Reform’s “Racist Rhetoric” is Tearing Britain Apart, Says Starmer
Reform UK’s “racist rhetoric” is tearing Britain apart and such talk should have been “dealt with” decades ago, Sir Keir Starmer has said. The Telegraph has more.
In an escalation of his criticism of Nigel Farage’s party, the Prime Minister also suggested that the language used by its politicians should have been rooted out of public life decades ago.
His comments, made during a television interview, come as Reform enjoys a comfortable double-digit poll lead over Labour amid record levels of illegal immigration, along with concerns over legal migration and community cohesion.
Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday, Sir Keir was told by Dr Amir Khan, the programme’s resident GP, that he had “never felt more unsafe” as a brown person and asked what Sir Keir was doing to unite the country.
The Prime Minister replied: “This is so important because I think the political divide now is between what I call patriotic national renewal, which is what this Labour Government is doing, bringing people together – whether it’s partnership working here or across the country, finding those points of unity – or the toxic division of Reform and others on the Right.
“They’re tearing our country apart. Some of the rhetoric we’re hearing – racist rhetoric, divisive rhetoric that frankly I thought we’d dealt with decades ago – is returning to politics, and we have to stand up to racism and division.
“And we have to proudly say, to be British is to be concerned for others, is to be tolerant, is to be diverse, is to be compassionate, and we have to stand up for that.”
In September, Sir Keir branded Reform’s mass deportation plan “racist” after it pledged to deport hundreds of thousands of immigrants who arrived in Britain legally.
Under the proposals, Reform would force non-EU migrants with permanent residency to reapply for visas under stricter criteria, including a higher salary requirement and a better standard of English.
A Reform UK spokesman said: “To the Prime Minister, everyone who talks about immigration and doesn’t want to pay hundreds of billions for foreign nationals to live off the state forever is a racist.
“The British people are fed up with being talked down to. That’s why Keir Starmer is one of the most unpopular prime ministers in modern British history.”
Last month, the Reform faced a fresh race row after Sarah Pochin, its MP for Runcorn and Helsby, provoked a backlash by saying that it drove her mad to see advertisements “full of black people, full of Asian people”.
In a subsequent apology, Ms Pochin said that her comments had been “phrased poorly”. Mr Farage said the comments were “ugly” but resisted calls for her suspension and denied any racist intent.
The Reform leader has previously claimed that he has played a key role in stopping the growth of far-Right parties.
Mr Farage said in June 2024: “I’ve done more to drive the far-Right out of British politics than anybody else alive. I took on the BNP [British National Party] just over a decade ago.
“I said to their voters – if this is a protest vote but you don’t support their racist agenda, don’t vote for them, vote for me. [It] destroyed them.”

Then, at least, we would have the chance of electing a competent alternative. The disaster would be if 2TK resigns, there’s no GE and someone like No Brainer or Mad Ed becomes PM. We would all be doomed, DOOMED, I tell you.
I don’t think there’s a government in waiting just yet.
It looks like the first task will be to remove most if not all of the Blair/Brown legislation, where decisions are outsourced to committees and NGOs. Otherwise, the new government will be as powerless as the Truss government was. The Climate Change Committee and the Supreme Court will get in the way, as will the House of Lords, if the necessary detailed manifesto is not produced BEFORE the general election.
And even then, it won’t be plane sailing.

Foreigners should accept this and either assimilate or leave.

Meanwhile, I understand that over 4000 letters were sent to the Prime Minister, asking him to cancel a concert by the notorious Bob Vylan at the O2, Kentish Town (his constituency) yesterday evening.
