BREAKING: ‘Superflu’ Wave Goes into Decline Early

The ‘surging’ wave of ‘superflu’ that is supposedly threatening the NHS with collapse this winter has gone into decline early, with prevalence (as measured by the proportion of tests coming back positive for influenza) dropping in the most recent week.

This is earlier than in many previous years, where the peak and drop-off coincided with Christmas.

While there may yet be a further uptick in cases, it means the worries of a runaway epidemic accelerating out of control and bringing health services to their knees (a supposedly “worst case scenario“) have turned out to be misplaced – to the surprise of no Daily Sceptic readers or anyone who follows the data and not just the hysterical media froth.

Here are the charts from the UKHSA surveillance reports (remember those?) that show the drop-off, with a corresponding sharp slowdown in hospital admissions.

Nothing ‘super’ or out of the ordinary there. Turns out the ‘record-breaking’ levels were just a result of a) short records (only starting in 2021) and b) the outbreak arriving a bit earlier, so levels were relatively high for the time of year (at least, compared with the last four years). But early to rise, early to bed, presumably because there are only so many people prone to catch this particular strain of flu. Which is not a lesson that our public health ‘experts’ ever seem to learn.

Stop Press: Carl Heneghan and Tom Jefferson have covered the drop-off, also noting that (to quote the UKHSA report): “Emergency department (ED) attendances for influenza-like-illness (ILI) decreased.”

No lesson seems to be so deeply inculcated by the experience of life as that you should never trust experts.

If you believe the doctors, nothing is wholesome: if you believe the theologians, nothing is innocent: if you believe the soldiers, nothing is safe.

They all require to have their strong wine diluted by a very large admixture of common sense.”

If it is declining (Don’t mention Farr’s law) then it’s solely due to :-
Vaccine take up. (although grossly exaggerated as ever ).
Masking.
The fearporn not having averted the doctors’ strike.
Disease X/new covid or whatever winning the battle of the viruses.

The threatened flu apocalypse turns out to be about as realistic as the promised Russian hordes taking over Europe. And London being under the sea by 2030. The patterns of official doom-warnings in the modern west are so boringly predictable now, aren’t they?

There’s still time. Khan would be upset either way.

(Ok. Yes, and quite a few others. Sorry Valerie).

And on the BBC SW news this evening, “Superflu cases continue to rise” and doctors advise everyone to get vaccinated |(even though vaccination during an epidemic is contraindicated).

I’m hoping some time before I’m 6 feet under, people will realise you don’t ‘catch’ illnesses, rather you expose oneself to environmental toxins. Only then, will this hubristic and pseudo-scientific nonsense that’s called ‘virology’ be rejected.
