Muslim Who Attacked Koran Burner Hamit Coskun With Knife Spared Jail as Judge Says He “Lost His Temper”
The Muslim man who attacked Koran-burning protester Hamit Coskun in London with a knife has been spared jail after the judge said he “lost his temper”. The Telegraph has more.
Hamit Coskun, 51, shouted “f— Islam” and “Islam is religion of terrorism” as he held a flaming Islamic text aloft during a protest in Knightsbridge in February.
Moussa Kadri, 59, from Kensington, emerged from a residential building and told the protester “I’m going to kill you”, before slashing at him with a bread knife, prosecutors said.
He later told police he was protecting his religion, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Judge Adam Hiddleston handed Kadri a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months on Tuesday.
He must carry out 150 hours of work, 10 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £150 in court costs.
The judge said that the way Kadri lost his temper was “disgraceful”, adding: “Use of blades is a curse on our community.”
Kadri, 59, had pleaded guilty to assault and having a bladed article in a public place.
Coskun, 51, from Derby, was convicted in June of a racially aggravated public order offence after he was filmed burning the book in Rutland Gardens, Knightsbridge.
A bystander filmed Coskun holding the burning book before being attacked by Kadri.
Coskun tried to fend off the blows using the Koran, while Kadri repeatedly yelled “this is my religion”.
Kadri chased Coskun, who stumbled forward and fell to the ground, where the defendant then spat at and kicked him, the court heard.
Kadri said: “Burning the Koran? It’s my religion, you don’t burn the Koran.”
Oliver Mosley, prosecuting, said: “There were several slashes with the blade towards the complainant.
“There were several kicks, and at least one was seen making contact. There were also two spits.
“A van driver got involved, and called Mr Kadri a bully. A passing cyclist also gets involved.”

The Free Speech Union, which is supporting Hamit, said the lenient sentence for a vicious knife attack “will do nothing to dispel the suspicion that Britain has a two-tier criminal justice system”.
BREAKING: Moussa Kadri, the knife-wielding Muslim who repeatedly assaulted Hamit Koskun as he burned the Quran outside the Turkish Consulate, has been spared jail.
Despite pleading guilty to assault and being in possession of a ‘bladed article’, Kadri was handed a suspended sentence of just 20 weeks. No jail time. The judge said he had “lost his temper”.
Hamit, meanwhile, is living in hiding, having been warned by the police that there are several credible threats to his life.
This sentence will do nothing to dispel the suspicion that Britain has a two-tier criminal justice system. Had a knife-wielding white male pleaded guilty to attacking a Muslim for breaching a Christian blasphemy code, you can bet your bottom dollar he would have gone to prison.

What about a young mum who lost her temper after seeing the most grotesque savage act of stabbing toddlers to death, and made a nasty tweet before deleting it. She admitted it was done in anger.
This bloke pulls a knife and tries to stab some bloke to death and is let off because ‘he was angry’? Never mind it is a serious offence to be carrying a knife in a public place in the first instance.
These judges must sit around with their mates, laughing like drains at the frivolous and nonsensical decisions they hand down.
For the rest of us, we feel not just let down, but genuinely unsafe on our streets.

Why was Kadri not charged with attempted murder or GBH, and with the ‘religiously aggravated’ addition for sentencing? If anything was openly religiously aggravated it was this attack, with a large blade which could have cut the victim’s throat. The CPS failed to press a full charge at Kadri. And the judge’s sentence was derisory – while Hamit has been convicted for blasphemy hurting no one physically. Let’s not neglect the possible role of intimidation in achieving lenient sentences for knife-wielding muslims, slashing at the necks of enemies of Allah, seeking to behead them, as their holy book enjoins them to do. Nazi thugs in 1930s Germany often received lenient sentences because the judges were afraid of a knock on the door in the night. The judge in this case may have the fate of MP David Amess in mind, and who could blame the judge if he did?
This is one of the many problems with Islam. It is a book-worshipping religion, as opposed to the Judao-Christian traditions, which worship the truth behind the scriptures. Muslims may burn as many Bibles on the streets as they wish and the Christian / Jewish reaction to this would be “your loss”.
But it is literally codified in the Koran that one must act violently towards any infidels / blasphemes / Jews / homosexuals / apostates, etc, in this supposed “religion of peace”.
This means that the other truly peaceful religions are the lowest hanging fruit and an easy target for the judiciary, whereas the judicial system in this country is afraid to rule too harshly against any Muslim, and with an increasing Muslim contingent of the population it has somehow become justified to introduce “blasphemy” laws (Islamophobia), but not blasphemy laws for any other religion.
It should be normal practice now to have an oversight panel of all sentences that do not appear to be imposing the correct justice. This judge should be subjected to the enquiry, named, sanctioned, and in extreme cases of poor or non-compliant sentencing, sacked. Justice must be done and must be seen to be done.
