AstraZeneca Vaccine Remained in Use Despite 48,000 Heart Condition Reports to MHRA, FOI Files Reveal
The AstraZeneca Covid vaccine remained in use despite over 48,000 reports of heart conditions to the UK drug regulator in 2021 alone, confidential files uncovered in an FOI request have revealed. GB News’s Lucy Johnston has the story.
The jab was widely hailed as a “triumph for British science” by then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2020 and became the cornerstone of the UK’s early vaccine rollout.
However, increasing fears grew around the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine after it was released in January 2021 following reports linking it to potentially deadly heart defects and blood clots. It has since been withdrawn.
Previously unseen documents, obtained through Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, reveal the scale of reported adverse events associated with the AstraZeneca jab. At the same time, internal discussions were taking place within the UK drug regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), about emerging safety data.
The confidential files show that in 2021 alone, the MHRA received 48,472 reports of heart disorders linked to the vaccine.
Last night, the MHRA dismissed these figures and said the true number of spontaneous heart problems reported linked to the vaccine was almost four times lower at a total of 13,010.
A spokesman could not explain the difference. He said: “We are currently reviewing previously released figures in more detail to identify any potential discrepancies.”
The AstraZeneca jab was plagued with concerns throughout its use.
Separate FOI requests also show a special Government-backed task force, set up to examine the risks of Covid vaccines, discussed concerns linking the jab to dangerous blood clots at a meeting in April 2021.
Minutes from the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) COVID-19 Vaccines Benefit-Risk Expert Working Group, which were published in 2024, show that while these concerns had been acknowledged, the group concluded the evidence was not sufficient at that stage to issue a public alert.
The minutes also record concerns that public alarm over the vaccine could make it harder to vaccinate the population by increasing “vaccine hesitancy”.
Despite this, by March 2021, many countries had suspended use of the AstraZeneca jab amid these blood-clotting concerns. These included Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Cyprus, and Portugal.
On April 7th 2021, the vaccine advisory group, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), advised that adults under 30 should be offered an alternative vaccine.
The data have been analysed by Oxford researchers Dr Tom Jefferson and Professor Carl Heneghan and highlighted in their Substack, Trust the Evidence. They argue regulators were aware of safety signals beyond those communicated publicly and question whether earlier action should have been taken.
The scientists also asked regulators to disclose how many doses of the AstraZeneca jab were administered in the UK.
However, the UK Health Security Agency, which oversees public health measures, refused, stating the information is “commercially sensitive” and that releasing it is “not in the public interest”.

My mother, with no previous health issues, died of heart failure after two of those evil concoctions.
So did 2 of my family members.
My wife had a pulmonary embolism and is on blood thinning drugs for the rest of her life.
This would not have been reported to the yellow card system. Furthermore, my daughter’s fiance is a doctor and he would never report any adverse drug reactions to the jabs as he believes that they were beneficial.
I seem to recall that during the Covid outbreak, it was estimated that only around 10% of incidents are reported to Vaers (in the USA) or the yellow card system in the UK. That 48,000 figure for reported heart conditions could easily be nearly 1/2 million.
It’s interesting to compare this case with other mis-selling scandals. If it had been a private sector organisation administering the unnecessary injections, you wouldn’t be able to switch on Youtube without getting an ad ‘been injured by an injection that wasn’t your fault? claim compensation now!’
So they replaced one dangerous jab with another one.
You just cannot believe these people – and never could.
They are, most literally, evil people.
That’s not how I remember it, when I was blogging about COVID several times a week. It was the safe and effective true Brit world-beating vaccine, until it was quietly withdrawn without explanation (or actually just marginalised, for withdrawal would have drawn attention to it).
My memory is surely correct, because any “concerns” that leaked into the public domain would have fostered vaccine hesitancy, and that would never do for such a safe and effective measure against such an apocalyptic virus.
Yes, even during the days of pandemic absurdity it was astonishing how the AZ concoction disappeared within a matter of a few weeks.
IIRC they pulled it a very short time before a time limit was up where they’d have had release certain information if it continued in use or similar… decided to pull it *just* before that. A coincidence I’m sure……………….
Agreed and that is the bit that is so bad. They had these reports and said and did nothing. They went even further by extending its use to cohorts of the population who were not really at risk. I cannot believe this is not worthy of a criminal prosecution. They cannot hide behind ‘we did not know’ and they cannot claim the people gave their ‘informed’ consent.
2 points to make:
1. There were 0.5% (1 in 200) Yellow card reports as a proportion of doses administered. A truly startling figure.
2. There was clearly a lag of months between dose taken & Yellow card report. Yellow card reports kept coming in by the bucket load months after the thing had been banned.
Surprisingly, none of this has been enquired into by Hallett, nor I doubt will it be.

The minutes record alarm over the vaccine could make it harder to vaccinate the population increasing vaccine hesitancy. In other words don’t tell the public the vaccine could cause death or disability because they might use their own judgement and not have it.
The government and MHRA would be known as untrustworthy and lose all credibility. Not to mention Astra Zenica and the pharmaceutical companies losing public trust and profits. You couldn’t make it up.

The sheer number of reports was sufficient evidence to spark a public alert. The sensible course of action would have been to put an immediate stop to the so-called “vaccines” until proper research and testing had been undertaken.

Very few people were at serious risk of Covid, and they were mostly easily identifiable.
Tens of thousands were injured and thousands killed …. to temporarily delay the death of a handful.

‘Not in the public interest’ – the usual cover up phrase when malfeasance is in danger of exposure. Also useful when foreign critics could cause embarrassment. Dutch Eva and Renaud Camus come to mind.
The truth is that adverse reactions involving blood clotting and heart conditions were double the mRNA jabs and those were greater than any previous vaccine. The European agency banned AZ as quickly as possible in March but the NHS and British authorities kept using up stocks and hushed up the risks in order to keep up the jab rate.
I was reluctantly jabbed in late May 21 and wasn’t told about any excess risk but that AZ was 95% effective. I immediately had breathing problems and still cannot walk more than100 yards without stopping for breath.
The trials of AZ used another vaccine as control rather than a placebo.The real absolute effectiveness was tiny but not mentioned. The NHS fraudsters are guilty of thousands of deaths and injuries.

Average age of death from covid apparently 83, so another 100,000 oldies mainly would have died from covid had they not bean jabbed. There are/were about 1.5 million over 80’s in the UK – that would mean a CFR (case fatality rate) of nearly 7% – that’s some cool deadly virus – Ferguson was right!
AI reads government propaganda and regurgitates it. The stats are fiddled in various ways to change the definition of vaccinated and to ignore the other diseases and allocate death to covid. The excess death rate was also fiddled by altering the base rate half way when it was going too high during the booster period.

According to my shaky maths this would have meant a CFR of nearly 7% – average age of death from covid 83 -population of over 80’s being roughly 1.5 million.
