Amelia’s Original Creators Don’t Understand the Difference Between ‘Disinformation’ and Dissent
Maybe I’m just terminally misinformed, but how does the Prime Minister being told ‘Up Yours!’ by a teenage schoolgirl, as demonstrated in the admirable image above, count as ‘disinformation’, as opposed to simply being an obvious insult?
You’ll recognise the purple-haired heroine in a “FCUK THE GOVERNMENT” T-shirt there as being Amelia, the current dissident web-meme du jour, already capably discussed on this website by Nick Dixon. Without excessively going over old ground, Amelia began life as a non-player character in Pathways, a dismal online propaganda computer game structured like an interactive novel (playable here), backed by the Government-affiliated anti-terror scheme Prevent.

Meanwhile, state-backed far-left organisations are publicly funded to advance the official political agenda.
Most “misinformation” or “disinformation” actually comes from Government. —–All the way back to 1973 when we were told by the Heath Government that joining the EEC would mean “no essential loss of sovereignty” (A PACK OF LIES), all the way up till today when we are warned of the “climate crisis” for which no empirical evidence exists. ——-The Political Class have their own agenda, and it mostly does not align with the people that vote for them. Infact they see voters as a “bloody nuisance” to be ignored, silenced banned and even jailed if they dare to expose the duplicity of the elites who gather at Davos to plan the next part of their Global Governance Agenda.
Why don’t we call it what it is – propaganda.
We are no different from Russia and Ukraine, in that respect.
The Gov have no sense of proportion or moderation, however, and continually pumping out this guff in such a heavy-handed and overt manner is (predictably) starting to have the opposite effect to that desired.
The Heath government was probably right about that because by that time, political decisions of the EEC could only be made consenually. This changed when some form of majority voting was introduced with the Maastricht treaty in 1992. The prime minister who gave British sovereignity away was thus John Major and not Edward Heath.
There is a clip from a very old Have I Got News For You where Hislop rips a 5 minute hole in Major and the EU for this very thing. It was a different age and there is no chance whatever of Hislop repeating it today.
I said all the way back to HEATH. —-He knew that sovereignty would be lost.
Here is an extract from European Communities Act 1972.—- “All such rights, powers, liabilities, obligations and restrictions from time time created or arising by or under the Treaty are without further enactment to be given legal effect and enforced, allowed and followed accordingly” ——Yet Heath had the audacity to claim there would be “no essential loss of sovereignty”. He pretended along with others in the Political Class that we were merely joining a “Common Market”. ——John Major then also went on to mislead us about the Maasrricht Treaty of 1992, and Tony Blair did the same with the Amsterdam Treaty of 1997. ——–Government have strived to keep the real nature and purpose of this project from the people.
Sovereignity means that a government is always free to make its own decisions on anything, regardless of what other governments want. The pre-Maastricht EU respected this principle because no EU-wide decisions could be made without all member state governments agreeing to that.
Agreeing to handle certain things in certain ways in form of a treaty is such a sovereign decision.
Another possibility is that the creators and others in their camp understand very well the difference between disinformation and dissent – however they can hardly say “we want to suppress dissent” so they choose to call it disinformation. Similarly, do we really think that the sole true purpose of “Prevent” is to stop “terrorism”. If the government really cared about that they’d be taking a whole different approach and set of actions.
They are selective with the truth, to manipulate public opinion.
A generous view
The state has no business using my money to manipulate public opinion. It is there to serve.
Manipulating public opinion is antithetical to democracy because it seeks to manufacture consent instead of earning it. That’s what tyrants¹ do to gain or maintain support of the people they lord over.
¹ In Greek notion, tyrant means autocrat: Someone who usurped a king-like position without being a legitimate king and who now governs because of himself. That’s a better term for this than dictator because dictator was an office of the Roman public which provided extraconstitutional powers to a single individual for a limited time to deal with an emergency.
“Manipulating public opinion is antithetical to democracy because it seeks to manufacture consent instead of earning it.”
100%
Of course it’s difficult to stop politicians bigging themselves up, but there should not be whole departments of the state dedicated to this.
OH NO IT’S NOT!!!!

It’s a fundamental point. Many people have come to believe (perhaps they always did) that it’s fine for the state to do this, because democracy or for the greater good.
Never mind that the welfare bill gets bigger every year…
Yup. Many people expect the state to provided
Cue Hayek… and “The Road to Serfdom”.
Spot on!
This is based on the assumption that they’re secretly rational and know that they’re peddling a bunch of unhinged opinons (lightly put) about the world. But if they were, they wouldn’t be doing this.
In late summer or early autumn 1989, Erich Honecker famously quipped “Den Sozialismus in seinem Lauf halten weder Ochs noch Esel auf!¹” to celebrate the succesful creation of a 32-bit processor by VEB² Robotron and in October, the GDR celebrated its 40th year with big military parades and other public events. Less than 40 days later, all the splendour was gone, people were dancing on the Berlin wall and Honecker was a has-been replaced by the perma-drunk³ Egon Krenz as an interim leader.
¹ Neither ox nor donkey will stop the homerun of socialism, an allusion to traditional German depictions of the birth of Christ in a stable in Bethlehem which usually include an ox and a donkey.
² Volkseigener Betrieb, enterprise owned by the people.
³ That’s at least what he looked like. But maybe, he was just Billie Ellish in disguise.
Was it really called “Robotron”? Robotron 2084 was the name of my favourite arcade game from the early 80s.

Well looks like that predates the arcade game – decadent evil capitalists stealing the creative output of glorious socialism!
None of my DDR relatives were rich/important enough to have or work with computers, as far as I know, so I was sadly ignorant of this firm until now.
Why do they always use slim, attractive people to represent the righteous. My impression, from the news, is that there are an awful lot of indeterminate people who infest the left who are plain ugly, and
contorting your face with hatred was never a good look.
The lefty propagandists created “a Boudicca” ….. and thought she’d become a hate figure 🙂
It’s pretty obvious that Matteo Bergamini is only superficially British/English.
I have to say that my general feeling when I watch the establishment trying to deal with the internet and social media and wrestle back control of information has shifted from dread to amusement.
Maybe the COVID terror left me so shaken by the brutality and malice of the establishment that I instinctively panicked at anything they tried to do to control us. If so, it may be wearing off, because their attempts now seem clownish and doomed. Every effort they make to put the genie back in the bottle seems to make things worse for them.
I certainly hope my new found optimism isn’t misguided.
I think you’re right. People usually paint themselves as invincible to stop others from noticing that they’re losing ground. I have some experience with this, albeit in an entirely different situation.
It is (historically) difficult to realise that your unrecognised bias blunts your ability to criticise the bias in others. Beams and Motes.
Amelia – “wrongthink” strikes back?
This mocking dissent is a natural reaction from people who know they are being fed propaganda and are powerless to stop its production. It’s a way of disarming those who want to impose their will on you.
Amelia memes is the embodiment of one of the finest of British values: making fun of authoritarianism!
Peter, this is their exact problem. The “establishment” has zero understanding of the British psyche.? The majority of us like to take the p*ss
What the people behind the interactive propaganda course probably like least is that somebody took something ugly they created to propagate what they believe to be the good cause into something stunningly beautiful (see “Defend …” poster above) propagating the exact opposite of it.
Beautiful white women ! Imagine the racism of that !! Bring in the educational goon squad, the induced neurosis didn’t last !!!
Labour manifesto……

Many songs for Amelia out there. This one is quite good, available on Spotify and would be great if we could get it to Number 1! Can be listened to on Youtube or Spotify.
