Mandelson Arrested Over Alleged Leaks to Epstein

Lord Mandelson has been arrested on suspicion of committing misconduct in public office over alleged leaks to the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Telegraph has more.

The former Labour minister was pictured being led from his London home by plain clothes police officers on Monday afternoon.

The Metropolitan Police started investigating Lord Mandelson after it emerged that he appeared to have leaked sensitive government documents to Jeffrey Epstein while serving as business secretary in Gordon Brown’s Cabinet.

The former minister’s homes were raided earlier this month, with several officers entering his multimillion-pound house near Regent’s Park in north London. Scotland Yard said another search was carried out at a Wiltshire address.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers have arrested a 72 year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

“He was arrested at an address in Camden on Monday February 23rd and has been taken to a London police station for interview.

“This follows search warrants at two addresses in the Wiltshire and Camden areas.”

The offence of misconduct in public office carries a maximum punishment of life in prison.

Lord Mandelson, who was business secretary between October 2008 and May 2010, had a close relationship with Epstein and maintained contact with him even after the financier had been convicted of child sex offences.

He is thought to have shared documents detailing plans for a multibillion-pound EU bailout, Brown’s resignation and the potential sale of government land and property with Epstein.

Files suggested that the disgraced financier sent Lord Mandelson £56,000 and £10,000 to the former minister’s husband, although the peer claims he has no record of the payments.

Some words of wisdom for Mandelscum, because there’s always a meme;

”The next time you dislike your life, remember: it’s all about perspective. I have a friend who reads 2-3 books per week, works out twice a day, has no financial worries and has people who want to have sex with him all the time. And yet he constantly complains about how much he hates prison.”

The funniest part of the story is Lord Mandelson’s insistence that “he was not motivated by financial gain.

And can we drop the “Lord” if Andrew is no longer being called a “prince” although that is something he was born to, unlike Mandy.

I mean, who can honestly say they haven’t at some point failed to spot £56K going into their bank account? I know I have.

Of course it’s completely believable that Mandelson and “Prince Andrew” are the only ones involved. They definitely never spoke to anyone else about any of this, especially not anyone in the current or any former government.

He is not and was not ever close to either of them so it’s highly unlikely
While they both put their trust in him, they knew nothing and could have known nothing about his misdeeds. He was so clever – George Smiley level – that the MI5 vetting didn’t uncover anything of concern. Blair of course is as honest as the day is long.

On C4 news this evening, there was a discussion with a KC about the chances of conviction on misconduct in public office. Apparently it’s hard work to demonstrate “beyond reasonable doubt” in such cases, so we’ll see what happens in due course. And no doubt Mandelson will be able to hire suitable KCs on his side.

If he is not charged, or charged and not convicted, the whole scandal will be viewed by the public as a two tier whitewash. Starmer and Labour will be blamed.

And here’s another article on the topic: https://www.gbnews.com/politics/peter-mandelson-arrest-not-slam-dunk-ex-attorney-general-warns No doubt it was deliberately made vague, or flexible, in the definition of the offence involved.

I forgot that bit. The word used by all media is “arrested“.

Nobody mentions Mandelson being the European Commissioner for Trade from 2004 to 2008.

All part of the theatre. Having arrested Andrew, with many asking why the ex-Prince and not the Prince of Darkness, they have had to make a show of even handedness.

But Mandy’s “misconduct” was far worse revealing actual security compromising secrets.
