US special forces have captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a “brilliant” helicopter raid on Caracas following air strikes across the country this morning. He faces charges of narco-terrorism. The Telegraph has more.
Donald Trump said the dictator and his wife had been detained in a “brilliant operation” that began with air strikes and saw Black Hawks and Chinooks flying low across Caracas.
Both had been indicted in New York within hours of the operation, charged with narco-terrorism and possession of machine guns.
“They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,” Pam Bondi, the US Attorney General said.
Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, told Senators that he expected “no further action in Venezuela now that Mr Maduro is in US custody”.
The Venezuelan leader has been the subject of an arrest warrant, with a $50 million (£37 million) reward for information leading to his arrest. His capture follows an extraordinary build-up of US military might in the Caribbean as the Trump administration attempted to pressure the Maduro regime to surrender.
Early morning footage on Saturday showed rockets raining down on Caracas and smoke rising above the skyline. The Venezuelan Government declared a state of emergency, saying strikes had hit the capital and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.
Mr Maduro was reportedly captured by members of Delta Force, the US military’s special mission unit, according to CBS News. The elite unit was also responsible for killing Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the former Islamic State leader, in 2019.
In a post on Truth Social, Mr Trump said:
The bombing raid came after months of threats from Trump that he would take action if Venezuela did not prevent drug-smuggling boats heading towards the US.
The US State Department also recently branded Maduro the head of a “narco-terrorist state”.
Since August, the US has increased pressure on Venezuela by flying sorties close to its border, building up naval forces in the region, and killing suspected drug smugglers on motor boats.
On Thursday, Maduro said he wanted to reach a deal with Trump, potentially keeping him in power, maintaining his vast wealth and securing him immunity from prosecution – while also allowing the US to access Venezuela’s oil.
Stop Press: Trump has said the US will run Venezuela “until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition”. From the Telegraph:
“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” the US President told a press conference in Mar-a-Lago.
He said the Venezuelan leader’s Vice-President was now in power, but that he had promised to do “anything” the US wants.
Mr Trump added that the “people standing behind me”, who included Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, would help run the country.
He did not rule out putting US boots on the ground and threatened Venezuela’s remaining leaders, warning: “All political and military figures should bear in mind that what happened to Maduro could happen to them.”
He also warned that a second wave of attacks on Venezuela could take place “if we need to do so”.
He said oil companies would soon be sent in to fix the infrastructure “and start making money”.

According to the BBC:
Sir Keir earlier said the UK had not been involved in Saturday’s large-scale strikes on Venezuela and he had not spoken to Trump about the operation that resulted in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro.
Well of course they wouldn’t tell the UK government or civil service before the operation. They know they’d ‘accidentally’ leak the info.
Given the conduct of Kneel and his co-traitors these last eighteen months I would consider Donald Trump to be a fool if he was to include him in any discussions above and beyond the price of fish.
Lets face it Trump is telling Starmer as little as possible.

This is fantastic news! It’s important to remember that Evil Marxist Dictator Maduro refused to step down after his centrist rival EDMUNDO GONZALEZ WON 67% of the Presidential election vote in 2024. Marxist Maduro used the same tactics as Marxist Lula in Brazil, teaming up with the corrupt judiciary to fabricate the election results and seize power. Who is Edmundo Gonzalez, exiled Venezuelan opposition leader likely to become president?- The Week ” Four days after the July 2024 elections, the National Electoral Council (CNE), said to be backed by the ruling party, declared Maduro as the winner, claiming that he had 51.2 per cent of the vote, as compared to 44.2 per cent for Gonzalez, as per an El Pais report.” “However, the opposition’s voter tallies showed a different picture—that Gonzalez had won 67 per cent of the vote, while Maduro had only garnered 30 per cent.” “This discrepancy—followed by a number of countries, including the US—recognising Gonzalez as the winner, led to political pressure on the career diplomat, who had risen to the ranks from his experience as an ambassador to Argentina under Hugo Chavez’s first presidency (1998-2002).” “Gonzalez was forced to take refuge in two embassies in Caracas—first that of the Netherlands,… Read more »
Thanks for that important interview link with the Venezuelan Patriot, which I’ll finish watching later, if I can endure the insufferable interruptions of Francis Foster, who seems to be a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, masquerading as a Free Speech advocate while continually siding with Wokeness, getting in sly digs at patriotic guests and whining about racism. I can’t stand the sight nor sound of him.

