Humiliation for Police Scotland as it Drops Case Against Women’s Rights Campaigner in Brollygate Row
Police Scotland has been left humiliated after it was forced to drop its case against a women’s rights campaigner for allegedly damaging a trans activist’s umbrella in what’s been dubbed the ‘brollygate’ row. The Scottish Daily Express has the story.
Susan Smith was told she would face charges unless she accepted a police recorded warning for vandalism after a confrontation with infamous trans activist Tom Harlow.
He disrupted a women’s rights protest outside the Scottish Parliament in September by playing loud music in an attempt to drown out speakers. He was asked to turn it down by Ms Smith, with pictures and footage showing him jabbing a rainbow-coloured brolly towards her face.
It is understood that he alleged that she damaged this umbrella, and cops investigated it as a real crime. But following a public outcry, this probe has been dropped and Ms Smith has been vindicated in her refusal to back down.
The For Women Scotland co-founder was supported in her battle by Free Speech Union (FSU), and the decision came just two days after Chief Constable Jo Farrell supported the investigation, and claimed she had no idea when it would end. It leaves Police Scotland with a red face as it withstood weeks of criticism by defending its position.
According to the FSU, cops will take no further action against Ms Smith and have even invited her for a meeting with senior officers to discuss the case and wider issues like women not feeling like they are protected by law enforcement. Complaints were made about their inaction when protests are hijacked by trans activists.
Ms Smith said: “I am relieved that I can now draw a line under this episode and I am incredibly grateful to the Free Speech Union and my lawyer Neil Hay for all their help and support. This has highlighted how difficult and frightening such an action must be for those who are not able to draw on the help of FSU and who cannot hope to have the same level of public, political, and press support I was fortunate enough to receive.
“While I am delighted that Police Scotland have dropped this case, it is concerning that an individual who came with the express intention of disrupting our rally and drowning out our speakers was taken seriously, especially when extreme, credible threats to women are frequently overlooked.
“I can now refocus on the essential work of FWS. We will continue to challenge the reluctance in Government, public bodies, and third sector organisations to obey the law as clarified in our Supreme Court victory in April and ensure that women’s rights are respected and our voices are heard.”

Police Scotland do not want to discuss safety of women. They want to use propaganda to persuade her to come from the meeting and give a phalanx of journos a friendly statement.

He should be arrested for using a pointed weapon which can do a nasty injury. It obviously was not raining so he was only using it as a weapon.
The police throughout the UK, and possibly especially in Skoatland, are effectively utterly useless, woke and/or lazy. They are certainly VERY stupid in many instances, especially in the most senior positions. It is almost criminal, particularly when one takes into account the fact that they are supposed to SERVE US.
