Reeves: Closer Integration With EU is “Biggest Prize”

Rachel Reeves will say closer integration with the European Union is the “biggest prize” for Britain in a speech at the London School of Economics this afternoon – a reversal of the position she set out just last month. The Telegraph has more.

The Chancellor will deliver the comments in a speech she is giving at the London School of Economics (LSE) on Wednesday afternoon.

They will raise hopes within the soft-Left faction of the Labour Party of a shift in the leadership’s view on rejoining the EU.

While Sir Keir Starmer has talked about sectors such as energy and agricultural food joining the single market, he has been clear Labour would not rejoin the customs union. This is in line with Labour’s manifesto and, the Prime Minister has insisted, it is a “red line” for the Government.

Reeves will say: “There are three big economic blocks: US, China and Europe. We will always seek every opportunity to grow our economy and these trading relationships, but ultimately only one of these is on our doorstep, and so the biggest prize is closer integration with Europe.”

She will add that the Government will only align with EU regulations when it is in Britain’s “national interest”.

In Davos last month, Reeves underlined Sir Keir’s comments as she tacitly urged Cabinet colleagues to stop floating the idea of a closer union, insisting Britain could not “go back in time”.

Her shift in tone will be seized on by the emboldened soft-Left faction within Labour, after Sir Keir headed off a challenge to his premiership on Monday.

It is likely that this faction of the party will make increasing policy demands of Sir Keir in the wake of the Mandelson scandal. Sir Keir has been seriously weakened by the exposure of his poor judgement in appointing Lord Mandelson despite knowing about his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

Any integration with the EU is completely against Britain’s national interest. Always has been, Monnet’s creation is a disaster and it’s only purpose is destruction.

I think they know exactly what they’re doing, they know it will be utterly catastrophic for the Country, but they are just obeying orders.

Exactly who is giving those orders is debatable!

The EU is the dummy run for Global Government. The Political Class want to be part of that and they want back in the EU. They do not give a hoot about the “bloody nuisance public” and only care about their own alignment with the globalist agenda that wants the destruction of National Identity and Culture by claiming it is all about “trade” and “jobs”. ——But if they are so concerned about “jobs” why are they destroying hundreds of thousand of them in oil and gas? —The EU was created by Corporatists and Big International Banks and the goal is to be rid of the Nation State. —–Our own Political Class are fully aligned with this goal.

The EU’s economic driving force has got flat tyres all round and a failing engine – welcome to the German Fourth Reich. There are some areas of growth such as Poland which is gaining from Germany’s collapsing industrial base as companies relocate there.
