“Barristers win right to go without wigs in court after campaigners branded the hairpieces ‘culturally insensitive’”
Couldn’t the wigs be made in a range of colours.? I’m afraid that if the barristers don’t wear wigs, how are we to identify the real crooks?
Rainbow wigs, surely…
“Zack Polanski will lead a Socialist Super Bloc”
An amusing thought that people would vote for this tosh in large numbers, but then, stranger things have happened*.
*See New York City
At the least election, 80% of those who voted (i.e. more or less everyone who did not vote Reform) voted for some flavour of Big Government Woke Globalist Socialism. Whether they knew or thought that’s what they were getting is another matter, but that’s what it amounts to.
The last election offered two choices – the Uniparty or Reform, loyalties uncertain.
Pretty much, or spoiling your ballot paper. In the last GE I voted for the Alliance for Freedom and Democracy because our local Reform candidate declined to engage with me regarding his views on “covid”, but I have since formed the view that things are so desperate, Reform are worth a go, but I am fully prepared to be disappointed.
Same here. In reality, we have no choice.
See Ireland.
“Hard Left Irish independent Catherine Connolly, who previously accused Israel of behaving like a “terrorist state”, has been confirmed as the new President after claiming a landslide victory, reports the Mail.”
All those immigrant votes are working well in Ireland.
I first read that as Socialist Super Blot.
“Mistaken releases of prisoners double in a year”
..and presumably sackings for gross incompetence have also doubled.?
“Therapists ‘to prescribe having a job’ for depressed and anxious patients”
Can they also prescribe ‘A kick up the arse’, perhaps two before breakfast..?
“Increasingly, the incentive – both at Oxford and other top academic institutions – is to claim incapacity rather than celebrate excellence, to ask for special treatment, not strive for a glittering prize, says Michael Gove in the Mail.”
What did Gove and his chums and his party do about this during their 14 years in power?
They were listening too hard to their own bullsh*t, rather than observing the world outside their arrogant brains. Politicians, innit. The exceptions to this merely prove the rule.
Absolutely FA… but we can add it to the list of hundreds of similar items can’t we…
A scotch egg is a substantial meal.
I know life is full of uncomfortable compromises but how our Gracious Host can stomach working for that bloke even on a freelance basis is beyond me.
Agreed….
It is 2025 isn’t it? Four years after the f***-up? Oh well, forget it in another four years then rinse and repeat.
Pertaining to the above articles about the prison service, I naively assumed that most prison guards would be sympathetic towards these patriot keyboard warriors and non-violent protesters that were wrongfully sent to jail after the Southport child-killings. It would seem this isn’t the case at all. Whether they’re under orders to behave like this or they see fit to treat these ordinary concerned citizens in such a way, I’ve no idea. This is an excerpt illustrating Stuart Burns’ ordeal, who was sent to prison for a few Facebook posts, even though he didn’t plead guilty and even condemned the violent aspects of the riots in his comments. It also describes the total shambles of his trial and how the infamous Judge Temperley conveniently retired shortly after sentencing Stuart; ”Indeed, Stuart’s ordeal did not end with the verdict—far from it. Now came prison. By then, he had already lost his job—the family’s major source of income—a blow that was felt immediately. Judge Temperley appeared to dismiss this as a mitigating factor. His solicitor had also failed to update him on the possibility of an appeal, reinforcing Stuart’s belief that his defence had been poorly handled. He had spent £1,800 on legal… Read more »
It is good to see Lucy Powell’s political antennae are as well tuned as they are. Going soft on immigration is bound to improve Labour’s standing in the polls. Keep up the good work Lucy.
Obviously Lucy is on doublegood bonuses if she can stoke serious unrest.
“after the 2021 census hugely overestimated the country’s transgender population, reports the Telegraph.”
The correct percentage is 0%
There are men or women!
“The fall of Jess Phillips” Starting from a low base. It would help if she would wash and then comb her hair.
Made me chuckle out loud!
Yay!
His words may be “softer” but his actions simply show us that he is a pathological liar; to quote a former SPAD to Starmer
“He’s a hollow man*, who cannot stop lying**.
No empathy. Witness him ignoring Reeves in tears at his side. A human being would have consoled her.
No sense of humour.
No emotions.
No inner life (doesn’t read, do art/music – openly admitted so).
Bristles when challenged.
Hates being laughed at (viz. TV audience at his “Son of a toolmaker” spiel) – which he has not repeated since having been unable to stop saying it previously..
Pathological liar. As confirmed by a former SPAD (Starmer is “a hollow man”).
Refuses to take responsibility for things that happened on his watch..
No soul. Look into his eyes. Nothing there. The eyes are where we see another.
Just a wooden robot, insert SD card from the WEF and boot him up.
He does rather have the look of something from the bodysnatchers doesn’t he…
Tony Bliar is the de facto PM (ID cards, anyone?) with Mandelson his second-in-command. The cabinet are mere window-dressing.
