The Metropolitan Police hired officers who failed background checks to boost diversity, including a man accused of raping a child. The Mail has more.
Pc Cliff Mitchell was welcomed by Scotland Yard in 2020 despite having been investigated in 2017 for raping a child.
It emerged Mitchell was allowed to join the force after a vetting panel – partly focused on improving diversity – overturned the decision to reject him despite the unproven allegation.
But in September 2023, while a serving Met officer, Mitchell violently raped a woman before kidnapping her at knifepoint.
The victim had been raped and abused over a number of years and Mitchell used his position as a police officer to intimidate her.
When Mitchell was arrested, the historic allegations were reinvestigated and he was charged with an additional three counts of rape of a child under 13.
Mitchell was subsequently convicted of 13 counts of rape, including six against a child, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 13 years in May 2024.
The 26 year-old was among more than 100 applicants who were allowed to join the force despite failing background checks after they were referred to a special panel set up to examine rejected applications from ethnic minority candidates.

In a bid to hit diversity targets – set up by former Met commissioner Dame Cressida Dick – the force allowed standards to slip and let Mitchell and others become police officers.
Mitchell and another 24 officers were given a second chance to join the Met who then went on to commit criminal offences or misconduct, including violence, sex attacks and drug use.
Yesterday, the Daily Mailreported that more than 130 officers and staff let in due to vetting failures then went on to commit crimes or misconduct.
In a scandal which will raise questions about criminals in uniform across the UK, the Met was one of at least six forces to secretly drop employment checks on new recruits in a rush for extra cash as part of an attempt to find 20,000 new officers.
As a result, thousands of officers and staff across England and Wales were employed without any basic employment reference checks, according to a damning report.
Details emerged in a bombshell Met recruitment audit which revealed the “Home Office [and] National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) were aware that some other forces in England were not taking references” of new recruits despite the obvious risk to the public.
The Daily Mail has learnt that the Met was one of six forces to admit in a NPCC survey that it had “deviated” from national police regulations during the £3 billion Police Uplift Programme between July 2019 and March 2023.
But sources said the true number may be higher as some forces failed to respond to the NPCC poll.
The judge sets a minimum term, according to nature/severity of the crime, the circumstances, according to sentencing guidelines before parole can be considered. It may not be granted.
If someone with a Life Sentence is paroled, say after 13 years, they remain free on licence for the rest of their lives. Their licence will specify certain terms and if the individual commits another crime, they will be returned to prison to serve the rest of their Life Sentence.
A judge may award a Whole Life Sentence which means there is no possibility of parole.
The criminal justice system in this country is laughably weak. If you plan to commit crime, come to the UK to do it because we have such soft sentencing, both in the guidelines and in the judges who follow them.
We live in a country run by people who despise themselves.

The people who will lose out in this diversity drive are the very people it’s supposed to help. When we see a person from a minority group in authority, will we think they’re only there to hit diversity targets and not because they are good at their job?
It will never happen but every MSM article that carelessly uses the word “diversity” should make clear exactly what this means – RACIAL “diversity” or SEX “diversity” etc., not the infinite number of other ways in which people can be diverse. We should not use the language of the enemy, which is designed to deceive and confuse.
That’s pointless because they don’t have a clue (nor do they want to have a clue) – which no doubt is your point.
When confronted by someone who starts blabbering on about diversity there is only one question one needs to ask oneself. Is this person a sociopathic bully that is just trying to impose him or herself on me or is this person a weak, frightened individual who has been bullied into this.
I guess my point was to put these questions into the minds of people reading who don’t have much of an opinion on this stuff or have never really thought about it properly before. I think such people do exist and I think at least some of them might start realising what a bogus concept “diversity” is if it’s pointed out to them.
Diversity is pushed and championed by sociopathic bullies. And supported by weak people who don’t know how to stand up to bullies.

I am sick to death of these diversity hire women put into senior positions just because they are female, and are completely incompetent at their job. The woman at the BBC just honoured Rachel Reeves, surely the worst chancellor in history; also the woman who ruined John Lewis; the woman head of the NHS – another that was honoured recently, I could go on. What really P’s me off is that I worked harder than any male in my chosen career, and I was bloody good at my job, I ended up as a board Director, and ran my own business, which was a success. Idiot incompetent women like these DEI hires give the rest of us a bad name and make it harder for us.
Cressida Dick needs to be jailed, for this and for her abject failure to investigate the Midazolam murders and the mass murder of British citizens by the use of a known bio weapon dressed up as a “vaccine”.
