Lucy Connolly Warned She Faces Prison Recall for Sharing Tongue-in-Cheek Post About Venezuela
Lucy Connolly says she is being threatened with a return to prison after probation officers sent her a warning letter about her social media posts in recent weeks, including a tongue-in-cheek post about Venezuela. The Mail has more.
The former childminder from Northampton was jailed for 31 months in October 2024 for stirring up racial hatred against asylum seekers after the Southport murders.
She was released from prison last August after serving 40% of her sentence and has been serving the remainder on licence under the probation service’s supervision.
But the 42 year-old claims she has now been sent a “warning letter” after retweeting a comment on X appearing to joke that President Donald Trump should remove Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the same way the US seized Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
Connolly said she was also warned about an interview she gave GB News last month about activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah, who returned to the UK after being released from detention in Egypt before attracting criticism over his past social media posts.
She served 380 days in prison but could be returned to jail if she commits any further offences before her licence period is over or breaches her release conditions.
Connolly told Dan Wootton’s Outspoken show yesterday: “I am at the stage now – my original tweet aside, we’re not talking about that, we’re not talking about those words – I generally don’t know what is okay by their standards to say and what is not.
“I’ve been pulled up for several things last week with a warning letter which is telling me that it’s not of good behaviour. And none of which I’m in agreeance with.”
It comes after she retweeted a message by X user ‘The Jackal’ who wrote on January 3rd: “Dear @realDonaldTrump – now you’ve taken out the socialist Venezuelan undemocratic PM, any chance you can pop over to the UK and do the same here? @Keir_Starmer is a complete c**t. Thanks muchly – Great Britain.”
The Jackal’s post was retweeted 5,700 times, liked 44,000 times, viewed 533,000 times and attracted 1,200 comments.
Connolly told Wootton: “I reshared a tweet of someone else’s where they jokingly, you know, tongue-in-cheek, said, ‘could you come and get… if Trump could come and take Starmer like they did, you know, in Iran, sorry, in Venezuela’.
“And apparently somebody called probation and said they were very offended by this post and it’s inciting violence, so I got a b****cking.”
She added that probation had also mentioned “something else that I said on GB News, I was talking about the [Alaa Abd] El-Fattah situation”.
Connolly continued: “I’m genuinely at the point now where I feel like, can you just give me a list of thing that I am allowed to say?
“Because every time I say something that you don’t agree with or that you don’t find funny, you’re threatening to recall me to prison. Obviously I don’t want that to happen.
“I completely appreciate for all the lunatics out there that I am on licence, I must toe the line, adhere my licence conditions, but, again, they tell us time and time and time again that we have free speech in this country.
“And those that will argue with me will go ‘well, we do have free speech but we don’t have incitement and we don’t have violence’.
“Fine, even if I accept that, I don’t think you’ll find anything on my Twitter since I’ve made a return to Twitter since I’ve been to prison, that you would deem offensive or incitement. It’s just not.”

Probation service is acting outside their remit. If they try to re-imprison her I hope FSU will intervene.
As some bloke said recently:
You can say anything you want, as long as it’s either in the Labour manifesto, or has been approved in advance by a committee of short haired women who hate you.
short haired fat women who hate you
Short blue died haired fat Lesbians. Or men pretending to be short haired fat Lesbians.
Let’s be precise, eh?
No, some of them are scrawny.
No, some of them are scrawny, from those vegan diets.
Once more I think the regime is over reaching
Attempts to suppress opinions the establishment doesn’t like in the last ten years have had exactly the opposite effect to the one they hoped for
Conspiracy theorists are now mainstream, language formerly confined to crackpots like us is everywhere
You think?!
😂😉
Probation officers have always been rather stupid or keeping quiet and pretending to be.
Mark Drakeford, former Welsh First minster was a probation officer before that officer. He was a thoroughly vindictive and abusive controller. That was on top of stupidity and he would not have known hor to keep quiet.
Mark Drakeford’s adoptive son is not due to be released from prison until May 2027. Are you suggesting there is a connection?
Hahahaha, and there was I thinking I lived in a free democratic society….
But you do, we do have free speech in this country because Keir Starmer tells you, you do and if you dare disagree with that our glorious leader will jail you for saying things that harm the collective good.
The probation officer who sent that stupid authoritarian censorious letter to Connolly should be in prison.
Sorry Lucy, you have the wrong ethnicity.
Why not just open a SOCIAL MEDIA GULAG for all the non conformists who won’t align with GOVERNMENT APPROVED SPEECH AND THOUGHT? ——The UK has way more arrests for SPEECH than any other country. Not just a littlebit more but a LOT MORE. ——–When you remove free speech you remove FREEDOM and that is the whole idea.
It’s a demonstration of how much Two-Tier fears her.
Unfortunately we don’t live in a Country that allows free speech, only sanctioned speech.
We don’t get to decide what is considered offensive and what is not, that would be the tyrants in charge, who make it up as they go along!
Quite honestly, until her license period has expired, its probably best to avoid certain Social Media platforms, they are clearly targeting her specifically.
At some point in the future she should receive a full pardon and large compensation for unlawful imprisonment and a miscarriage of justice, but that won’t happen whilst we have this current group of hideous communists.
And Lucy’s compensation should be taken from those who gaoled her NOT the taxpayers, many of who support her.
Not sure whether she’s taking the piss, or being stupid. Either way, she seems to have an addiction to posting stuff on social media. So much for her care for her daughter and her husband, both needing support. Surely she must realise that the “system” / SW1 machine is out to get her under any pretext whatsoever given the vocal support she’s received from the anti-establishment media (e.g.: Alison Pearson at the Telegraph). She’s in their cross-hairs so I’d have thought a period of restraint, keeping her head down, refraining from social media and devoting more concern / thought about the consequences on her family of breaching her licence conditions would have been a wiser move.
She has just as much right to speak her mind as anyone else.
Lucy Connolly opens door to standing as MP after issuing major rallying cry
She is no collaborator. Principles take courage and she’s not short of that.
Imagine being so hated, you can never go anywhere, banned from all pubs restuarants etc….abuse hurled on the street…..
And knowing that less that 1 in five of the electorate voted for the party your represent. I wonder how many Labour MPs even managed to get the support of 25% of their voters.
It would almost be worth a snotty email to the relevant Probation office to suggest they focus on violent offenders rather than housewives whom they find offensive. The only thing that stops me is uncertainty whether the Northampton Probation service are the jobsworths in question or some other authority, as she has been moved around a bit.