I was a stranger to the emotion of envy until Trump won this term in office. Since when it has become a familiar feeling. There are many reasons for Venezuela and the USA to celebrate this act of liberation. Trump derangement syndrome will go into overdrive for sure.
Yes, the USA doesn’t have a great record of improving the lot of the people in its long history of regime change activism. The US led Ukranian regime change proxy war is just one tragic example.
Do you mean the war that Ukraine was on the verge of ending soon after it started, but Boris Johnson & the EU Warmongers persuaded Ukraine NOT TO SIGN any peace treaty, and NOT TO END THE WAR?

OH, NO!!! The latest news says that the Hardline Communist Female Vice-President is declaring herself to be a place-holder for Communist Dictator ELECTION CHEAT MADURO, and looking at her history, it’s not surprising.
Marxist Delcy Rodriguez is the daughter of the Evil Marxist Terrorist Jorge Antonio Rodriquez, whose Marxist Gang kidnapped American businessman WILLIAM NIEHOUS in 1976, holding him captive for more than THREE YEARS in the Venezuelan jungle. He would have died there if not for rural police chasing cattle thieves:
“His kidnapping is the longest in Venezuela’s political history, holding him captive for more than three years. After a few months, the government stopped negotiating with the kidnappers. Niehous was found by chance by rural police on June 30, 1979, when they were searching for cattle thieves, CHAINED TO A POLE IN A CABIN in a southern province.”
And how was the Marxist Terrorist Kidnapper Scum Rodriquez and his Marxist Terrorist Scum family, including his Marxist Terrorist wife, punished for this?
His Marxist Terrorist Scum daughter Delcy is now VICE-PRESIDENT, and his Marxist Terrorist Scum son Jorge Rodriguez Gomez is now PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF VENEZUELA !!!
Who says crime doesn’t pay, especially under Communism?
Here is a photo of American businessman William Niehous after his rescue, manacles still on his wrists, and later when he was reunited with his wife and children:

A fascinating comment on Infowars about this:
“In the 90s, I worked for an international company. My Venezuelan peers were quite well-heeled, well educated, and definitely a level or two above us Americans. I couldn’t understand why a nation that well off would ever vote in a socialist/communist until the Venezuelan men quietly explained that it was Venezuelan women, who had ingested feminism and its equality beliefs, who were the ones who voted in what would obviously destroy them. One of my peers, who was originally from Mexico, warned that America was heading in the same direction.”
Wonder if the likes of Soros, American Aid, Clinton Foundation and lots of others of the billionaire activist set chipped in for the Venezuelan project you set out.
Absolutely spot on! It set me thinking about how that idea extends to many other aspects, as Oxford journalist David Thomas bravely described in his 1993 book “Not Guilty: In Defence of the Modern Man”. He pointed out the pattern of feminist wives taking complete control of their husband’s earnings, deciding where the couple will live, how the home will be decorated (such as discarding his favourite paintings or possessions), what the husband will wear, which friends he can have, how many children they will have, and even which career moves he should make, whether he likes it or not. For example, the feminist actress who became resentful when her actor husband got his “dream job” playing Dr. Watson to Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes, because the film production was in another town, so he could only come back home at weekends to see her and their toddler. She apparently insisted that he quit his job to help her with babysitting, so she lined up another actor to replace him, and made her husband leave his role-of-a-lifetime (to the dismay of the viewers) in order to work on theatre acting projects with her, while making him say publicly that it was… Read more »
I think this knee-jerk women-blaming is incredibly lame, especially considering that the people who do this cannot possibly know who really voted for whom in Venezuelan elections. The notion that women are “obviously” intellectually inferior to men and hence, just wrote wrong (and catastrophe will certainly occur as they’ve been allowed to vote and do other things only MEN should be allowed to decide) sound like a typical Incel-story to me.
Does “sour grapes” perhaps ring a bell somewhere, guys?
You’re way off the mark, there. I read many years ago that the Globalists developed feminism to target women, because the women were easier to flatter and deceive, and would then control their men for the Globalists without realizing it.
The Destruction of the Family, and the Depopulation Agenda, are all part of the plan, and feminists, particularly western feminists, have been instrumental in driving the Globalist agenda forward without even realizing it.
I read many years ago that the Globalists developed feminism to target women, because the women were easier to flatter and deceive, and would then control their men for the Globalists without realizing it.
I read that some men believe that women are intellectually inferior to men and that feminism just causes them to become uppity when they really shouldn’t as they should only exist for the sexual gratification of men and do to work said men are too darned lazy to do themselves in your original comment which wasn’t that long ago. That’s the core of the typical Incel-myth and I sometimes wonder how incredibly backwards many people from the USA actually are.
The German foundational law contains an article

