Islamist Ideology Rife Within Civil Service, Says Ex-Ambassador
A former UK ambassador has said it is undeniable that “Islamist entryism” is creating anti-Israel sentiment that is now rife within the Civil Service. The Telegraph has the story.
Edmund Fitton-Brown, who was a British diplomat for more than 30 years, claimed that rising hostility towards the Jewish state in wider society was being mirrored across Whitehall.
His comments came after the Telegraph revealed Foreign Office staff attended an event at the Iranian embassy in London to celebrate the Islamic revolution, just weeks after the regime massacred thousands of its own people.
The department insisted its presence at the party on February 12th – two weeks before the outbreak of the war between Iran, the US and Israel – was a “normal part” of diplomacy.
But Fitton-Brown, who worked for the Foreign Office from 1984-2017, said it exposed how “Islamist entryism” in Whitehall had skewed the debate on the Middle East in favour of the UK’s “enemies”.
He accused the Government of prevaricating on Iran’s behaviour while treating Israel, Britain’s ally, with a “forensic level of scrutiny”, in a sign of “systematic bias” against the Jewish state.
In an article for the Telegraph, he said: “It is hard to avoid the conclusion that another factor has grown in importance, Islamist entryism not just in the Foreign Office but also throughout the Civil Service and a range of other professions.
“We have seen a steady reframing of debates, including in the sphere of national security. Allies portrayed as the problem, adversaries become misunderstood actors with legitimate grievances.
“Hate marches for Hamas and the Houthis show that inversion in society and the Civil Service reflects society. Over time, that inversion produces exactly the kind of misjudgement we saw this week.”
The war in Gaza caused by the Hamas terror attacks of October 7th 2023 has led to a spike in antisemitism in the UK, with a 113% rise in hate crimes against Jewish people.
A study by YouGov last year found that more than one in five Britons now hold or agree with antisemitic views, the highest level since similar surveys began a decade ago.

Thgis did not come about only in the past 2 years. It has been developing for two decades with no action by any government to stop it.
I think it’s much more than 2 decades, in fact I’d say that the seeds of it were sown in the 30s and encouraged in much of the post 80s period.
The FO always had what they thought was a love affair with the Arabs, not reciprocated except when paid for
Is that Ant and Dec?
The UK as a whole is well on its way to becoming an Islamic country.
The law already discriminates in favour of Muslims and soon will make it illegal to criticise Islam.
But it will be a strange form of Islamism. One that also favours transexuality and homosexuality.
Some good news from the Netherlands and a significant win for Geert Wilders;
”The Dutch parliament has approved a PVV motion seeking to ban the Muslim Brotherhood and related organizations. The PVV had repeatedly attempted to secure a majority for the motion, but earlier efforts fell short.
The PVV members’ motion does not clarify which “affiliated organizations” should also be prohibited. In the debate, they asserted, without substantiation, that the Muslim Brotherhood seeks to introduce Sharia “through schools, mosques, social organizations, and political influence.”

Edmund Fitton-Brown – now THERE’S a proper name, what?
There’s an inverted snob, what?
Negative, I’m as working class as they come, but all the proper posh people I’ve met have been absolutely sound.
The country wouldn’t be in such a mess if we had more chaps with names like that!
I bet he knows what’s what, what?!
What? – I mean, Pardon?
The only thing that used to be considered worse than “what?”, or “pardon”, was “uh?”… were a strange breed, the English.
No it hasn’t, people have seen that they can get away with showing how vile they are and even be congratulated on it.
Looking forward to seeing senior leaders from the Fake Conservative Party piping up about this and telling all about how they stopped this happening during their 14 years in government
How do the Equality laws fit in here……
All are equal, some are more equal than others.
The yougov poll is tosh for a start, geared to get the answers they want on all subjects, get them sent all the time, and why is no one talking about the rise of hatred by muslims against the rest of us?, how much longer will this continue, what will stop it?, when the country erupts when one of us gets imprisoned for daring to call this barbaric cult out for what it is?
Catholics were once denied positions in Government and Public bodies as they were considered a danger to the Country, Islam has and is producing many followers who actively do harm, wish harm and support harm, be it on the Jewish citizens of this country, or the wider safety of this country. Therefore like the catholics once were Islam should likewise be disallowed from positions where they can work to undermine and threaten the peace and fabric of the British nation.
