Britain Signs Deal to Deploy Troops to Ukraine

Britain has signed a deal to deploy boots on the ground in Ukraine as part of a proposed ceasefire deal backed for the first time by the United States. The Telegraph has more.

Sir Keir Starmer signed a joint declaration with France and Ukraine on Tuesday to confirm details of the so-called “Multinational Force” set to help uphold any peace agreement.

The declaration paves a legal pathway for British and French forces to operate on Ukrainian soil to help rebuild the war-torn nation’s armed forces and police its skies and seas.

At a meeting of the ‘coalition of the willing’ in Paris, the US agreed for the first time to “to support the force in case of attack”, according to a statement agreed by around 40 leaders of European governments and Canada.

Washington also promised to lead a high-tech operation to monitor any ceasefire line agreed between Ukraine and Russia to attribute blame for any violations.

Donald Trump’s commitment to provide an American backstop for those troops has been described by European sources as a game-changer. Moscow has refused to accept any Nato presence in Ukraine. …

However, as yet “no backstop for the security force has actually been agreed”, according to the Telegraph‘s Roland Oliphant.

Starmer, Macron, and Zelensky referred only to American involvement in ceasefire monitoring. They are still working on the backstop question.

Asked to elaborate, Mr Witkoff insisted: “This security protocols are meant to deter any further attacks on Ukraine, and if there are any attacks, they are meant to defend,” but avoided specifics – although he said the US military has been “thinking about” it.

That means the ultimate security guarantee – the implication that going to war with Ukraine again would mean going to war with the United States – is still not in place.

didn’t realise either country shared a border with Ukraine so why are we the first to commit?

Why would any country commit. Does Britain have plenty of money to secure the peace deal in ukraine. I thought the eu and britain are failing financially?

Russia will never accept British (or probably any NATO) troops in Ukraine, so its all theatrical posturing … so typical of today’s infantile political class in Europe.

Since Russia is going to achieve its goals in Ukraine (ie WIN), and Nato is going to LOSE, Russia will call the shots on what happens after the SMO ends, not puerile tossers like Starmer, Macron, Mertz etc.

At some point, some real diplomacy will need to begin, since there hasn’t been any yet, just western clowns ‘negotiating’ with each other … about what exactly?

Never thought of that. Yes send over all your thousands of housed illegal immigrants. You are spending millions on them anyway, might as well give them a rifle and have them live in ukraine.

I hope all these Ukraniacs – those who “stand with Ukraine”, with stupid flags o their cars and social media bios – are straight down to the Armed Forces Careers Office tomorrow. If they are too old they can enlist their kids or grandkids to go and fight a nuclear superpower in some sh*thole corrupt country a thousand miles away.

Have at it.

Attempt number 148 by the UK and EU to get “security guarantees” from the US to go to war with Russia.

It’s identical every time. Zelensky and some combo of European leaders proclaim the US is in favour of security guarantees and the US is like… yeah, we’re still thinking about it.

If this were a guy trying to get a date, it would be considered harassment.

Just look at that photo of those Three Smirking Warmongers, NONE of whom will SEND THEIR OWN SONS TO DIE in the Ukrainian Meatgrinder War that has nothing to do with Europe or Britain. It is NOT OUR PROBLEM, and never was our problem!

Not one member of “The Coalition of the Willing” is willing to send their own sons to die there.

And NOT ONE of their legislatures have voted on this… yet another slimy manoeuvre by Whining Zelensky to prolong the war and keep himself in power without holding elections.

This is yet another attempt to Send White Men to Die in Foreign Wars, and the survivors to be prosecuted later by greedy lawyers.

WE DO NOT CONSENT.

Hilarious. These clowns are merely trying to reassert their relevance in a world where Russia and America call the shots.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff together with Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner spent 4 hours taking with the Russians in Moscow last month. They promptly returned to Washington, completely ignoring European/UK expectations of a de-briefing, and boycotting the Little Green Goblin who had flown to Miami with similar expectations.

The US has no respect for the Europeans or Zelensky, who it now (rightly) regards as wreckers, determined to sabotage Washington’s efforts at a negotiated settlement with the Russians, repeatedly coming up with one “plan” after another which they know are totally unacceptable to Russia, who only ever wanted what America itself demands (Monroe Doctrine) – NEUTRAL STATES & SECURITY ON ITS BORDERS.

They are the Globalist Cabal’s last men standing, since the Kamala Harris Presidency bid failed (due to Trump turning his targeted head just the right amount for the bullet to miss), so grind on following the orders of their masters, who remain unseen, but whose effects are in plain sight.

They are tragi-comedy. And the tragedy is for the people of Europe.

Most of the people involved in this and previous meetings are desperate for their good war, so that they can seem strong to their people and recover the popularity they think they had when they won their elections, which they instantly pissed away. Previous leaders have done this trick with various degrees of justification, but none was locking horns with a country that is willing to sacrifice uncountable numbers of their people to win, as they have shown in wars over centuries, each of which they eventually won. This is a flare up of an internal dispute between Western Ukrainians and largely Russian Eastern Ukrainians, following the EU/US inspired coup overthrowing the legitimate government of Ukraine that was favourable to the Eastern side. Russia is seeking to protect its sphere of influence and retain a buffer between itself and the aggressive expansionist EU and NATO, who promised Russia that they would not move towards the Russian border and then did. Russia has been invaded, dismantled and lost more of its people from Western Europe invasion, the Napoleonic wars, the Crimean war, the second world war, so it is hardly surprising that we are regarded with suspicion. Putin is an evil,… Read more »

Utterly disgraceful! Yet more fodder for the courts to prosecute 40 years later, should they have the temerity to act like soldiers.

Many inside government and out consider that this country is already at war with Russia. https://labourlist.org/2026/01/labour-must-protect-uk-and-deter-russia/ Certainly, Russia has already attacked civilians on British soil with CBRN materials, one fatality and a policeman seriously injured, ‘…the OPCW deployed a technical assistance team to independently determine the nature of the substance…..The results of the analysis confirmed the findings of the United Kingdom relating to the identity of the toxic chemical. The toxic chemical compound displayed the same toxic properties of a nerve agent……the summary of the report publicly available.’ ‘Sarah Bailey, wife of former detective sergeant Nick Bailey: “Not quite sure where to start with this. Compensation package? injury on duty pay out? Nick retired 7 weeks ago and he’s still fighting for part of his pension. You even said he resigned. Not the case at all, he’s been medically retired!” The idea that Britain, a signatory to the Budapest Memorandum security assurances regarding Ukraine’s territorial integrity and in breach of those assurances, should have no involvement with Ukraine’s search for peace, is just plain silly. The idea that Britain has any troops to station in Ukraine is, however, delusional. Further, the idea that Putin will accept British troops in Ukraine is not to be… Read more »

What I find incredible is the fact that Starmer and Macron appear to believe what they are saying; that their plan will work. Putting aside the fact that the UK no longer has any defence forces worthy of the name (I am not casting aspersions on the individual men and women in our forces) we cannot even stop little rubber dinghies with their unarmed contents from invading us across the channel. We are actually picking up these ‘invaders’ in our border patrol vessels and bringing them safely to shore. So will the cunning plan be the same for the Russian invaders in Ukraine – we will pick them up at the border and transport them directly to KIEV. Result – Instant peace. I know that this sounds ridiculous but so is the proposed solution of the Coalition of the Willing. Putin must be laughing his socks off.
