Boris to Declare End of Mask Mandate and Social Distancing Rules

The Prime Minister has signed off plans to end the legal requirement to wear masks as of July 19th, according to the Telegraph, saying that the link between COVID-19 infections and hospitalisations has been broken.

Mr Johnson is expected to lay out a blueprint for how England will live with the virus, as ministers prepare to replace swathes of legal restrictions with a call for “common sense” and “personal responsibility”.

As part of the move, the Government is expected to ditch the compulsory wearing of masks, along with the one-metre-plus rule that pubs and restaurants have warned is crippling them.

Announcing the changes this week, an increasingly bullish Mr Johnson is expected to cite recent data and modelling to declare that, while infection rates will rise as restrictions are eased, the successful roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines means that the numbers of hospitalisations and deaths are no longer rising at the same scale as before.

The latest data are believed to have given the Prime Minister the confidence that the legal requirement to wear face masks is among measures that can be lifted without the risk of the NHS coming under “unsustainable pressure”.

If true, this is a welcome move from the Prime Minister, who continues to come under pressure from various quarters to keep restrictions in place.

Exactly what life will look like after July 19th, and what guidance will remain in place that becomes essentially mandatory once lawyers and insurers get involved, remains to be seen. There are also questions about the future of international travel, which is sliding fast towards a system of privileges for the elite and preferential treatment for the vaccinated with no clear end point in sight. Then there is the uncertainty of what may happen come autumn and winter now that lockdowns have been established as an acceptable tool of infection control and healthcare management.

But for now it seems that things are finally moving in the right direction, with a rare show of spine from the once outspoken libertarian in Number 10. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Not exactly a big risk removing a mandate on something that never made a blind bit of difference to transmission of the virus. No doubt they will still be “encouraged” anyway.

Mandate. Not law. There is no legal requirement to wear a mask anywhere.

Yep, the Government would never pass a law that restricted everyones breathing, the self exemption prevents anyone from suing the Government, yet the sheep can’t see that!

What gets me is the BMA is still pushing face masks, they damn well know they don’t stop viruses.

I had a big falling out with the doctor’s receptionist and subsequently the nurse who was seeing me a couple of weeks ago as I tried (in vain) to refuse their insistence on my wearing a perspex visor (having explained I’m exempt). I didn’t lose my temper, or swear or become aggressive; just firmly and repeatedly countered their insistence with my own, valid claim that I do not need to wear ANY form of face covering. It was utterly demoralising in every way – they as medical professionals know better than anyone else that masks are useless yet they slavishly (and sinisterly?) adhere to these nonsensical ‘rules’. A couple of days later when I returned to collect some test results, there was a huge, typed in shouty capitals notice pinned up at reception saying they do not tolerate any dissent from patients regarding the wearing of face coverings; do as you’re told, or else. Truly outrageous, but seemingly overwhelmingly predictable. Doctors are part of the plan to keep us all compliant….

I went to the dentist last week expecting the same. I was offered one but when I explained that I don’t wear masks there was no protest and I walked straight in. I have just remembered that they didn’t test my temperature either, as they have done previously.

Think private companies (as most dentists effectively are) know when to back off and not antagonise paying customers. Sadly the sainted NHS feels at liberty to dismiss the concerns of the individuals who pay for it more indirectly. Totalitarianism dressed up as ‘keeping safe’…..

I have had a similar problem, at the medical centre and at a local pharmacy. When I arrived for an appointment at our local hospital without a mask I was asked to wear a perspex visor instead, which they provided, and which I now wear for subsequent appointments (I don’t like it but at least I can breathe).

However, both the medical centre and the pharmacy refuse to admit me without a mask – despite the fact that I wore the visor given me by the hospital. A letter to the practice manager of the medical centre was ignored, so I’ve decided to put in an official complaint.

I don’t wear a mask – or a visor – anywhere else and have only had one other challenge to my ‘exempt’ status. In all three cases they were women, bossy, haughty and full of themselves.

I work in a GP surgery and loathe masks! have been forced to wear a visor all day for over a year. We don’t ‘insist’ pts wear a mask, that said most people without one have been wearing the sunflower lanyard.

