Will the Green Tory Blob Allow Kemi to Cancel Net Zero?
Kemi Badenoch has now confirmed that she will scrap the Climate Change Act along with its Net Zero targets.
But will her MPs allow her to do it?
Forty-nine of them are members of the Conservative Environment Network (CEN), along with a bunch of Tory peers:
The CEN paints itself in terms of caring for the environment, conserving the countryside and so on. But its funders give the game away:

The European Climate Foundation and the other Green Blob funders are not handing money over to CEN to campaign for nature reserves. The ECF has one solitary purpose:

And this is what the ECF are paying for:

It could not be clearer – CEN want zero emissions by mid-century.
Sam Hall, who is Director of CEN and a leading light in the Conservative green movement for years, has yet to respond to Badenoch’s announcement. But he did write a piece for CapX this week, criticising Ed Miliband’s blindly ideological approach. Notably, however, although Hall opposed the 2030 Clean Power target, it was clear he was still committed to the 2050 target.
Each and every one of those 49 MPs should be challenged whether they support Kemi Badenoch’s cancellation of Net Zero or not. And if they do support it, will they now tender their resignation from CEN, which is now firmly opposed to their leader’s stated policy?
Could I therefore enlist the help of readers and ask: if anybody has one of these MPs in their constituency, could they write to them with these questions?
It would be good to expose them once and for all.

Why bother. The Tories are finished and experience shows we cannot believe a word they say, especially when looking for votes.
She still believes in all the Climate claptrap, she just wants to try and win back some enlightened (who see it for what is is) Tory voters from Reform
We have to accept that some (maybe all) of these people actually believe the narrative, and we have to question if people so naïve deserve to be in any position of power!
Are there really no enquiring minds in Labour, LD or Green party? Or is the whip really that powerful?
There are no enquiring minds in our political classes. We have elected low class intellects. Chavs like Rayner are in government. We have fallen.
I was reading a newspaper article she wrote on this new policy and got as far as the foot-shooting statement ‘climate change is real’, before quickly turning to the next page.
Exactly, it’s a moot point. The voters aren’t going to give her a chance to do anything about anything.
Net Zero is about money and you are not going to part those who make money from the scam.
Kemi Badenoch will never be prime minister because the Conservative Party is dead in the water. The Tories were in power for fourteen years and failed us on all the central issues of our time – free speech, the Great Replacement, and the totalitarianism of Net Zero. We don’t want them back.
“failed us on all the central issues of our time”
+ “Covid”
Yes funny how the Rona fascism always get buried. As if the medical Nazism over a fake bat-anus ‘virus’ never occurred.
We’ve not forgotten.
Good point. If I could edit my comment I’d put in a reference to the Covid scam.
Kemi is now pinching Reform policy on the Net Zero scam and migration while claiming to be more experienced at government. She says any MP not agreeing will be barred from standing. No doubt they will have a sudden Damascene conversion. Kemi has the advantage of not being called racist by the inverted racists in Labour, who believe that only white folks can be guilty.
Oh surely she has already been called an Uncle Tom, and if not already then will be soon.
Misgendering?
I am sure it’s fine to misgender people if they are “Far Right”.
Auntie Tomasina?
Very surprised to see Desmond Swayne there in particular, and also Esther McVey. Both were fairly sound during covid.
I guess it’s easy to join these things.
I expect Swayne will post something in his blog on this – curious to see what he says. He has a curious range of views DS Blog
It’s all too late. The Conservatives should have realised what a bad idea Net Zero was when they were in a position to do something about it. It’s doubtful they’ll find themselves in that position after the next General Election.
Not sure which is worse –
They did realise but couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything about it
They didn’t realise.
There were knowledgeable people disagreeing with the reports about the Climate Change Emergency and the NET Zero policies, and they were willing to put forward their case. Yet the BBC and other Legacy Media barred them from the airwaves.
I do find it incredible that no-one in the Conservative Party (or the Labour Party, though not the Lib Dems 🙂 ) was able to persuade their leadership to give any attention to this important and costly misdirection of public funds. It only required knowledge and understanding in Physics to A’ level standard to realise something was amiss when explained to them. And, with the addition of A’ level Chemistry, most of the falsehoods would have been revealed. And yet, within Westminster and Whitehall, there was no-one with the right combination of skills to keep the country from being a laughing stock. It is a shocking state of affairs.
Incidentally, Ed Miliband gained a good mark in his A’ level Physics before leaving school.
Follow the money. How is this spent? Does it line their pockets?
MPs should have no funding beyond their salaries.
Given the seriousness of their role, MP salaries are rather low (middle to upper management levels) which doesn’t help attract the brightest and best. So we have functionaries who do it for the wrong reasons and are perhaps more susceptible to outside influences.
Will the Green Tory Blob Allow Kemi to Cancel Net Zero?
No
I’ve been saying this for months. How can a party still taking money from the green billionaires with so many MPs, presumably honour bound (I say that in the loosest possible terms), to represent the thoughts of their sponsors, give up on net zero. If this lot support their leader but continue to belong to CEN, then they confirm themselves as the hypocrites we have always suspected
Of course they won’t.
THEY are why no-one believes her.
Great idea.
Sadly it is too late, simply the threat of its reintroduction has the same impact as the Act being in force. Nobody is going to build a new proper power station, gas boiler, or petrol/diesel vehicle. There would be a Green Zombie Apocalypse.
The best thing may be to put back the date, let the grandchildren deal with it.
It’s a shame my MP is not on this list. At least he would stand for something, even if it was something I don’t agree with.
If my MP was on the list I would certainly write to them, even though I don’t think they will get back into government.
Thank God he isn’t – he’s one of the good Tories, which makes me conflicted because I was voting Reform before our constituency boundary changed and the previous useless tup retired.
I remain cynical but not THAT cynical.
