Nottingham Killer Was Not Sectioned “Because He Was Black”

Nottingham killer Valdo Calocane, who killed three people in June 2023, was not sectioned after a previous violent attack because he was black and there was an “over-representation of young black males in detention”, an inquiry has heard. The Telegraph has more.

Valdo Calocane attempted to break into a neighbour’s flat during a psychotic episode in May 2020 but was not committed to a psychiatric hospital after professionals considered an “over-representation of young black males in detention”.

He went on to kill students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both aged 19, and caretaker Ian Coates, 65, before attempting to kill three other people during an attack in June 2023.

Calocane was given an indefinite hospital order in 2024 after the murder charges were downgraded to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

The families of the victims have repeatedly raised concerns over alleged failures by the NHS to treat his “known risk” appropriately.

Calocane was admitted to hospital and sectioned under the Mental Health Act four times between 2020 and 2022 because of his violent behaviour.

An inquiry into his killings, which began on Monday, heard his first attack was in May 2020 when he attempted to kick down the door of a neighbour’s flat in Nottingham.

Calocane was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage but later released after mental health workers agreed an at-home treatment plan and prescribed medication for psychosis.

Rachel Langdale KC, counsel to the inquiry, said one doctor had “been leaning towards” sectioning Calocane because it was his “first presentation of psychosis”.

“But the team of professionals considered the research evidence that shows over-representation of young black males in detention,” Ms Langdale said, adding that it was decided that he could be admitted later if his treatment failed.

A previous independent report into Calocane’s care found that failings included him not being forced to have long-lasting anti-psychotic medication because he did not like needles, and NHS staff having “felt a pressure to avoid restrictive practice because of his ethnicity”.

The panel that made that deeply “wrong” judgement, based on some insane diversity decision are complicit in the death of those 3 victims.

He was not dangerous because of the colour of his skin, he was dangerous because he was a violent psychopath!

Ah – but violent psychopaths are over-represented in psychiatric sectioning (though for accuracy the diagnosis seems to have been psychosis rather than personality disorder).

Have they all been dismissed with prejudice. No, thought not.

This is happening all over as “diversity” trumps common decency and common sense. The best example ofcourse is the “rape gang” situation. There is only one true justice —EQUAL JUSTICE—NOT SOCIAL JUSTICE

It has been known for years that black folk have a higher incidence of schizophrenia than white people.
My heart goes out to those poor families as this could have been avoided.

A higher incidence of schizophrenia – brought about by a higher incidence of mind-affecting illegal drugs. Then able to plead diminished responsibility.

And elsewhere in the news black people cant be the “bad guys” in PSA anti-harassment videos because that remotes a”racial stereotype”…

The thing about stereotypes is… they are rooted in observed behaviour.

It’s called stereotyping if it involves White peoples, but racism if Black or Brown.

“…he could be admitted later if his treatment failed…”

Would you say it failed?

If all that psychiatrists do is compare the patient’s skin colour with a colour chart then why do we spend so much money on their training and pay?

Sack these self-styled experts and replace them with Dulux colour cards.

In more civilised times this animal would be put down. Claiming insanity means you can get away with murder apparently.

There is an over representation of young black males for a reason – it is a fact that they are more likely to be violent schizophrenics. That may be connected to their smoking of strong cannabis in their early teenage years …. which is common in their society.

Three, perfectly innocent citizens, violently murdered so that the tick-boxers could defend themselves from possibly appearing to be waycist.

Just like the hundreds of thousands of young white girls who were groomed, gang-raped and tortured …. whilst “public servants” looked the other way.

How ENRICHED we are!

Since “misconduct in public office” is in fashion right now, when do the arrests start of those public employees responsible?

There have been some studies fairly recently indicating that lack of vitamin D in women while expecting may increase the likelihood of their child developing schizophrenia and other psychiatric conditions. We don’t get a lot of sun in UK that’s intense enough to instigate vit D production in the body, and even less now we’re not allowed natural sunlight. Make of that what you will.
