Why Are Taxpayers Funding a Cycling Charity for “Muslim and Ethnically Diverse Women”?
This week, Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, was photographed trying “the excellent new cycle lanes on Lambeth Bridge”. He was joined by two cycling groups, the London Cycling Campaign and Cycle Sisters UK. In this piece I am going to delve into the latter as an example of how ridiculous identity politics has become, so much so that there are now exercise charities only open to minorities.
Case in point: Cycle Sisters UK describes itself as “award-winning charity which creates accessible and empowering spaces for Muslim and ethnically diverse women to cycle and become more healthy, confident and connected”. It’s not obvious what’s stopping them from doing this in the first place, nor why hobbies and socials are increasingly being turned into registered charities (a trend I have noticed a lot while researching the charity sector). That’s before we get to the fact that Cycling Sisters was awarded £103,346 from taxpayers between 2021-2025.
Although Cycle Sisters is technically open to “ethnically diverse women”, it’s ultimately centred around Islam, with teachings from the Quran on its website:
On another page it writes: “Our rides aim to meet the specific needs of Muslim women such as halal café stops, timings around prayers and providing advice and support on how to cycle while wearing modest clothing.”

The charity maintains that it helps women overcome barriers such as “Negative cultural attitudes” and “Racism and Islamophobia”. Its website is packed with resources, such as an article on how to cycle in modest clothing:
The length of the article – covering everything from how to secure your hijab or niqab to “modest activewear” – might suggest that this clothing isn’t all that suitable for sports.
When it’s not providing resources on “Cycling for Diverse Communities” or running “regular women-only rides”, Cycle Sisters is also fairly political. In August last year it took part in a “Big Ride for Palestine”, posting: “Our sisters rode to remember every life taken and to stand against the genocide and ongoing oppression and denial of human rights faced by the Palestinian people.”
It’s clear from the website that Cycle Sisters provides free bikes and helmets:
It partners and receives funding from an enormous number and range of organisations, including Brompton, Hackney Council, Islamic Relief, Lime Bikes, the London Marathon Foundation, Muslim Aid, Palmers Green Mosque, Sustrans, Transport for London, UCL and Raleigh, which provides the charity with “high-quality bikes”:
Quite why Muslim and “ethnically diverse women” are apparently less able to buy a bike compared to the rest of the population, according to Cycle Sisters, is a mystery.
Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of identity-based cycling groups, as you can see in this section of Cycle Sisters’ report, which lists more Muslim and “Community Cycling” groups:
Examples include Evolve, “The Cycling Network for Muslim Women”, and Fasted 500, “an annual cycling challenge encouraging Muslims to keep active during the month of Ramadan by pledging to ride 500 kilometres”.
I suppose it would be far Right to ask why people can’t just cycle with whomever they want, and without a whole charity being set up?

Yesterday I attended an appointment at hospital. Sitting in the waiting room I looked up at a notice board. There were about 20 leaflets all in different languages. Urdu, Arabic, Polish etc etc etc. I stared at the board for a while till I finally located one leaflet in English. I stood up and walked towards the board and as the receptionist wondered what I was doing I said to her “Oh, you have one in English as well, that is good”. ——Her expression was one of SUBMISSION and ACCEPTANCE. ——We are sleepwalking to the end of western civilization and we all just say “Oh well what can you do”?

By my reckoning every one of the above bar Raleigh is taxpayer funded so yet another example of taxpayers being milked.

London has the lowest percentage of White British residents in England and Wales at 43.4%, with a combined 46.2% of residents identifying with Asian, Black, mixed, or “other” ethnic groups

As a subscriber to this site, I am well aware of all the concerns and gloom, but thought I should try today(Saturday) to be i bit more optimistic and less pessimistic. Living in London there are still lots of advantages. This morning we went to the travel show in Olympia (mainly as an easy way to collect brochures. We used the Jubillee line,then Piccadily and shuttle to Olympia. All pleasant quick and civilised
I agree the tube is great when working well, very good coverage. Combined with suburban rail and buses and trams and DLR it does the job, especially if you know how and when to use it. It can get unpleasantly crowded- a victim of London’s success. Taxis and Uber, and of course the boats. Awful place to drive in though. I used to cycle to work, would not fancy it now even with all the annoying cycle lanes – I found a significant minority of other cyclists to be inconsiderate pricks, ditto pedestrians.
bankruptcy for the uk, frankly can’t come soon enough then the civil servants dishing out our money to their client groups, will be gone, as will all the money to pay the illegals, the parasites claiming welfare instead of working, and the eco zealots taking subsidy, and the ngo,s all will be wiped off the balance sheet, and the work of rebuilding a Britain for the British can begin.

I see no evidence of ‘sisters’ being short of moolah when I’m out shopping as I see them carrying several dept. store carrier bags and wearing enough make-up to sink a battleship.
Ah, but who paid for the goods in those bags. Probably the shops themselves as the sisters were exercising their rights of poverty and culture to help themselves to whatever they want and avoid the tills as they exited the premises.
Sorry if my message sounds boring or repetitive, but I said weeks ago after the exposure of the fraud by mainly Somali ‘charities’ in America, how much is going on in our country. Of course, the joke is on us, because it’s happening in plain sight, not fraud but approved Government expenditure. Linda Duberley regularly appears on television saying how she goes into certain communities to teach women basic skills like English but pretending that they are learning something else, so their husband’s don’t know that they are advancing themselves. Why are we funding the hobbies of oppressed women, why are they having to be taught in secret, why are we accepting third world oppression in this country? Why are we not starting at the beginning and teaching the men what decent behaviour is in an advanced country rather than a neolithic culture.

One of the most recent times I went to skate at Lee Valley there was a gaggle of Muslim women cyclists wobbling down the cycle path that runs parallel to Lea Bridge Road. They didn’t have a clue. I don’t think whoever was leading the group had much clue either. That path is well used by hardened cyclists bombing along and zombie pedestrians. They were a moving hazard. It could be partly genetic but mainly cultural. So we import a culture that leaves women useless at cycling because they didn’t do it as kids, but we are not allowed to criticise that culture- and we fund some bullshit grift that supposedly fixes a problem created by the community we’ve imported.

Its not a charity, its another scam, once they’ve had the cycles donated(no doubt) all they need is a few quid for punctures etc, and the fact it only available to muslims is blatently racist, but then most charitys these days are.
This style of group, aimed at just Muslim ladies or other groups just keeps them separate from the main stream groups of cyclists etc.
So they’re still not integrating, or being encouraged to!