If this turns out to be the case then I’m delighted for people in England, but ask you to spare a thought for those of us still living under a dictatorship in other parts of the U.K.
Although I choose not to wear a mask (rather than being exempt) the rules here in Scotland still affect me as I avoid shops, e.g. Primark where there is a member of staff stood by the door trying to enforce the rules. I also have low self confidence so don’t want to go into premises where I’m not sure to what extent not wearing a mask will be challenged. I only hope that Boris removing all requirements, and hopefully not even recommending wearing masks will make it harder for Comrade Nic to maintain her position, and life North of the border can also get back to normal.

And, by special intervention of the devil, it has landed us with the little puddle of filth now polluting the country from its centre in Cathedral Road.

Never mind devolution, they were left behind long ago by evolution.

I don’t trust the scoundrel. We need an end to the so-called public health emergency. If not, measures can be arbitrarily re-imposed.
Could it be that, as the ‘cases’ are rising (because of multiple LFT tests on jabbees whose immune systems have been tackling spike proteins?) he might reintroduce masks when the cases rise further still? He would then claim that he has tried his best but the lifting of the measures failed. Of course, the fact that such phoney ‘cases’ are meaningless in terms of health, hospitalisation and death would be neatly side-stepped.

Masks are an easy PR win to remove given there’s still no RCT data showing any benefit what-so-ever to the things so its essentially a zero risk move (but popular).

Cases will sky rocket. We know that. It doesn’t matter but they will.
All over 40s are vaccinated with the fairly useless AstraZenica where only about 60% are prevented from infection.
But its not a problem – nobody is going to hospital, nobody is going to ICU and nobody is dying. The NHS is not and cannot be overwhelmed.

That said he’s a dishonest, lying twat so may just do none of the above and keep things just because he’s terrified of everything these days.

Texas doesnt yet have 617.2 in large amounts and importantly is using vaccines that are highly effective at reducing infection.
We have 617.2 as the only variant and use AstraZenica as a majority vaccine which is woefully inadequate protecting against transmission.

The UK is going to have a much higher, much longer exit wave than any other developed nation as a result. Poor choice of majority vaccine.

Farage’s assessment of him as a political chameleon is absolutely spot on. Johnson has studied the Clinton/Blair playbook very well. He knows that, in order to keep getting elected, you must say exactly what the public wants to hear. Hence his pretensions of Libertarianism, Pro-Brexitism and Pro-Trumpism when previously and subsequently he’s held positions completely contrary to all of those.

The ending of the face-mask laws but their replacement with ‘strong’ guidelines could make things worse. At present people seem to have come to except that a few people are legally exempt, they assume there has been some long medical process to establish this and accept the situation.
If we move to a system of guidelines many covid zealots will take it upon themselves to enforce the guidelines. Shops and travel companies may decide, or indeed may be forced by their insurers, to enforce the guidelines and so non mask wearers will have to defend their position in each situation with no overall Government exemption procedure in place.

And so it will be down to the general public, will there be enough people willing to ditch the masks when they are no longer the law? This is important, much as many of us do not wear them, the majority do and they have become a potent symbol of this whole hoo-haa. If the majority of people give up their masks it will be a key moment, Will it happen? I think seeing the un-masked crowds at Wimbledon and at the Football may help people to kick the mask habit.

Unless there is a direct instruction to stop wearing masks, there will be many sheep who will keep them on as long as the other sheep around them keep them on. We will continue to have shops and other establishments with bouncers on the door “encouraging” compliance. And Boris and his ilk will continue to signal their virtue by masking up for photo ops.

The mask mandate was put in place for a year last July, due to expire 24th July, so Johnson is not doing anything about the mandate per se. , unless he wanted to mandate it for a further 12 months. People will think he is granting favours….it’s bait and switch…the testing regime will continue apace to usher in those covid certificates/ passports.

Obvious ploy. Make it look like Government has removed some ‘law’ that never existed, and replace it with strong guidance. It passes on the responsibility to private companies who would each have to be taken to court if there was to be any progress in removing restrictions. Its out-sourcing of civil administration, part of take-over of ‘government’ by the technocracy.

I don’t think anything will change until they stop all testing, withdraw the “vaccines” and rule out vaccine passports in any shape or form whatsoever.

To me these are the only developments that will signal an end to the madness.

Anything less than this is just “noise” – designed to give the impression that restrictions will ease while they gear up for lockdowns in the Autumn, and so on forever.
