Israeli Fan Ban Could Be the Spark that Ignites a Political Powderkeg
The “disgraceful” ban on Israeli fans attending a Europa League match at Aston Villa in Birmingham (Muslim population 30%), issued by the city council on Thursday, could be the spark that ignites a political powderkeg, says Oliver Brown in the Telegraph. Here’s an excerpt.
So now we have it spelt out in black and white: an admission by a British police force that it is effectively unable to protect visiting Jewish football fans on British soil. This is, however you slice it, a shaming moment. Only last weekend, within hours of the Gaza ceasefire coming into effect, huge amounts of police resources were diverted to protecting pro-Palestine marches in the heart of London, attended by tens of thousands. But as for ensuring the safety of a few hundred Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters on the streets of Birmingham? All too much bother.
It is a level of inconsistency that makes your head spin. On learning of the extraordinary move by West Midlands Police to advise the shutting out of Maccabi fans from next month’s Europa League match at Aston Villa, Baroness Fox lamented how she had “sat for hours in the House of Lords debating a new crime and policing bill that creates endless laws to ‘keep our streets safe’ – yet police won’t use the laws we have to keep certain people safe”. And all this on a day when the Prime Minister promised, in the aftermath of the Manchester synagogue atrocity, £10 million in extra security for Jewish amenities. Not for the first time on this subject, there appeared a vast gulf between rhetoric and reality. Reacting to the escalating furore, the Prime Minister criticised the police, saying an outright ban targeting Maccabi was the “wrong decision”.
This is the wrong decision.
We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets.
The role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation.https://t.co/8aBeqE4qbA
The priority, you might think, should be to crack down on the virulent antisemitism that has rendered it dangerous for Israelis to attend matches in this country. Sadly, police have chosen a cruder response, simply banning Maccabi followers from coming at all. The explanation was that their action was based on “previous incidents”: none more serious than last year’s mayhem around Maccabi’s visit to Ajax, at which there were 62 arrests and five people sent to hospital. While some Maccabi fans chanted anti-Arab slogans and tore Palestinian flags down from buildings, Dutch authorities also described how antisemitic rioters had “actively sought out Israeli supporters to attack”.
Where is the immediate provocation this time? Look no further than a video released last week by Birmingham-based cleric Asrar Rashid, handing down an “Islamic ruling” that “we will not show mercy to Maccabi Tel Aviv fans travelling for the Aston Villa match”.
British Islamic Scholar Asrar Rashid: We Will Not Show Mercy to Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans Traveling to Birmingham for the Aston Villa F.C. Match; If You Make a Deal with an IDF Soldier, Take His Money If You Win, But Do Not Pay Him If You Lose – That’s the Islamic Ruling… pic.twitter.com/KQU0VKkfVv
How is this not tantamount to incitement? If there are urgent public safety concerns around this fixture, then they have been triggered by the violent threats of Rashid and by a petition, co-signed by Jeremy Corbyn and Birmingham MP Ayoub Khan, claiming that the match could “not be tolerated as business as usual” because of the “ongoing genocide in Gaza”.
I welcome the news that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be permitted to watch the match at Aston Villa! Well done to all those that signed our petition! pic.twitter.com/cRDtdDc7ad
Khan was cock-a-hoop as the police caved in to such agitating, arguing that the reaction was “welcome”. He even had the gall to play the peacemaker, declaring: “Now is the time to ease tensions, set aside political differences, and focus on the football once more.” Truly, it is quite the flex to call for calm when you have just advocated banning all opposition supporters on the pretext that you do not much care for their country of origin. No wonder Khan was deluged with outraged questions about how his Jewish constituents would feel. Would he adopt such a brazenly discriminatory posture if there were Muslim fans involved?
If the city of Birmingham cannot guarantee safety for this one match, then you question its credentials to host future international events. Here you have an open concession by the police that they cannot control Villa’s clash with Maccabi, thus opening the door to potential lawbreakers. It is difficult to imagine how this does anything but give succour to men like Rashid, boasting about meting out merciless treatment to anybody in Maccabi colours.
This is a national disgrace.
How have things come to this?
Starmer pledged that Jews are welcome and safe in Britain. That he stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community and will use the full force of his government to prove it.
You sense this is the spark that will ignite a political powderkeg. “Horrendous,” said Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader. “A national disgrace.” It is a struggle to characterise it as anything else: after all, a section of Britain’s second largest city has just been designated essentially as a no-go area for visiting Jews.

