Met Office Laughably Proclaims Hottest Year Ever by 0.06°C – Despite its Weather Stations Having Uncertainties of 1°C and More
Predictably, the Met Office has just announced last year was the hottest and sunniest on record. Laughably, the year was supposedly 0.06°C warmer than 2022.
No serious scientific organisation would claim accuracy to such a tiny margin, which says an awful lot about the Met Office’s credibility in these matters. Given the dreadful siting of nearly all the weather stations that make up its UK temperature dataset, the Met Office cannot possibly know the average UK temperature to within even a whole degree centigrade – eight out of 10 stations are officially classified according to World Meteorological Organisation standards as having uncertainties of at least two degrees stemming from artificial heating.

Guess what. The Met Office said about a week before the end of 2025 the record would be broken if there was not a cold spell by 31st December. Well it was cold and still they say the record was broken.
As we knew they would. No honesty or accuracy just manipulation to suit the climate alarmism narrative.
Broken by six hundredths of a degree. Can you see that on your thermometer? No, of course not. If I turned your heating up by that much would you notice – of course not. The Met Office is just a propaganda group these days.
How much are they paid to push the propaganda? Humans emit 20 particles of Co2 per million….90% is reused, recycled, there is no greenhouse (another non-science). We want more not less Co2. Jan 2026 is already the hottest January evah…..ahhhh.
This is a good point from the article:
“CO2 emissions don’t extend sunlight duration. What has definitely boosted the amount of sunshine we get is the massive reduction in air pollution in recent decades, the result of successive Clean Air Acts beginning in the 1950s“
Accuracy, Precision, Tolerance, & Met Office. Three of those four are established engineering terms; guess which one doesn’t fit.
Last years results are within the limits of accuracy, so nothing to worry about, some might say – but not most politicians or there agents. It doesn’t sell.
If you submitted an engineering report with a calculated result of an accuracy greater than that of your measuring instruments you would rightly be laughed at.
Despite the Met Office output, there has always been a fair bit of variation from year to year related to the performance of the weather. Not just peak temperature, but the timing of events like cloud cover, related sunshine hours, & rainfall. Hence the condition of the ground and the performance of plants varies a lot from year to year.
They had around a hundred thermometers that weren’t even working, or not there. The ‘data’ from these imaginary thermometers has been quickly deleted recently when they were found out. The IPCC have also been caught fiddling the data.
Newsflash:
The Met Office has just reported that it is clear from their weather observations and climate models that 2026 is the hottest year ever recorded in the UK. “This incontrovertably demonsrates that human-induced global warming is impacting the UK’s climate” said top scientist Hugh Slessgrifter.
This incontrovertably demonstrates that the Met Office are fraudulent.
Self preservation is a very powerful force. If these people were honest and said there’s nothing much to worry about, tens of thousands of people would lose their jobs, including the friends and colleagues of the people putting out these false alarms. So it’s imperative to maintain the myth that the seas are boiling, ice-caps melting and coastal cities becoming uninhabitable. Yet you only need to pick up a holiday brochure, with cruises to the Arctic, city breaks and sunshine in the Maldives, to see none of the past climate science predictions are in any way accurate.
76 is still the hottest summer I have ever experienced in the England – a gloriously warm sea at Bournemouth for at least a month, or more – daily forest fires in the New Forest, some huge and lasting days – so hot that even hand out the window while driving made no difference. Below is a picture of the Thames which has not been this dry, probably for a very long time, or since.
If I use sea temperature as a marker based on how easily I can enter the water then there have been no years since 1976 that come close.
I would add that using statistics to determine ‘hottest’ years is deceptive while the flora and fauna are not affected by a 100th degree C rises in temp.
If your experiment needs statistics, you ought to have done a better experiment
Ernest Rutherford
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Benjamin Disraeli
Four kinds if you include climate science.
Heartily agree as I helped tackle heathland fires during the school holidays – nothing like it since. A Surrey river called the Mole disappeared during that summer where it lived up to its name. It comes from numerous underground chambers it runs in and on completed the last section of the M25 around Leatherhead they ran into unexpected problems due to voids below ground.
And of course the BBC were on the bandwagon last night saying it had been the sunniest so that electricity generation by wind and solar exceeded that of gas. No mention of wood or nuclear, both imported and home-generated, nor any indication that electricity is only a fraction of our energy use – what about the 28 million gas boilers and 20 million gas hobs that we are planning to replace – I doubt we’ll be able to generate that using solar and wind.? Maybe not quite lying but definitely “economical with the actualite”
So expensive subsidised generation exceeded cheap generation – only morons would celebrate such a thing, or those holding investments in unreliables funds.
“In our changing climate”——–This is said as if climate never changed and is only changing now because of our CO2 emissions. —–But the truth is that the climate changes all of the time on all time scales from yearly to decades to centuries to Millenia. What would be unusual would be if the climate didn’t change. The Global Average Temperature (whatever that is supposed to mean) has according to officialdom risen by about 1.2C since 1860, which actually means that temperature is very stable indeed, and it is worth pointing out that half of that warming could not be caused by our emissions as before World War 2 there wasn’t much in the way of Industrialisation, hardly any cars, hardly any planes, no central heating and air conditioning yet the alarmist industry wants to claim all of that alleged 1.2 C was caused by humans. —–SCAM
That 1.2C rise corresponds to the 1.2C (or more) drop in temperature from the Medieval Warm Period into the Little Ice Age. See video below in case you haven’t seen it. And our climate is still Temperate. All the 30 or so climates on Earth are still showing the same characteristics and in roughly the same places. There is no singular Earth climate.

“We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period!”
Trust me I have been investigating this issue since about 2007, and I know what is going on.
The Met office are a government department. The WEF invented the climate scam, it’s a multi trillion dollar industry, paid for by us.
Only a clown would put the economy at risk to promote this nonsense. There are so many unmentioned variables and inaccuracies in the data prepared by the Met Office that to suggest they are scientists is ridiculous. There are good reasons to believe that Ed Milliband should be arrested for malfeasance in public office and at the very least he should be placed in a padded cell before he destroys the economy. He should be proud that his activities most adversely effect the poorest people in our society.
“the sunnier it is, the warmer it is.”
Wow, I never realised this. Thankfully we pay the Met Office millions of pounds a year to do such outstanding Science(tm).
What happens if you include hours of sunlight as an explanatory factor? Given that the greenhouse theory has nothing to do with incoming sunlight it would seem reasonable to adjust for it?
