Starmer “In Wrong Place” on Trans Rights, Says Thornberry

Keir Starmer has “ended up in the wrong place” on trans issues, with Morgan McSweeney to blame for “trying to push” the Labour Party into political positions that do not come “naturally” to MPs, Dame Emily Thornberry has said. The Telegraph has the story.

The senior Labour MP, who was Sir Keir’s shadow attorney general before the General Election, claimed the party had not been “following our hearts” when it came to trans people.

The Prime Minister’s public position on trans issues has significantly changed since he became leader of the Labour Party in 2020, backtracking last year on his previous stance that “trans women are women”.

Dame Emily blamed Morgan McSweeney, the Prime Minister’s former chief of staff who left Downing Street last month, for “trying to push” the Labour Party into political positions that did not come “naturally” to MPs.

She told the BBC’s Political Thinking podcast: “I think we’ve ended up in the wrong place on trans and I think we’ve ended up treading very self-consciously and not ending up following our hearts.”

She added: “Trans people are on the margins, they are vulnerable. If the Labour Party doesn’t look after trans people, what are we about?”

Dame Emily’s remarks signal a deeper split in Labour between McSweeney’s supporters and MPs on the party’s Left, who are now feeling more outspoken after his exit.

The Labour strategist, who is widely credited with leading Sir Keir’s victory at the General Election, quit last month in the wake of the Lord Mandelson scandal. …

While in opposition, the party pledged to introduce a system of gender self-ID, but dropped the policy in 2023 after a similar scheme in Scotland ran into widespread opposition.

Sir Keir has since reversed his own position on trans issues, saying last year that a woman is an “adult female”, as supported by the Supreme Court judgment on biological sex. …

Dame Emily also praised Hannah Spencer, the new Green Party MP, as someone who “spoke like a Labour MP” after her win at last week’s by-election.

The Green Party promotes a self-ID policy for trans people, and Zack Polanski, its leader, said at the end of last year that “a woman can have a penis”.

Thornberry is an absolute loony. She would be better off defecting to the “Green” Party where she would find kindred spirits.

Yes they are vulnerable and you are exploiting that and making things worse for them. You are contributing to the creation of “trans people” from people who need real help.

10 Downing Street is definitely the wrong place for Starmer, I think even he might finally realise that now

It was said of Sunak that he was maybe not good at politics. He was right. Nor is Starmer.

That’s something which should be told to Muslims voting for the Greens: These people want that “women with penises” can freely mingle with your wifes and daughters literally everywhere and in every state of dress or undress.

If the Labour Party doesn’t look after trans people, what are we about?

Maybe looking after people in labour? The name must have had something to do with that during some largely forgotten time in the distant past.

Thornbury has her finger on the pulse of the working class? I think not.

Keir Starmer may well have “ended up in the wrong place” on trans issues, but I think he is in the wrong place on virtually everything. And that also goes for Dame Thornbury. I always find it entertaining when these politicians criticise each other; pot, kettle and black always comes to mind.

Thornberry is correct. What comes naturally to MPs is denying science if it clashes with their ideology. Think Net Zero, Trans, COVID etc.

Thornberry would say that; wouldn’t he

What is the number of trans people in the Uk? Why is it the minority are always catered to in socialist countries. It is called the tyranny of the minority. Keep that little nugget for a rainy day.

Trans people in the whole are deluded eejits mainly attention seeking MH cases, that claim they just want to live their lives on their terms, fine do that but dont expect to drag everyone else into your delusions, its your choice not ours and why should natural women be put at risk because of you? as for Polanski, he cant make his mind up what the hell he’s supporting, just so long as it keeps him in the public eye!.
