Should We Be Worried About Contrails?
Geoengineering in the form of modifying weather happens. It can save decimation of farmer livelihoods by mitigating droughts, and it can risk the global food supply by reducing crop growth. Like nuclear fission, it’s useful in the hands of sane people working with the knowledge and assent of the wider community, or it has the potential to destroy much of what humankind has built if left in the hands of psychopaths. If we can approach it in a calm and rational manner, we may yet stop the psychopaths.
During the Second World War, bomber crews were said to hate the contrails their planes produced, providing white fingers across the sky that pointed enemy fighters directly to them. These have seemingly exploded across our skies as commercial air travel has multiplied, but like boiling frogs, surprisingly few really noticed until others pointed out the heat. Living in Geneva, Switzerland during the week-long grounding of aircraft due to the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland in 2010, we had clear spring skies for the first time. Not a trail, not a wisp of residual cloud. Normal, it turned out, was not natural.
Condensation trails, or contrails, are clouds formed from condensation and from the water and particles that are emitted from aircraft engine exhausts. Fine particles released in the right conditions form a nidus on which droplets can form in humid, cold air. Jet engines also emit water as a combustion product. The very low pressure on the upper wing surface, the reason airplanes stay up in the air, also allows water vapor to precipitate. This is well documented, almost as old as high-flying aircraft, and annoying when you want to photograph a good sunset in much of Europe or North America.
Contrails can contribute to cirrus cloud formation, while aircraft changing altitude can also create some really otherworldly holes in cloud layers, such as on airport approaches. Clouds come and go naturally, from the ground to the upper atmosphere, if the conditions are right. Aircraft just help the process. And as clouds have sharp edges (when viewed from a distance), contrails can seem to turn on and off for the same reason (temperature and humidity at various altitudes).
There is a school of thought that streaks across the sky, or most of them, only began to appear recently and are the result of nefarious intent – geoengineering. The theory is that a whole hidden industry exists to make chemicals, transport them to airports, install them on commercial (i.e., passenger) aircraft or place in fuel, and then release at certain times or in certain regions. This, performed at scale, would require thousands of willing people, who all remain silent on the issue. This is possible, but people talk, including pilots, fuellers, manufacturing workers, truck drivers and airport security guards, and is a little hard to imagine at scale. Part of an air force may follow some stupid government agenda, and perhaps does. But that is a tiny minority of flights.
However, airborne geoengineering does happen. It has for nearly a century, particularly with intent to provide rain during droughts or more routinely in arid inhabited regions. In Australia and the United States, for instance, government agencies have for many decades sprayed compounds such as silver iodide from an aircraft to precipitate water vapour and cause rain during droughts. The hope is to save cattle farmers from ruin or augment a city’s failing water supply. These are not bad things, while mass cattle death and bankruptcy often are.
Geoengineering can also be unbelievably stupid. The British Government is planning to fund high altitude geoengineering to block sunlight. This is a pet project of some very rich people who consider themselves geniuses and is a real thing – I have directly heard the discussions on similar projects from people who can pay for them. It is based on the interesting conviction that while all previous episodes of global warming were due to some natural phenomena, the current one is solely due to the work of man, and that somehow dimming sunlight by setting up a reflective layer in the upper atmosphere is therefore a good thing (not interfering with nature but saving it, supposedly).
There is irony here. We now have nine billion people on Earth, and have defied all previous predictions of Malthusian catastrophe and starvation partly because vegetation (i.e., our crops) grow faster and use water more efficiently than they did 50 or 100 years ago. One reason for this is higher atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). Plants need mainly CO2, sunlight and water to grow. Whether CO2 is the main cause of post-industrial global warming is irrelevant here. It likely plays a role, but anthropogenic emissions do not explain past warming periods. CO2 has doubled from previously very low levels but it was much lower in the Middle Ages when the Norse grew crops in Greenland.
So, whether or not sun-blocking will reduce global temperatures, it will certainly reduce sunlight and plant growth. This will reduce harvests, both in yield and in some places in frequency. Mass starvation will be much more likely – all apparently for the greater good. It may even be better for investors in failing fake meat companies and other factory foods, which may explain some interest in sun-dimming – a clever commercial approach but likely to be fairly widely fatal. While the British Government is embracing this, it is almost certainly happening already at least experimentally. There are no rules, just stupidity.
For those who support geoengineering, especially of the particularly stupid sun-dimming type, sidelining opposition by letting them appear foolish and readily ‘debunked’ is a good tactic. Claims that every contrail and unusual cloud formation suggests nefarious intent will help the cause. Clouds do come in the weirdest shapes and even colours. Nature is amazing, even if psychopathic rich people who wish to control it are not.
We should stop idiots from promoting sun-blocking and putting the global population’s food security at risk. We should consider carefully the cloud seeding that keeps many farmers in business, quite a different issue where intervention is very short-term and local. We should stop flying if we really want to eliminate contrails (they can be as ugly as windfarms) and want to reduce high altitude cirrus on summer days. But most people I know want to keep flying, and most farmers don’t want to go bankrupt or bury their cattle.
So, perhaps we should concentrate on the industrial and political stupidity that is endangering us all through stuff that is proven and readily demonstrable. Labelling nature or air travel as evidence of evil will gain likes on social media, but also help the cause of those who would own and control our atmosphere and food supply.
There is a real problem and major threat out there that we should deal with, if only we can focus.

