UAE Cuts Funding for Citizens to Study in UK Over Concerns About Islamic Radicalisation on Campuses

The United Arab Emirates has cut funding for its citizens to study at British universities over concerns about Islamic radicalisation on campuses as the Muslim Brotherhood continues to be unproscribed in the UK. The Financial Times has the story.

The United Arab Emirates has restricted funding for its citizens who want to study at British universities, the latest sign of tensions over the UK’s decision not to proscribe the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood group.

Abu Dhabi’s decision to exclude UK institutions from a list of universities eligible for state scholarships comes as relations between the two historic allies have frayed in recent years.

In June, the UAE Higher Education Ministry published a list of global universities for which scholarships would be approved and qualifications certified, as part of reforms that limited funding to the best-performing institutions.

The list included universities in countries including the US, Australia, Israel and France, but not the UK, which is home to many of the world’s top academic institutions.

The exclusion of British universities is linked to anxiety in the UAE over what it sees as the risk of Islamist radicalisation on UK campuses, according to three people familiar with the matter.

When UK officials queried the absence of British institutions on the June list, UAE officials said the omission had not been an “oversight”, according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions.

“[The UAE] don’t want their kids to be radicalised on campus,” the person added.

In response, UK officials underscored the importance of academic freedom, the person said.

How have we got to the stage where our decadent, degenerate, deranged, death-wishing Establishment prefers, promotes, and gives special privileges to the islamo-fascists?

It will not be long and the BBC and Guardian will be celebrating the arrival of more terrorists in the UK. Two Tier will meet them at the airport – probably on his knees to kiss their feet.

A moderate Arab nation deters its students from being educated at universities in a Western country whose government proposes to bring in laws against “Islamophobia.”

Another one you couldn’t make up if you tried.

It cannot be said often enough that this situation did not come about when Starmer took office. Of course the actions of his government has made the situation worse and their failure to clear up this mess is a disgrace. But the damage was done during those awful 14 years of inattention, carelessness and downright pandering to all the wrong interests by the Tories.

Absolutely agreed. The Tories lit the kindling and Labour have poured petrol on it.

Well the UK will just have to send an even larger proportion of its youth to uni in order to make sure that none of the institutions go bankrupt.

You know it makes sense.

The fact that such action will lower standards and make our universities even less attractive to overseas students and the people that fund them is, of course, merely a problem for the future.

Combine this article with the Facebook post by Robert Jenrick yesterday

add to that the infiltration of the civil service by the CSMN and the refusal of the unions such as the FDA and you realise that the whole of our government structure has been lost to the indigenous population of this country. The likes of Matt Goodwin state that the indigenous population will be a minority in twenty or thirty years if we continue down the road of uncontrolled mass immigration but when the police, the civil service, the education system etc are all supine to a radical bunch of extremists, being the majority doesn’t matter. For some reason, the empathetic suicidals are doing the Islamist work for them.