I don’t understand your post, apparently attributing comments to me that I have never made and would never make! It seems you are confusing me with someone else’s comments you seem to have read on here, and no doubt they were being sarcastic. It sounds like things a feminist would say to be sarcastic while playing the usual feminist “victim”.
Maduro was elected fairly in Venezuela as agreed by other presidential candidates and 900 international observers that came from over 95 countries including the National Lawyers Guild.
Western leaders say that Maduro is not the legitimate leader only because they didn’t get the result they wanted.
The majority of Venezuelans support Maduro. It is only the minority opposition who are cheering his demise and many of those that have suffered from stringent US sanctions.
Trump has trampled all over international law and has destabilized the world due to his greed for other countries natural resources and US hegemony.
China, Russia, the other BRICS+/SCO+ nations and all other countries in the world now know (if they didn’t know already) that the US cannot be trusted.
Nonsense.
Trump is interested only in bringing democracy to Venezuela as it has to many countries especially since WW2 ended and has absolutely no interest whatsoever in thieving/controlling their oil (Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves) a la Syria – who we bombed last night.
The only escape from US hegemony is to embrace their capitalist banksters or have The Bomb.
Which explains –
Libya, Vietnam, Syria, Iraq x2, Iran.
Also explains Russia/Ukraine.
Um… do you mean the Ukraine that was about to sign a peace agreement with Russia at the very beginning of that war, before Boris Johnson persuaded them not to?
Rubbish! Gonzalez won 67% of the vote, as explained above. The majority of Venezuelans hate Communist Dictator Maduro, and that’s why they are celebrating all over Venezuela at the news: cheering, dancing in the streets, honking their horns, waving Venezuelan flags, and tearing down the gigantic photos of himself had put up everywhere.

Many polling firms inside Venezuela are run by opposition figures and are notorious for their political bias. The most respectable independent firm in the country is the pollster Hinterlaces, which estimated in its exit poll that Maduro got 54.6% of the vote, compared to 42.8% for González. Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) ultimately reported that Maduro won the election with 51.2% of the vote, whereas González received 44.2%, and eight other opposition candidates got 4.6% combined. [This is not supposed to imply any moral outrage. Just “calling a spade a spade.”]
The latest US-forced regime change seems to have a lot of convenient upsides which look to be far less connected to ‘democracy’ – a strange concept for Americans – and more connected to control of oil and narcotics. Coincidence? I wouldn’t be so sure. We applaud these things at our peril, and before we know it we have a world destabilised by the actions of the few and a country that’s no longer our home.
