Twenty Think Tanks Taxpayers Have Funded for £123 Million

For my last two Daily Sceptic columns I covered the astronomical sums taxpayers have been charged for migrant charities. When I did an audit of 20 such charities, I found that the total came to £22.8 million! Unfortunately (as always) there is so much more where this came from. Another category of waste is think tanks (classed as charities). For many years the Left has been screaming ‘Who funds you?’ at Right-wing and Tufton Street-based think tanks. Meanwhile no one’s been looking at who funds them. In another audit (of 20 think tank charities), I found that taxpayers had been charged a total of £123 million for 20 of these outfits. In this piece I will show you some of the ridiculous organisations being funded by Brits:

British Future (£750,650, 2021-24)

Thanks for this, as always.

How on earth did we get to this point?

We should not be funding any think tanks regardless of political persuasion.

Our village has a men’s breakfast club which meets once a month to discuss a pre-arranged topic of interest, enjoy each other’s company and eat a meal at their own expense. May I suggest that the members of the above ‘charities’ copy them?

Lol

We regularly set the world to rights in the sauna and the steam room at our club – can we get a grant?

If they were only in it for the cash I could (almost) understand. The fact is, they’re actively sabotaging society.

These are ways government money (our money) can be filtered through to what the government, and more likely, the civil service actually wants to do, but gets things put in the way by those pesky voters every 4-5 years. I agree with you – Reform, if and when they win power, should remove all existing funding and ban any new.

If it gets government funding then it cannot be a charity, by definition.

Good piece Charlotte.
Gravy train leaches at taxpayers expense and blithering idiots sanctioning these payments.

Charlotte, please join Reform, turn up with your lists on day one of the new government, and cancel all funding for every single one of these organisations.

All this funding on steroids of think tanks and politically motivated charities goes back David Cameron’s ridiculous “Big Society” ideas. It was virtue signalling by giving away public money to wasteful, inefficient and often corrupt organisations who are accountable to no one.

Pubs and Restaurants are failing whilst these organisations are funded. Do they have to account for the benefit they create? I wonder what the economic impact would be if they were all defunded.
