Prince Philip’s Brave Highlanders to be Evicted From Barracks to Make Way for Asylum Seekers
War heroes are being kicked out of their historic home to make room for the Government’s hugely controversial plan to house asylum seekers in MoD barracks. The Mail has the story.
The Queens Own Highlanders Regimental Association, based at Cameron Barracks in Inverness, will be moved from the site as part of the Home Office’s proposal to turn it into a home for 309 single male asylum seekers by the end of the month.
The regiment, of which the late Prince Philip was the Colonel-in-Chief, was formed in 1961 through a merger of the Seaforth Highlanders and The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders.
It served with the British Army until 1994 when it was amalgamated to become The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
The Association supports regimental veterans and their families financially as well as organising social events and reunions. It has an office at Cameron Barracks which will be lost as part of the asylum plan.
Sources said that the Ministry of Defence has informed the veterans’ organisation that they’ll be moved for up to a year until a longer-term solution can be found.
The Mail on Sunday understands that the organisation has also been told to keep quiet by the MoD and not to discuss the relocation.
The revelations have sparked outrage, with the UK Labour Government accused of failing to respect the history of the site and those who have served the country at war. …
The Queens Own Highlanders served in multiple conflicts during its 34 years, including in the Gulf War, Northern Ireland and the Falklands.
The late Prince Philip met with ex-servicemen at Cameron Barracks in 2007, while the Association has held multiple reunions at the site over the years, including the last one in 2022.
The Association said that it would hold its reunion next year in a different location as Cameron Barracks “may not be available”. …
Highland Council last week held a special meeting to discuss the Home Office’s plans, accusing the department of disrespect and a failure to consult on the proposals before announcing it to the public.

Off the bat: housing migrants at tax payers’ expense is an abomination, it doesn’t matter where.
That said, I have to admit this is a very incendiary and provocative presentation of the facts. One can infer from the news item that the place is used once a year for an annual reunion and that’s it. So it’s basically vacant.
It’s all fine, but I just don’t like being manipulated by somewhat skewed, very deliberately provocative news.
Perhaps someone more in the know about Cameron Barracks could comment on the usage of the building at present.
We have lots of abandoned airfields in rural areas which would be far better for housing these people securely whilst we find out who they actually are and properly vet them.
Cameron Barracks, if indeed vacant, should be made available to ex-Service personnel before anyone else – something like a Northern Union Jack Club as exists in London.

Disgusting. Shifting a Regiment out of their home to accommodate utter freeloaders, many of whom will undoubtedly be undesirable to have in the country and few of whom will have anything to offer to society whatsoever.
What’s more is that the married quarters site is directly adjacent to this building, so soldiers’ families will be exposed fully to God knows who.
Look on the bright side – this “government” will just be making more determined enemies out of the Armed Forces.
They need to be shipped to a deserted Scottish island, given tents and basic rations and left to get on with it until Reform get into power and can send them back to whence they came, which would be non-war torn France. They should also be given mobile phones so that they can take videos and upload them to show the harsh reality that they face so as to act as a deterrent for others waiting their turn to hit the Channel crossing. I must give a shout out to these guys from Birmingham who actually went over to France and stopped two boats themselves. It’s very interesting hearing them speak about what’s going on in France and just how highly orchestrated this is, enabled by the French authorities. Big respect to these patriots for doing something meaningful and exposing the corruption and reality that most aren’t aware of;

I thought they would be using empty bases. Moving the military to house the invasion of illegal immigrants, does not have good optics. Senior military commanders should be kicking up a massive fuss.

Why the asylum reference? I doubt any are fleeing persecution, why not save money and ship them directly back to their home country, and if they refuse to reveal that country (asylum seekers yeah right), send them to Rwanda, job done, they do not need processing they need ejecting…..
Immigration Policy is now based on how Globalists want the world to look. They don’t want people to feel British, French or German. They want us all to feel just like good little global citizens easily managed by the technocrats we never voted for or even heard of. Our Culture, History and Identity has to therefore be diluted, and mass immigration is the tool for achieving that.

Minister a) The people want the Muslim migrants we’re shipping in out of hotels. We need to close some down but this could be an opportunity to rile the working class even more and hopefully cause some riots, so we can demonstrate that they have no rights and are irrelevant …. by prosecuting them and locking them up to make an example to the others
So where can we put the migrants which will cause maximum outrage?
Minister b) I know. It’s Remembrance Sunday …. all the peasants will be commemorating WW1 and WW2 ….. what a marvellous opportunity to signal that we hold them in contempt and “the sacrifice” was pointless.
