The Greens’ Migration Policy is Completely Mad
The Greens have published their migration policy, and it’s even madder than you might have feared, says Brendan O’Neill in the Telegraph. In pursuit of “a world without borders”, all who reach Britain will be given full access to the NHS, welfare benefits and the voting booth. Here’s an excerpt.
The list of reasons not to vote for Zack Polanski’s cranky Green Party is already miles long. This is a party in revolt against the truth of biology – witness Polanski’s loopy insistence that a woman “can have a penis”.
It’s a party that would halt all new oil and gas licensing, crushing thousands of well-paying working-class jobs and hiking our energy bills ever higher. And it’s a party content to rub shoulders with iffy Islamists if it will help it climb the greasy pole to power.
Well, now we can add another reason: the party’s migration policy. It’s one of the craziest policy documents I have ever read. In a nutshell, the Greens would throw open our doors to every soul on earth. People from distant lands who’ve contributed not a penny to our public purse would be gifted the same rights as Britons. They’d have access to the NHS, to welfare benefits, and even to the voting booth. Even migrants who do not have settled status should “have the right to vote in all elections”, say the Greens.
The party outlines its long-term goal – “a world without borders”. But as we await this borderless ‘utopia’ that no one except soppy bourgeois Leftists and globe-trotting crime lords actually wants, the Greens would implement a “fair and humane” system.
Fair for who? Not hard-working British people. Even arrivals who do not have settled status will receive “free and comprehensive” healthcare. They’ll also enjoy “access to welfare benefits”.
Boil this down and what the Greens are saying is that British workers will be forced to fund the lifestyles of foreigners. At the moment, it is mainly only migrants with “settled status” who can access benefits – a dodgy enough system, given it lavishes money on people from faraway lands who’ve never lifted a finger in Britain. Other migrants are informed they have: “No recourse to public funds.”
That would collapse under the Green Party. “Any ‘No recourse to public funds’ conditions will be abolished,” it says. This would act as a green light to the poor of the world. More would come, in the knowledge that our nutty Green government, if such a horror were to come to pass, would give them a house, cash and healthcare.
You’d have to be a fool not to try to land in such a strange nation that hands wads of cash to all-comers.

I’m totally up for open borders.
But with three key conditions.
1. Every country reciprocates
2. There are only open borders between countries with a dimilar standard of living.
3. None of the countries sharing an open border have a welfare state.
I would be up for giving that a go.
The Green’s version is dumb. Clearly designed to destroy everything.
What you describe is sort of what the EU was before the expansion, apart from point 3 – but that mattered less because the welfare states were broadly similar so no great incentive to move.
As Ann Coulter points out here: TWO WONGS DON’T MAKE A RIGHT – Ann Coulter
“The Wong court never expressly refers to legal or illegal immigrants at all. The concept would have been incomprehensible in 1898. From 1620 to 1920, pretty much anybody could come to America—although in the late 19th century, we began excluding the diseased, the criminal and the feeble-minded. (Probably why Brennan had such a soft spot for illegals.)
There was no social safety net, so if you couldn’t make it, you went home. Until we began plunging immigrants into the warm bath of government handouts, about half of all immigrants didn’t stay. No deportations necessary: They left the same way they came.
It wasn’t until the 1960s that three major innovations conspired to wreck our country: 1) the rise of the welfare state; 2) television; and 3) international air travel. Suddenly, every poor person on Earth was showing up, uninvited, and demanding that we support them for life.”
Yep. The socialists basically took over. It’s sort of inevitable. Making it without the safety net of a welfare state is hard. People will take an easier way out if they can. And no shortage of “leaders” willing to pander to them.
I find it sad because it seems to me to miss the point of what life is all about. Easy for me to say though as I have been fortunate to have been equipped with the capacity to make a reasonable go of life. On the other hand, many others have faced much harder challenges than I have, and have thrived.
I think the vast majority of people are capable of standing on their own two feet, so long as the state stays out of the way.
Yes, they certainly have been, historically, so it’s a reasonable assumption they would be in future, if they needed to be. I don’t think humans have changed that much.
I think it’s actually quite cruel to try to infantilise people, even (especially?) if you’re doing it in the name of being “nice” to people.
Looked at from a 4D chess point of view, he’s doing us a favour, because by highlighting the farcical nature of what has been de facto uniparty policy for over 25 years, he makes it much easier to attack and hopefully end it.
Maybe.
Dumb, an understatement. Traitorous more like it. Are they all recent ‘migrants’ themselves? Do they speak with actual native Brits and get viewpoints?
What’s it it for them? A seat of power and control? Of what’s left.
The headline should have been “The Green’s are completely mad”.
They have every kind of crackpot and conspiracy theorist among their members, especially anti-Semites who claim that Oct 7, the Golders Green arson attack etc were false flag operations.
Look at the state of them. What a bunch of middle class tossers.
Not 4 braincells between them.
The insane “open borders” project is based on the madleft’s profound and invincible hatred for our country and people. This hatred has its origin in the madleft’s nihilistic self-hatred. In other words, the “open borders” project (inviting in rapists, robbers, and murderers without discrimination) expresses the madleft’s yearning for self-destruction. Thus, in seeking the destruction of our country and our people, the madleft seeks its own destruction.
“The Greens immigration policy is madder than you think”, says Brendan O’Neill in the Telegraph. In pursuit of “a world without borders”, all who reach Britain will be given full access to the NHS, welfare benefits..” .
I thought this is the policy Con.Labour.LibDem have implemented for decades. The only difference is that The Trio have been lying about it and the Greens are honest.
I have wealthy Texan friend who broke her leg while visiting the UK. She’s recovered from the accident but not the fact that her NHS treatment was free to her, no questions asked.
The most frightening aspect of this is that people will still vote for them.
In the unlikely event of a Green majority, the amount of time it takes for the bond market to bankrupt the UK is probably just days.
Were these people born stupid or did they learn it?
All those who reach Britain already have full access to the NHS and welfare benefits, so it’s only the voting rights which is more extreme than the current policy.
Currently they have to wait 5 years. Mahmood (if you believe her) wants to extend that. Labour MPs are lining up to stop it.
In what way is Labour policy so very different from the Islamist-Green Party?
A welfare state with open borders is an oxymoron- as in moronic .
I think it was a Sun headline that once said on the eve of an election with the imminent prospect of a Labour government “would the last person leaving Britain please switch off the lights”
Wait a minute. According to the green party, no one should live more than fifteen minutes walk from their work or the shops and all cars and aircraft should be banned, so how the hell are all these borderless migrants going to travel to our country to be welcomed by these childish lunatics?
