Lib Dem Council Moves to Ban “Intimidating” England Flags

A Liberal Democrat-run council is attempting to ban residents from raising “intimidating” St George’s Cross and Union flags, issuing a formal stop notice to the Raise the Colours campaign group. The Telegraph has the story.

Oxfordshire County Council has issued a formal stop notice to the Raise the Colours campaign group, claiming that the placing of flags across the county is “an act of intimidation and division”.

The group has been told that it could face civil and criminal proceedings if it fails to comply with the legal notice.

Liz Leffman, the Oxfordshire County Council Leader, said: “The widespread installation of flags by Raise the Colours is not a sign of patriotism. It is an act of intimidation and division that is having a real and damaging impact on our communities.”

She claimed that residents and teams from the council working to remove the flags had “been subject to abuse and threatening behaviour” when challenging those installing them.

“This is totally unacceptable,” she said. “The council has a responsibility to act where behaviour undermines community cohesion and the safe and inclusive use of public spaces. That is why we are taking firm action.

“We won’t hesitate to take further legal steps where necessary to protect residents and support the cohesion of our communities.”

Operation Raise the Colours is an online campaign that involves displaying the Union Flag and St George’s Cross in public places.

Critics of the campaign have associated it with far-Right activism, with many local authorities removing the flags whenever they appear, but the movement has also been defended as a display of patriotism.

Earlier this year, the Telegraph revealed that councils had spent more than £100,000 paying contractors to take down Union flags and St George’s crosses.

In contrast, Palestinian and rainbow flags are totally fine.

Both of which I find extremely divisive, (if not exactly intimidating).

Are they not, the former can be flown by quite unpleasant intimidating people.

If someone finds our national flags “intimidating and divisive” I suggest they are living in the wrong country.

Agree but what if the Muslims, Africans, Asians and anti English, Anti Christian bigots and phobes are the majority in an area and actually run the country at large?

The decadence and derangement of our “rulers” surpasses anything I’ve ever read about in the history of other counties. Only a nationalist revolution can save us.

“The widespread installation of flags by Raise the Colours is not a sign of patriotism. It is an act of intimidation and division that is having a real and damaging impact on our communities.” That’s quite the misplaced assumption, lady. And you strike me as a weapons-grade oikophobe and useful idiot. If you said the same about Pakistani, Palestinian or rainbow cult flags I’ll take it all back. Meanwhile, I agree with Jung here and think this can be applied to all of the agendas and collective madness we’re seeing in society across the West. That includes you and your ilk, Liz Leffman; ”In 1957, Carl Jung wrote: “Everywhere in the West there are subversive minorities who, sheltered by our humanitarianism and our sense of justice, hold the incendiary torches ready, with nothing to stop the spread of their ideas.” Jung believed only a small “mentally stable” portion of the population keeps things together. His estimate was that only ~40% are psychologically grounded. The rest are one bad day away from breakdown. The point he was making is that most people are not rational. Their emotions possess them and when the pressure gets high enough: – Logic stops working. –… Read more »

It’s a claim with no evidence. Modus operandi for all the trash on the Left.

They are the “good” people, do what they think/say must be “right” and “good” any who think or say different are “wrong” and “evil”. By this they give themselves the justification to be bullies.

It’s the behaviour of sociopaths.

perhaps they could look at the state of the roads in rural Oxfordshire! they are dangerous, I wonder how many have been injured because of their negligence.
The only way to deal with this racist anti white British council is to withhold council tax, if they hate the British so much, they can rely on their non British supporters to fund them.
As long as we continue to fall in line and pay the more people like this council woman will put the boot in on the British.
She is a traitor.

Why do we have so many people in leadership positions who hate our country, our culture, and our people?

Because they’ve been ‘selected’ to subordinate delivering quality, service and value to raising their organisation’s DEI ‘score’ and claiming the associated DEI ‘bragging rights’ within their Mad Left hivemind.

If you cross the border from Italy to Switzerland there are Swiss flags everywhere.

That must be Italian speaking Swiss intimidating Italian speaking Italians

Pretty much every country I visit flies its own flags everywhere. Perhaps if all of our institutions flew only our own flags – be that county, country or nation – and our political and media class did not constantly try to undermine our patriotic feelings and our nation – we would not feel the need to put our own up.

Well of course! I’m unable to tell anything from the St.George or the Welsh or the Union Jack! I don’t care if it has ancient precedent.

I’d way prefer a flag that tells me whether they enjoy anal sex or if they are an invading religion.

That’s where my money goes! Hopefully the fat woman in charge knows this.

Personally I dislike what Raise the Colour are doing. Reminds me of the troubled years of Northern Island.
Making the country look even more of a mess to add to the graffiti, litter etc.
Flying flags does not and will not solve the problem. If anything it makes people more territorial (N.I.).
Yes I understand the sentiment, but for me it’s a no go.

It’s only necessary because of what has been foisted upon us, but it is necessary. We need to be a LOT more territorial.

We are being denied our identity, so we are entitled to insist on enforcing it, despite appearances, it is still our Country- for now!

We don’t do it to offend others, we do it to show it matters, to us, and if they are offended, why is that? What country do they think they are living in?

Usually it’s the likes of these radical councillors who claim to be offended, to signal their virtue.

Anyone care to share Ms Leffman’s address (it’s in Charlbury I think?), so we can make sure she gets a private display of flags in time for Easter?
There is someone in Charlbury flying a Palestine flag in his window, we can get a St George cross for him too. Charlbury seems to be stuffed full of idiot liberals

You mean, a drive through the English county of Oxfordshire in England with ENGLAND FLAGS waving from our car windows? And on flagpoles in our English gardens, like the American flag waves all year round over there?

Yes! But England Flags have mysteriously become harder to find available to buy anywhere, even now with April 23rd and then the World Cup coming up. I wonder why?
