Conservative too. I believe this is a tactic MPs have been using to stop avalanche of Mail they have been getting. Outrageous, but it won’t be forgotten during election time, no matter how far away that is. These people and SAGE need to be held to account.

Please can all those who don’t want to see vaccine mandates either via the back door with regulators or via coercion, please complete the government consultation:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/revoking-vaccination-as-a-condition-of-deployment-across-all-health-and-social-care

Its vital we ensure informed consent for vaccination. Coercion and mandates preclude consent.

Scots are no more stupid than English on the whole but, and I’m sad to say this as an expat Scot, the desire to be not like the English is so all-consuming amongst many Scots that it extends even as far as inflicting draconian and destructive health legislation on your own country for far longer than is necessary, just to be different from the Westminster Tories.

1) Since my ancestry on my father’s side is Scottish, I suggest the use of a claymore …

… but …

2) given my avatar and location of military service, I’d further suggest it be one of those claymores used on the perimeters of our firebases, like at Khe Sanh.

It would not ‘clear the air’, but sure as hell would clear the political arena, and for quite a ways out.

No surprise but once again we will see a natural experiment which will falsify this as a a public health measure, and demonstrates that it’s about control. . England will go forward after two years to normality, Scotland and Wales will with the help of the MSM etc continue to ring the plague bell. Cases will fall and there will be no crisis but (though they are probably rain dancing right now for a new variant). Increasingly though people are realising this is about control and the rule of bureaucrats and grifters who pretend to be experts.. The odious WHO lackey Jason Leitch, speaks for all of them when he says “it might Omicron might be over but Covid it’s not over”. To paraphrase the great Ken Wostenholme “Some people are still on the podium, they don’t think it’s all over…it is now.”
