Don’t Call Immigration a Threat to Britain, Says EHRC Chief

Mary-Ann Stephenson, the new head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, has attacked those who describe immigration as a risk to Britain and said leaving the ECHR would be a “mistake”. The Telegraph has more.

Mary-Ann Stephenson, the Chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), used her first major intervention since taking the job at the beginning of December to warn against the demonisation of immigrants.

Dr Stephenson, who was chosen by Sir Keir Starmer’s administration to succeed Baroness Falkner of Margravine, also said that leaving the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) – the treaty that has been blamed by critics for blocking migrant deportations – would be a mistake.

Her comments signal a shift in approach from her predecessor, who warned last year that integration in Britain appeared to be failing.

Record levels of both legal and illegal migration in recent years have led to concerns about their impact on community cohesion, with protests taking place outside migrant hotels this summer, as well as their cost to the taxpayer.

Reform UK, which has a double-digit poll lead that puts it on track to form the next government, has promised a complete freeze on all non-essential migration.

Labour has responded by toughening its own stance on the issue. In September, the Prime Minister admitted that his party had previously got it wrong on migration, while legislation introduced by Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary, requires migrants to prove their social worth.

In her second interview since being appointed, Dr Stephenson suggested that people should limit negative descriptions of migrants.

She said: “I think it’s really important that we have honesty in the way that we talk about human rights, and that we also have a recognition that the demonisation of migrants, the creating [of] this idea that migration causes huge risks for the country, can make the lives not just of migrants to the UK, but of ethnic minority UK citizens, very, very difficult.”

Before her appointment, Dr Stephenson previously lobbied the Government to abandon its ‘smash the gangs‘ policy and allow more asylum seekers into the country, comparing criticism of refugees to “hostile politics, racist rhetoric and demonising language of the past”.

Nigel Farage, Reform’s leader, led a backlash to her comments on Sunday night. He said: “Reform believes we should deport terrorists, rapists and serious foreign criminals. The vast majority will agree with me that we must prioritise the rights of British people, whatever their ethnicity.”

Public concern about migration is now at its highest level in a decade, according to YouGov polling, with 51% of respondents saying it is one of the most important issues facing Britain.

The cost of operating the UK’s asylum system currently exceeds £5 billion a year, with £2.1 billion of this allocated to housing and supporting tens of thousands of migrants in about 200 hotels.

More than 1.2 million foreigners now claim Universal Credit, while modelling suggests a low-wage migrant who arrives in Britain at the age of 25 will pose a net cost of about £187,000 by 65.

Worth reading in full.

Even more asylum seekers – is she mad? Is 108,000 a year not enough for her? She certainly hasn’t read the public mood. Or more likely doesn’t care what the unwashed masses think of her class’s little experiment in transforming a country via open borders.

Things are certainly getting bad in the UK but spare a thought for those in the EU who are being sanctioned. Here’s a video explaining what is happening and given Starmer’s love of all things EU it looks like it’s heading our way.

community cohesion

Community cohesion, eh? An interesting term which doesn’t apply to white people, it seems. In any case, apparatchiks from the state bourgeoisie like Mary-Ann Stephenson are bound to seek to protect their livelihoods. And what does it matter to her and her ilk that our children are systematically raped by the state bourgeoisie’s population imports? What does it matter to her and her ilk that thousands of our people have been murdered by the population imports?

Indeed. I wonder where Ms Stephenson lives? I would bet a guinea to a gooseberry it will not be in an area which has been “culturally enriched”.

Community: noun – a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and have a common cultural and historical heritage.

That excludes those who do not share cultural and heritage. That is why “multiculturalism” cannot have a common cultural denominator and cannot be a community, why “diversity” which means of a different kind, unlike, causes division not cohesion.

These clowns need to get a dictionary.

“Community cohesion”

Introduce a disruptive element into a relatively stable environment, and then accuse the existing stable environment of being bad and force it to change. The solution is never to stop the disruption. Why not?

“I think it’s really important that we have honesty in the way that we talk about” mass immigration, the damage it is doing to our society, to the risks to the virtue of ladies and girls and to the lives of everybody, to our culture and to our civil rights, as these are eroded in the name of some bogus attempt to crack down on crime which might well not have been necessary otherwise, to our cityscapes blighted by graffiti, knife crime shoplifting and other crimes against the person.

