Protesters Attack Irish Police Outside Migrant Hotel
Irish police were attacked with bricks, glass bottles and fireworks during a violent protest outside a migrant hotel in Dublin following reports that a 10 year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an asylum seeker. The Telegraph has more.
Thousands gathered at the Citywest Hotel in Saggart after reports that a 10 year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an asylum seeker.
Witnesses saw a police van set on fire as protesters waved Irish flags and chanted: “Get them out.”
The crowd attempted to breach a police cordon outside the hotel, with some carrying garden forks and other tools.
One officer sustained a foot injury, and a police helicopter was targeted with lasers.
Some 300 officers were on duty, including mounted units and a dog team. A water cannon was deployed, and at least six people were arrested.
The Irish state police force, the Garda, said officers were subjected to “sustained violence” throughout Tuesday evening.
“This was obviously not a peaceful protest,” Justin Kelly, Dublin’s police commissioner, said.
“The actions this evening can only be described as thuggery. This was a mob intent on violence against Gardaí.”
Police said the demonstration was organised by “disparate groups on social media who stir up hatred and violence and encourage and entice others to get involved”.
It was the second night in a row that the hotel in Saggart, south-west of Dublin, had been targeted by protesters, though Monday night’s demonstration did not turn violent.
Tuesday night’s unrest came hours after a 26 year-old suspect appeared in court charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault, which reportedly took place near the hotel.
The alleged victim was in state care at the time, with Tusla, Ireland’s child and family agency, confirming she had “absconded” during a trip to the city centre and was reported missing.
Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), condemned the “violent disorder” and “vile abuse” directed at police in a statement.
He also said the events surrounding the alleged assault were “extremely serious and very, very grave”.
Speaking in parliament, Mr Martin acknowledged “the concern, anger and worry of many people throughout the country at what [is] alleged to have transpired here”.
“Clearly, there has been failure here in terms of the state’s obligation to protect this child,” he added.

Zero sympathy from me for the police over there because they’ve a terrible reputation for being heavy-handed and using excessive force against peaceful protesters, never mind the ones that get violent. And I think we’re far past the ‘peaceful protest’ stage now anyway. I don’t blame people for kicking off at this point in time, not when kids are targeted by these dirtbag predators, and this one had a deportation order and shouldn’t have even been there; ”‘We have just been attacked by the police themselves.’ GB News Northern Ireland Correspondent Dougie Beattie reports that their media crew has been ‘pepper-sprayed, smashed and knocked to the ground’ by the police at a Dublin protest.” https://x.com/GBNEWS/status/1980731295475839376 ”Myself, and my husband attended the protest in Citywest, Dublin tonight. It would have been perfectly safe except for the fact that as we marched, Gardaí baton charged and pepper sprayed the crowd which included many women and children like my own. Myself and the children moved far back away from the Gardaí to avoid pepper spray. I was on route to our car to leave as a garda van went up in flames right beside us, provoking once again a violent response from an… Read more »
Agree with yo entirely. I find the use of the word “absconded” in reference to a ten year old child in care very odd. To me, absconding is normally used when referring to wanted criminals and suspects. However I could be mistaken.
It’s normal police vernacular. An ‘Absconder from care’ was known as an ‘Abscare’, if I remember rightly from my early days in the Job.
Mostly peaceful, seemed to me.
Governments and police teach people how to protest.
“Peaceful” protest: riot police, get arrested, prosecuted, gaoled, banned, and in any case ignored.
Violent protest: the police will kneel, escort you safely through the streets, ban counter-protests to avoid inciting you, Government will classify you as “victim” and legislate in favour of you to prevent – Islamophobia, racism… whatever.
A GBN reporter had a few problems with the Garda too: https://www.gbnews.com/news/world/dublin-migrant-protests-gb-news-reporter-attacked
Nation that a century ago chucked the British out, and whose governing heirs now welcome foreign invaders in.
MacDonagh and MacBride and Connolly and Pearse will be turning in their graves.
Now beholden to the EU, both as a contributor and a repository for thousands of migrants.
The usual Far Left legacy media manage to avoid any mention of a 10 year old girl being raped by an immigrant scumbag. I wonder how they will cover the unveiling by the judge of the schoolboy who murdered a fellow, white, pupil. You can guess his background.
The Telegraph does not really give any background of the village of Saggart where people have moved to settle down in a nice safe village environment until the government bought the hotel and filled it with Turd World slime.
Of course all the understandable ferocity unleashed by an infuriated public will be written off as “far right thuggery”… There’s nothing “far right” or “thuggish” about any of this, just ordinary folk who have been pushed to breaking point by foreign perverts who target their daughters.
By all accounts it’s the gardai that have been behaving in their usual thuggish manner. Yes, some locals will fight back and pick up things to lob and whatnot, but it’s in response to the very heavy-handed, aggressive tactics of the police. The police aren’t there to maintain the peace or de-escalate the situation at all, they’re there to instigate unrest and trigger a violent reaction. I think they’re complete bastards. Much like the UK police you have to ask: whose side are they even on? Because it’s blatantly the public that are needing protection from these imported ( potential, as they’re unvetted ) scumbag criminals, but they’re acting like it’s the other way round;
”Aggressive gardai have physically attacked and pepper sprayed a peaceful crowd of Irish people.
Locals had gathered outside the facility after an asylum seeker r*ped a 10 year old Irish girl.”

There is no doubt the Irish are damned good at rioting.
They’ve us to t’ank for d’at.
Just in kilarney, queenstown, that part of Ireland, noted lots of eu money poured in for great roads, decent housing, beautiful countryside loaded with sheep and cattle. The crooked politicians in Dublin, are unlike the crooked politicians in LA, Chicago, SF, NY, London.
