Brace Yourselves Once Again for the Mask Madness
“They’re here.”
Many will recall the little girl from the 1982 Poltergeist film, standing in front of the TV set, announcing the return of the malevolent spirits. These iconic words seem an appropriate way to announce the reappearance of the pro-mask ghouls who, over recent days, have been beseeching us all to wear a face covering to protect ourselves (and, of course, the NHS) from the consequences of the scary-sounding ‘super flu’.
It is the usual suspects who are screaming again. A senior NHS mandarin, Daniel Elkeles, has said that the UK faces “a tidal wave” of illness and that people should “get back into the habit” of mask-wearing. Pandemic industry technocrats at the UK Health Security Agency have repeated their highly dubious claims that strapping pieces of porous plastic across our airways can protect ourselves and others from those pesky microscopic pathogens. Most predictably of all, Professor Trish Greenhalgh has popped her pantyhose-clad head above her ideological trench to broadcast the benefits of multi-layered face coverings. And of course, the BBC has been keen to amplify this nonsense in its reporting of specific hospitals that are recommending masks for their staff and service users.
It hardly warrants repeating that the more robust scientific studies, together with the bulk of the real-world evidence, show that masks constitute an ineffectual viral barrier, and no amount of evidential cherry-picking and fantastical claims about ‘source control’ will change that conclusion. And how do the muzzle mafia manage to avoid any consideration of the multiplicity of significant harms associated with ubiquitous masking? Maybe their mono-focused minds don’t care about the collateral damage of their crusade. After all, what does it matter if we:
- Torment the elderly and confused in our care homes by denying them human comfort in their final years of life;
- Stunt our children’s verbal and cognitive development;
- Re-traumatise victims of physical and sexual abuse, the autistic, and many with mental health problems;
- Plunge the millions who are hard of hearing into social isolation;
- Compromise the effectiveness and acceptability of healthcare consultations;
- Poison our citizens by contaminating waterways with chemical additives and micro-plastics?
Did we learn nothing from the Covid debacle?
Given the apparent irrationality and self-destructiveness of it all, one is left to speculate on potential motivations underpinning this insanity. A number of possibilities come to mind:
- As masks are very effective at evoking and perpetuating fear, Big Pharma and its public health allies are collaborating to inflate anxiety about contracting the flu and thereby increase vaccination rates;
- For the more conspiratorially minded: the pandemic industry has received an order from its paymasters to re-run the mass masking exercise – in the same way as the military would test a crucial weapon in its arsenal – so as to check out whether it remains fit-for-purpose as a means of controlling and enslaving the general population to comply with further imminent contractions of our rights and freedoms;
- The forever-strikers at the British Medical Association – who pushed relentlessly to mask the public during Covid – are now insisting on mass muzzling as part of their negotiations with the Government;
- An influential subgroup of healthcare policymakers, aware of the public’s declining satisfaction levels with the NHS, is yearning for a return to those glory days of 2020-21, when a mask symbolised virtuous brave troupers who were worthy of our weekly applause;
- The tyrannical muscle, evident within many infection control personnel, needs flexing again so as to satisfy the intrinsic desire of those personnel to dictate how others should behave.
The last few years have demonstrated that hard evidence (about mask ineffectiveness and harms) is insufficient to deter these blinkered fanatics. Whatever their underlying motivations, one thing is clear: the only way to counter the re-imposition of mask requirements is to refuse to comply.

Masks are a symbol of fear, control and compliance. I refuse to wear one.
I’m exempt from wearing a face-nappy. How do I know? Because years ago I downloaded a jpeg from the government’s website saying I’m exempt. And as we all know, the government is all-knowing and all-wise.
Same here. The coloured labels look a bit faded now, though!
Sorry, but that’s just playing their game
What is Daniel Elkeles paid for coming out with this stuff?
Its so bad that the Doctors still have the time to strike for more money.
What a joke the NHS is
Might need more than one, Mr.Elkeles?
Splendid.
Never again
Like trying to fend off midges with a fishing net. From a bog-standard face-mask package insert, as highlighted by a Sceptic commenter just over a year ago…
“…Not personal protective equipment or a medical device under EU Law.“
As the law at the time only specified a face covering, and not one of those blue supposedly surgical masks as seen in the photo at the top of the page, we had, at least in our local supermarket staff wearing a clear plastic visor, which could only have deflected their breath downwards and to the side as it didn’t seal to the face.
I admit that on occasion I wore a 3M painters mask, this is a rubber affair with filters, the joke being that it only protected me as the outlet was a simple valve. Friends wore motorcycle snoods with various designs on, mainly skeletal in nature. So all complying with the letter of the law if not the spirit.
I didn’t do it then, and I will not do it now.
6. Opportunists in the supermarket trade (with tiny labels that no one reads which says they are junk). That happened a few years ago, after all.
Victims of the Cult of Face Covering are suffering from all the symptoms those enslaved by a cult display. (Google this). They can easily be spotted by the material covering their airways, leaving them only with sufficient breathing ability to survive. It is far easier to recruit a cult victim than cure one and these people need all the help those not afflicted can offer. Starting with Smile Free.
My monies on the flu thing being ramped up simply to put pressure on the doctors planning on striking… and the mask thing is just a symptom. Someone I know attended a very large hospital last week, for 3 different appointments across the campus, and despite all the fear porn signs etc, saw not a single person wearing a mask, out of hundreds. Excellent.
Including staff I should add… so even better
I have a check up for a life-threatening cardiac condition in January.
I’ll cancel the appointment rather than wear a mask.
Write to them, asking if they have any requirement or even recommendation for vistors ( outpatients) to wear masks and if so, for a copy of their Risk Assessment that they are legally required to produce under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regs 1999 S3 (1) (b). They won’t have done and most didn’t under the ever-changing Coronavirus Restrictions in 2020 & 2021. If you are challenged, simply state that the Trust is in criminal breach of MHSAW 1999 by failing to produce a RA under this section and you wouldn’t consider compounding their committing this offence. I used this on The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Trust Gobowen in 2021. The reception desk were obviously aware of my letter and treated me like a VIP, all smiles and politeness and no mention of a mask.
You do better to heed the advice given in the above article, written by ‘Smile Free’.
It’s quite obvious.
Compulsory vaccination is the only sensible answer here. And for those who refuse, death by burning (the only safe way to rid ourselves of all these deadly pathogens.
Bring it on I say.
Fool me once—-Shame on YOU. —–Fool me twice ——Shame on ME.
Fully agree.
Slightly off topic, but I am interested to know if there are studies looking at the impact of increasing surveillance and regulation on the human psyche.
For me it has a negative effect on my wellbeing, but maybe for some it provides an increased feeling of security?
Governments are too scared to punish criminals. They find it easier to punish us all instead, by banning everything, and silencing us all.
Mask theatre..pure and simple
Phone thieves in London will love anything that inhibits facial recognition software.
More Government Kabuki.
A suspicious person might wonder if the minus 26.9% ‘efficacy’ rate of the (at least one) flu injection has something to do with rising levels of flu which conveniently provides the excuse for this farce.
That heading photo reminded me of the Dr Who episode where the sinister children wear gas masks “Are you my mummy?”

Nope. Not doing it ever again.
I didn’t wear one the first time around. Whatever they mandate, I will not comply