If Kemi doesn’t know how it’s come to this, should she be ‘leading’ the Conservative Party? There are evidently some people the British state had better please.
We’ve been on this track, certainly since Blair, though I don’t rule out Major’s contribution.
And then we’ve had the universities, the BBC, the QUANGOs, the civil service and, of course, the Labour Party, the Lib Dems and the Greens doing the WEF’s work for them.
Liz Truss has said the problem should have been recognised by Cameron, and been dealt with by repealing all of the Blair/Brown legislation. It outsourced the decision making, so harming the Crown in Parliament. Though she does so with the acknowledgement that it couldn’t be done: the country might have followed but, with the universities, the BBC, the QUANGOs, the civil service and, of course, the Labour Party, the Lib Dems and the Greens still pushing globalism, it was not to be. And she learnt that before anyone else.

As Dr North so aptly puts it, now we have Scum MPs like Ayoub Khan this should be no great surprise. I fully support his view that no first generation immigrants should hold any positions of power in our country but then it turns out that the new head of the Electoral Commission is an Indian, born and bred. He was removed from the Foreign Office for making a horlicks of the Chagos Islands and the government’s ‘gifting’ of them to India’s friend Mauritius.
No first, second or third generation immigrant should be allowed any position of power. And all backgrounds and behaviours should be investigated carefully even then. If you are behaving like your ancestors from the old country, and have not become completely British (no foreign religion, no foreign clothing styles, no foreign language other than for work purposes) no old homeland culture or traditions) then you must not be allowed a position in government or any public organisations or the military. This is the only way to save Britain and restore it to its former state. Anything else is a waste of time and will keep us on the path of collapse.
The message from the authorities is loud and clear. If you are strong enough and you can make a credible enough threat of violence that we as the authorities can’t match, then we will bow down to you.
On the other hand, this can be quite illuminating. It shatters an illusion, the illusion that we live in a world of law and order. We don’t. As I’ve stated many times, we live in a state of anarchy, in which we have a powerful state exercises as much arbitrary power as it can get away with.
It is good to understand this, because it signals a very clear path to how things can be accomplished. The message to those who want to have a predominantly white Britain with less immigration is clear. The muslims of Birmingham have shown the way.
Starmer gave the terrorists what they wanted when he recognised a Palestinian state on our behalf. Terrorism and threats of violence are clearly effective ways of transacting with this pusillanimous government.
They have indeed. And I wonder if the thickos in communist Labour, socialist Toeies, Marxist Lib Dumbs and hyper commie greens, realise this yet? The British people are quickly understanding that threats seem to work.
I know Birmingham’s a big place but is the entire city basically a ‘no-go zone’ for Jews? Are there any Jewish communities within the city? It’s when you know that a visibly Muslim person walking down a street within a Jewish community doesn’t have to fear being lynched, but a visibly Jewish person walking in a Muslim neighbourhood in contrast….Anyway, I dearly wish they weren’t in positions of power but they are, and therein lies the problem; ”Muslims should never have been allowed to be in parliament. They should not hold any decision making public office, and definitely should never be part of my security or anti-terrorism/anti-extremism public departments. This is the result otherwise. I hope in time more and more of you can see this reality and stop viewing my stance on this as extreme. It is not. Break away from your liberal programming. You are being gaslit into submission. A soft conquest by turning your own system against you.” https://x.com/theworldofmomus/status/1978881724835660153 Well said that man; ”I’m going to that fucking Villa match with a big Star of David and if the police stop me for my safety rather than deal with the threat of Islamists then this country is… Read more »
The thing is, they don’t even have to always be in positions of power, just have Islam bitches like this eating out the palm of their hands. Remember this guy from the Southport protests? If you listen to him talk back then you can tell who’s pulling his strings, with repeated references ( and obvious deference ) to ”community elders” and insertion of his stupid little Arabic phrases, then he has the audacity to maintain they uphold ”one-tier policing”. And if you remember, it was this lot that insisted the Muslim community would police themselves, so is it any wonder he can’t promise to keep visiting fans safe? Muslims were going round in packs kicking the shit out of any white people that crossed their path;
“Salaam alaikum.” West Midlands Police Chief Constable Craig Guildford says: “We don’t tolerate intimidation, racism or discrimination.” Excludes “zionists” — as community leaders like extremist Asrar Rashid with Ayoub Khan MP openly say it’s fine to “hate zionists.”

