Starmer’s Chagos Negotiator Jonathan Powell Visited China and Spoke at ‘Front Organisation’ Conference While Engaged on Deal

Keir Starmer’s Chagos negotiator and National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell visited China and spoke at a Beijing ‘front organisation’ conference while engaged on the ‘surrender’ deal with China-ally Mauritius, it has emerged. Guido Fawkes has the scoop.

It’s Day Two of Guido’s Chagos Files, a trove of hundreds of Foreign Office emails which expose the inner workings of the negotiations over the now torpedoed Chagos deal. It does not make good reading for Starmer or his National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell…

As Guido revealed yesterday, Jonathan Powell was engaged on the Chagos issue by Foreign Office officials at least a month before his formal appointment as the PM’s envoy for BIOT sovereignty negotiations. During this period he was given extensive Government information via email to his private email address, and took meetings with officials prior to his involvement being announced.

Now it has emerged that Powell visited China to attend a conference at ‘front organisation’ the Grandview Institution while working on the Chagos file. Powell was in Beijing from September 20th-22nd 2024, six weeks after his engagement on the Chagos issue began. As The Chagos Files reveal, Powell was working with FCDO officials from at least August 6th of that year. Powell visited China in his private capacity as the head of consultancy Inter Mediate while simultaneously working as the government’s Chagos envoy. …

Why was Powell meeting with a Chinese Government front organisation while simultaneously negotiating the sovereignty of Chagos – a matter of direct interest to the Chinese Government?

Worth reading in full.

Misconduct out of public office as he hadn’t yet been appointed.

The idea is becoming attractive of Parliamentary scrutiny of senior (high paid) SPADs etc and Quangoists I do t say Parliament should have a veto but exposing these people to scrutiny might improve public confidence and might weed out some dross.

Wakey Wakey. Let’s have some real ‘Woke’ instead of the Far Left’s version. Time to wake up boys and girls. This is what I have just posted here: “The extreme Far Left’s main policy is the replacement of western democracy with a socialist revolution. This is not made up. It is their main policy goal. To achieve this they follow a Trotskyite game plan combining infiltration of political parties and institutions with the operation of covert fronts which hijack seemingly important moral issues like anti-racism and anti-facism [whilst one too many hypocritically being racist and fascist and anti-semitic]. They do this instead of contesting democratic elections. The objectives are the three Ds – division, disruption to create destabilisation of social structures, our politics and economy. They do not really care about the moral issues themselves provided they can use them to destabilise. Stand Up to Racism, Love Music Hate Racism, Unite Against Fascism are all covert Far Left fronts for example. The entire transgender issue is solely pursued by the extreme Far Left to destabilise our social structures. It is insidious. U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy by creating McCarthyism and the ridiculous and meaningless “Reds Under the Beds” slogan did the… Read more »

It does seem like the only intelligent people in starmer’s govt are the ones put there by Chinese and Russian intelligence.

The smart people in Russia and China know they don’t need smart people in Starmer’s government.

After all, Starmer is there already working hard at being an idiot IMHO.

He is Reform UK’s No 1 asset [along with Lammy, Reeves and a cast of thousands in the Labour Party].

And Farage doesn’t have to pay any of them a cent.

It is awesome.

Labour is Reform UK’s secret weapon and their election-winning campaign machine.

Why hasn’t Mandy been arrested or charged? He wasn’t a dimwit who gave away information which could be used by a crook. He is said to have received payment to his boyfriend. Randy Andy had Royal protection officers so why didn’t they advise him that Jeffrey was dodgy?

Andy will never be convicted of misfeasance in public office.

The prosecution has to prove he acted knowingly.

How can that be successful for a guy who is too thick IMHO to even spell misfeasance let alone know what he is doing.

He probably is having to learn how to spread marmalade on his toast at breakfast because it was all done for him before now.
