£70 Million Spent Every Year for ‘Diversity Officers’ in NHS and Police

Britain’s public sector is blowing a whopping £70 million a year on ‘woke’ diversity officers while services crumble. The Mail on Sunday has the story.

An audit of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) spending across the NHS, the police and councils has laid bare the extraordinary amount of taxpayer cash being spent on the controversial roles. …

Our shocking audit of the public sector’s diversity gravy train found:

  • The NHS spends £40 million on EDI jobs each year, despite millions of patients languishing on spiralling waiting lists
  • Health bosses earmarked £1.8 million for staff events, including talks entitled ‘Embracing Asexuality’ and ‘International Pronouns Day’
  • Recent NHS jobs have included a pro rata £122,000 diversity role, enough to pay for up to three new junior doctors
  • One police force spent £1.2 million on diversity roles and related training despite its chief constable recently complaining about budgets
  • The successful candidate for head of diversity at Newham Council in London – which had a salary of up to £71,412 – describes her interests as “black women’s issues, the politics of beauty and desirability and the intersection of race, gender and fatphobia”
  •  The same council has just imposed a 9% rise in council tax, promising the money would be used “protecting essential services, supporting the most vulnerable and delivering real improvements to residents’ lives”
  • The year before it went bankrupt, Labour-run Birmingham City Council hired an “Assistant Director Community Services and Equality, Diversity And Inclusion” on over £100,000 …

The salaries for diversity roles tend to far outstrip those of vital front-line workers.

NHS England recently advertised a pro rata £122,470 role for Associate Dean with responsibility for equality, diversity and inclusion role in the South-West.

The pay packet is equivalent to the entry-level pay of up to three NHS doctors.

A recent advert for Head of EDI at Gloucestershire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which pays up to £68,525 a year, required “a broad and deep understanding of barriers to change, prejudices and unconscious bias”.

And an available position for EDI Officer at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will pay the successful applicant up to £46,580 per year “to ensure that the EDI agenda is part of daily functions and activities”.

The vast spending on these roles comes despite the NHS being ordered to stop recruiting for EDI jobs in 2023 by then Health Secretary Steve Barclay, who complained his edict was ignored by NHS bureaucrats.

Separate figures revealed by the Mail this year found that the NHS budgeted for trusts to spend more than £1.8 million on “staff networks”, usually linked to race, sexuality, gender, disability or religion, between 2022 and 2024. …

Police forces spent £6 million on diversity jobs in 2023–24. The number of these jobs also jumped by over a third from 147 in 2021–22 to 197 in 2023–24.

Roles available during the period included a ‘Head of Equality and Human Rights’ at Leicestershire Police, which pays up to £77,751, and a ‘Positive Action Officer’ at Derbyshire Constabulary, which pays up to almost £40,000.

Diversity means Conformity, Include means Exclude, Equity means Iniquity.

A friend aged 60 is having chemo at the local hospital. She was approached by a strange woman who asked her if she would sign the DNR form. She replied ‘ i’m only 60 and having treatment’, no. Then a young man came in and asked her again, she said no.
Later, when she enquired, the form had been ticked as ‘accepted..This needs investigating.

In my opinion the government should not be able to fund anything that selects a certain group in society. That is just vote buying and sows division. There job is to fund schools, hospitals, police etc that should serve everyone in society equally.

The NHS model needs to be taken apart, instead it should be subject to open market privatisation, we the tax payer should be taxed less, such that an insurance model can be established and the customer can choose who, what and where their treatment is to be.
As long as its owned by the Government it will fail and be profligate because they know that they will never be held accountable, never be expected to perform, there will never be sackings, and their pensions will always be protected.

If Reform gets into power, will they be able to shut down the Blob which is a law unto itself? Like Sharia, the Blob is a fungus like dry rot spreading into the timbers of our national house. Governments cannot control it. Cameron sacked Gove when he was trying hard to push it back. We are becoming ungovernable against the various centres of power dictating to us what to think and how to behave, and how to teach our children who are being brainwashed daily.