There are two sides to this. Maccabi Tel Aviv have a contingent of fans that are notorious for anti-Arab and anti-Palestine chants and their support for violent action. They aren’t to be welcomed, but I’m sure West Midlands police are more than capable of containing and arresting law-breakers among them. However calls to ban all supporters comes from the usual Islamist suspects. For the likes of Khan and Corbyn another excuse to advance their toxic anti-Semitic agendas and whip up Islamist hatred (fully in line with their “scriptures”) and that of their idiotic fellow-travellers. There was something of a riot in Amsterdam when Maccabi played Ajax recently. Clashes and trouble perpetrated by both Muslim-inspired anti-Israel mobs and extreme factions among Maccabi supporters. These are lessons that West Midlands police should learn from and put into practice (particularly as Villa Park is set to host European Championship matches – how ever might they cope?). It is high time that this country showed that violence and intimidation of a minority community is not tolerated – and that law-abiding citizens of any foreign state are free to come, go, and enjoy participation in public events. Talking of Ajax kind of reminds me of… Read more »
This here is bloody rich. ”Terrorists”? This MP’s in Batley; ”Thank you all who put the safety of Aston Villa fans, Birmingham residents and the British public above the zionist and political pressure to let Israeli hooligans and terrorists run riot in our country.” Iqbal Mohammed MP Regarding the ”hooligan” accusation ( which would only concern a small minority, anyway ) I’m not thinking any fans of any club are all angels , and surely the onus is on the opposition to not get triggered by stupid chants, but what happened in Amsterdam was highly organized and premeditated, with Whatsapp groups being used to communicate and Uber drivers taking part in the ”Jew hunt”; ”Reminder: the violence in Amsterdam was not a reaction to Maccabi fans chanting idiotic things. I’d be very surprised if anyone in Amsterdam understands football chants in Hebrew. Court transcripts showed that the “Jew hunt”, as the perpetrators called it, was organised days in advance of the game. It was planned in a WhatsApp group that had over 900 members, that was infiltrated by police, but they failed to act. Antisemitic language was rife in the group. If it’s true that some Maccabi fans are notorious for anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian chants so what, it’s freedom of speech and whatever they chant can’t be anywhere near as bad as the vile anti-Semitic chants that can be heard on every virtue signalling rally. In the highly unlikely a tiny minority of Maccabi fans would start clashes when they would be outnumbered 50-1 by Muslims goons and their woke compatriots the police should arrest them.
Here is an example. Yeah, the words are pretty unsavoury ( when have football chants ever been ‘PC’, though? ) but they’re not directed at Muslims. Hebrew speakers in the comments are saying they sing this when Maccabi play rival Israeli teams. It’s all about trying to piss off the opponents and get a rise out of them, I guess. The audio has been recorded over the footage; https://x.com/TheHarrisSultan/status/1979096494960709696 ”I speak fluent hebrew, even if this song is real it is directed at a rival football israeli(!!!!) team. So while in bad taste. This is an internal jewish football bullshit thing.. and nobody rapes girls from the opposite football team. And to make it extra clear : somebody cut the video just as they are about to shout the rival israeli team name…” ”The song is real, the audio is imposed on the video so it’s fake, the song is used as a hate song for another team in Israel as hateful rivalry songs, disgusting, indefenseable, but in this space being used to demonize, it’s a dynamic you cannot understand without foreknowledge.” There seems to be a choice of who they could be referring to, though maybe they sing this… Read more »
Agree, it’s pretty unsavoury but so are some chants at Premier League games. When Man Utd visit Liverpool fans have been known to sing
The mighty Man Utd tried to fly a plane in the 1950’s Munich air crash
How many lived and how many died in the 1950’s Munich air crash?
8 of them died so they held a five a side in the 1950’s air crash
Bawdy humour is to be expected at football matches and 99.99% of opposition fans don’t get upset, they give as good as they get. If any snowflakes don’t like a bit of fun they can drown it out with calming whale songs on their headphones then go and cry into their half time chai tea.
At Chelsea we had the Celery Song. Somewhat bawdy and basically good humoured. Did wonders for celery sales in West London. To be fair there were lots of other less savoury songs and chants.
I’ve never been to a match because I don’t like football, but I did work in bars for a few years in Newcastle, many moons ago. So when NUFC played home against rivals, Sunderland, I just remember ( to the tune of Daydream Believer );
🎵”Cheer up Peter Reid. Oh what can it mean to a…fat Mackhem bastard with a…shit football tee-ee-ee-eeam!”😁
Yeah, bit tame by Maccabi standards, but it stuck in my head.
It’s not just football fans. When England rugby fans sing “swing low sweet chariot” Welsh fans reply with “you can stick your fucking chariot up your fucking arse”.
Australian cricket fans have been condemned by the woke mob for chanting “where’s your visa?” at Indian fans and players. England cricket fans have been criticised for chanting “Rolf Harris, he’s one of your own” during an ashes test and “cry on the telly, we saw you cry on the telly” directed at one of the Australian players. Something has gone seriously wrong with a minority of people when they complain about this sort of thing.
🤣 I think they’re daft and comical more than spiteful most of the time. Just two teams taking the piss out of eachother, is what it amounts to. I’ve no idea how these things start then catch on. Mind you, I’ve often wondered how Mexican waves begin…🤔
The question is, where do they draw a line? I mean, there’s lots of incompatibilities between Islam and the Western culture and, so far, in the name of “keeping people safe” or the so called tolerance, the authorities always stood by their side. Each of these victories will only give them more confidence, so what if tomorrow they petition to ban dogs, or Christmas markets…? I can only hope Pride parades come first, and see how authorities will deal with the consequences of their own passiveness.
The Conservatives were largely responsible for the build up to this by permitting the pro-Palestine protests in the first place immediately after the atrocity of 7th October 2023. EVERY damn week. I’m horrified at how this powerful lobby has taken over the agenda and is openly flaunting its anti-semitic stance. Words fail me. Farage warned of this decline into secretarian politics, and here we have it.
‘ “A national disgrace.” ‘. Everything about our nation is a disgrace these days, be it pandering to islamists, two tier policing and judiciary, authoritarian power grabs by the government, levels of taxation while taxpayer money is squandered on importing and housing illegal economic migrants, net zero lunacy from spittle flecked Milliband, DEI programs in the public sector, and payments to disgraced cabinet ministers. It will not end well.
If the police can bus in counter demonstrators in Epping they can ask Maccabi fans to tell them which hotel they’re staying in and bus them to the match and back to their hotel afterwards.
Can’t keep them safe actually means can’t be bothered, or don’t want to keep them safe.
I think what this decision demonstrates, especially in view of the above video I shared of the WMP Chief Constable and how he talks, is that it’s not the police that wear the trousers and have the power in that city, it’s the Muslims that call the shots. This is just a show of strength from the Muslim community, and the police are their little bitches who just do as they’re told.
After what happened in Amsterdam last year, Ajax fans used WhatsApp messages to plan their attack on Maccabi fans, I’m not convinced if it’s Muslims pulling the strings or the left wing goons that share their hatred of Jews.