Whilst it is true that not all of these problems can be laid at the door of the most recent immigrants, I think it is undeniable that where people of immigrant stock are in positions of power at municipal level, whatever the causation, the correlation is strong that it will tend to being a 3rd world shithole.

I bet she lives in a very nice, leafy suburb, or village, town, which has neither proximity to a migrant hotel, next to hers, or many of the same young men living on her street. If she has a daughter at school, I bet its not a school where young migrant men loiter around the gates.
My guess is she takes Uber when the tax payer isn’t picking up her chauffeur tab, I suspect when she isn’t Dining in a nice Restaurant, again being paid for by someone else, she is taking in her Deliveroo, from the lovely illegal Migrant, or her shopping in from a van driven by a Migrant. She no doubt empllys a cleaner and a gardener who are not native British, after all these services are much cheaper when provided by a non native, where else does “one find a cleaner”.
Illegal Migration works out very nicely for the political and westminster elite, there is no chance of their daughters being raped or tortured, or transported around the country to service groups of men.

Just because you don’t want lots of immigrants doesn’t mean you are demonising them.

Collectivists always do this. When you don’t want what they want, they accuse you of being morally deficient.

There are lots of things I don’t want which I don’t need to demonise. I just don’t want them.

I don’t need to follow anybody, I just acknowledge the facts as they stand. You stated: “Woke White Women are the ruination of western Christian culture.” How in the world are any amount of women, in whichever position they inhabit within society, going to be held responsible for ruining Christian culture when it’s always been predominantly ‘White Male Woke’ Christian men at the helm? With the obvious exception of this new woman taking over from Welby. How do you even know Stephenson is a Christian? I see that word mentioned nowhere in the article, it’s only you bringing religion into this, which is totally irrelevant to the topic discussed above. How does any white, woke woman outrank an actual religious leader? 🤔 Are you really that desperately wedded to your narrative that you’d ignore contradictory evidence that’s right before your eyes? We’re back to women in an HR department being blamed for whatever the white, woke, male CEO/Chief Constable/gaffer did, aren’t we? Because as long as there’s a woman on the scene, there’s your scapegoat. It matters not that she’s in a subordinate role. Hell, there doesn’t even have to be a woman in the picture. Nobody on here ever… Read more »

I said “Christian culture”, by which I meant European culture in the widest sense, which is self-evidently and overwhelmingly characterised by its Christian heritage. It was not specifically a statement about religion or religious affiliation.

I did not suggest or assert that “Stephenson is a Christian”.

While not in any way seeking to downplay the role of men in Wokism, it is nevertheless an observable phenomenon that many of the people who happen to find themselves in positions of influence or authority in organisations promoting a woke agenda (like open borders “charity” advocates) happen to be white women.

If it appeases you, I’m also happy to recognise that the real players who pull the strings behind the scenes are overwhelmingly male (like George Soros or Mike Bloomberg).

Happy with that?

“it’s really important that we have honesty in the way that we talk about human rights”

I do agree with her on this point.

1. My human rights as an indigenous British citizen supersede the rights of all others bar none. Is that sufficiently honest?

2. The “demonisation” of migrants, particularly those who have forced entry to this country is perfectly legitimate and proper given that they are leeching off British taxpayers and have with their Turd World ways set about the destruction of this country. It is right and proper that we call this out.

3. I CGAF about the difficulties of the illegals. They should not be here still less enjoying Five Star luxury at our expense. For the so-called legals I also CGAF, they made their bed.

Of course “honesty” according to this woman actually means agreeing with her point of view. Foxtrot Oscar lady.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if she was fortunate enough to enjoy some enrichment?

Mary ann are you now telling people what they can and cannot say about immigration? Why do people like you insist on the tyranny of the minority? What about the 90% of British citizens’ human rights. You are supposed to be treating all British citizens equally. You are also supposed to be guaranteeing OUR human rights. Once an immigrant has obtained legal status to stay in your country, they have all the rights and privileges of a British citizen. A very generous arrangement.

I really don’t care what the immigrants are, it is what they believe that bothers me, beliefs are irreconcilable when they are in conflict, there is no reasoning with the holder of any particular belief who has not been reasoned into that belief.