The government needs to investigate which Muslim organisations Ashar Rashid has links to, is on the board of directors etc. and which, if any mosques he preaches at and ensure they’re that at a minimum they’re all stripped of their charitable status and preferably closed down.
The Country is now run by Muslims – either get used to it or do something about it.

In the interests of “fairness” and safety UEFA or the FA should insist the game goes ahead behind closed doors.
This Israeli football clubs’ fans are notorious for violence and deserve to be banned for that alone.
Just because they are Jewish does not exempt them.
Football chants in Hebrew translated by Gilad Atzmon the Israeli musician and writer.
“This is footage of the Israeli football fans on their way to the Amsterdam stadium. They are shouting en mass:
“We’ll travel
We’ll win
And we’ll fu-k the Arabs”
I am, of course, against all forms of violence but nothing happens in a vacuum…” https://t.me/giladatzmon/1537
The Israeli fans were also videoed tearing down Palestinian flags in Amsterdam.
FIFA banned Russian clubs, but no-one so far has the guts to ban Israeli clubs from tournaments.
Banning them from the Aston Villa game is the right decision.

This is already a non-crime hate incident.
If you remember, Boris Johnson redefined ‘shoulder to shoulder’.
A succinct description of the UK in 2025!
No doubt a decision made BY muslims FOR muslims.
“this is the spark that will ignite a political powderkeg”
That is clearly the intention.
The Country is now run by Muslims – either get used to it or do something about it.
The plod in Birmingham told the islamists to at least leave their weapons in the mosque before they went on a rampage.
Bedenoch is a hypocrite: Tory governments allowed Muhammadanism to spread and did not stop immigration from Muhammadan countries. They also did nothing to crush islamism. They did nothing to enforce integration. They ejected no Imams. Nothing.
And Keni Abulefi whatever is an anchor baby. She is not of us and will never understand us.
Natives first, last and always.
Remigration, repatriation and deportation is the only answer or civil war lies in wait for us.
I am, of course, against all forms of violence but nothing happens in a vacuum…”

The Israeli fans were also videoed tearing down Palestinian flags in Amsterdam.
FIFA banned Russian clubs, but no-one so far has the guts to ban Israeli clubs from tournaments.

Banning them from the Aston Villa game is the right decision.