There is absolutely no question that “Chemical Trails” exist, and are completely different to “Condensation Trails” across the sky.
I have seen planes proceeding in a very leisurely manner across the sky within minutes of each other, often along the same trajectory at the same height on a clear sunny day, some ejecting a continuous stream of white behind them, while others eject nothing, leaving blue sky behind them, and still others turn the white stream on for a bit, then off for a bit, then on again. And the precise geometrical patterns they leave could only be accomplished by the military, in my humble opinion. It’s as if they are “crop dusting” us. I remember reading that an American general vowed to “turn the blue sky white”, and they have certainly achieved that, for whatever purpose. Global Dimming, it seems.
Thousands of other people around the world have observed these “Chemtrails” for years, and they know the difference between “Chemtrails” and “Contrails”.

Chemtrails are not a “conspiracy theory” that I find particularly plausible but I think it’s unlikely that there not things going on that we don’t know about. I would be reluctant to dismiss someone as a “nutter” because they believe that someone is spreading stuff and not being honest about what they are doing.

I try to keep an open mind. “Flying saucers” seem much more unlikely, whereas “chemtrails” are much more like the kind of stuff that people might be tempted to get up to.

Chemtrails have existed since the 1950s. UK gov will happily send you an email confirming why it exists (globaloneywarmtarding). HAARP, DARPA etc for a reason. So too does ‘Rainmaker’.
For example, read up on MK Ultra, which sounds like fiction, and ask yourself what the reaction would have been before it became public if someone had made allegations about what was happening.

When people are walking along the street with eyes glued to their phones, or are driving in cars focusing on the road ahead, or travelling on public transport, and never do more than glance at the sky occasionally, they of course won’t notice these things.
There are many of us who spend a lot of time watching the sky. Over nearly 80 years I have observed that the state of the sky is determined by both the current weather conditions and the effect of an approaching new weather systems.
Most often the sky if cloudy so I have no idea what is going on up there, so if there are chemtrails up there can they penetrate the clouds?
I don’t know whether the pilots bother spraying chemical trails in cloudy conditions, when the whole point is to Dim the Sun, and “turn the blue sky white”, as that US general reportedly vowed decades ago.

I am still waiting for a chemtrail conspiracist to tell us what is in the chemtrails and to identify the storage tanks (a picture of just one would be a start) from where it is pumped into completely secret tanks inside passenger planes.
There are many, many Youtube videos showing just that, including photos of the storage tanks inside converted planes, and the spray nozzles.
There are also many, many Youtube videos showing photos of wildfires in California, Hawaii and Australia, where houses were burnt to the foundations, but the ash is white, not black, and cars burnt so totally that the molten metal is visible on the ground, but somehow the trees right next to them in the “forest fire” remain green with their full complement of branches, only a few singed. I have seen the pictures of converted experimental aircraft, and I have also seen explanations of the systematic tracks that these aircraft fly.
The claims about chemtrails relate to commercial scheduled passenger aircraft flying random straight lines across the sky, which are indistinguishable from normal contrails (probably because that is what they are).
If I understand it correctly, condensation trails result from atmospheric conditions at the time, so you cannot have two planes flying the same route within minutes of each other, often both visible at the same time, one at some distance behind the other, and one is showing a continuous condensation trail, while the other is showing nothing but blue sky, and sometimes one will turn the white trail on and off in spurts. I’m no expert, but I have seen it, perhaps because I’m a pensioner, and I just like gazing at the sky.
Are they dumping fuel, perhaps, as some have suggested?
They will be at different altitudes. See photo below that shows the lower aircraft not trailing vapor.

What about the planes that turn the white trail on and off in spurts, so that you can see a kind of dash pattern. Are they doing Morse Code or something? Well, Vail Code actually, since Alfred Vail invented it, just as Thomas Newcomen invented the steam engine, though James Watt gets the credit.
OK. Please see photos below. The moisture here is not evenly distributed and why should it? It is possible during the late Autumn months to get patchy fog at ground level, so why should that not be the case elsewhere in the atmosphere?

No, chemtrail reports are not necessarily tied to passenger aircraft or “random” lines across the sky.

Notice that all 4 are at different altitudes and I can do the same almost anywhere on the planet. Give this website a go and watch aircraft over where you live. You will get about an hour for free, but clear out cache and cookies and you can get another hour.
Wooden houses leave wood ash which in my experience is white to pale grey. Cars contain a lot of flammable substances concentrated in a small area.
Out of interest where is you nearest town? For your knowledge the airway corridors are about 10nm wide and can be from a few thousand feet above ground to 45,000ft. Eastbound aircraft in airways fly odd thousand feet and Westbound aircraft even thousand feet. Whether flying east or west aircraft do NOT all fly at the same altitude, so there can be several aircraft travelling in the same direction and they will be at different altitudes. The reason why some aircraft appear to be ‘turning contrails on and off’ is because they are flying through air with different amounts of moisture. Natural clouds show you where moisture is and they can be separate distinct clouds or complete cover. It is possible to see all aircraft that are flying just about everywhere over at http://www.flightradar24.com. You can see height, track, make, model, airline and even non airline and military, but with a bit less detail. There are nearly 300 million airline passengers flying in and out of the UK every year and NO ONE has ever noticed anything odd about the aircraft they are flying in. Since the planes I’ve seen that seem to be turning the trails on and off were flying through a clear blue sky, I guess those areas of extra moisture you mentioned are just not visible as clouds from the ground.

Well I’m one of the pilots so blame me. Blame me that in 43 years operating everywhere in the world, I’ve never seen nor heard one single hint of ‘chem-trails’. Even Delingpole gave up arguing with me.

My father was a Lancaster pilot. He and his fellow aviators were concerned about vapour trails: they were a very handy targeting guide for the opposition.

Apparently the combination of particles in the upper atmosphere with HAARP technology enables manipulation of the jetstream, which, if true, goes a long way to explaining floods & droughts. I recall the “monsoon” winter of late 2023-early 2024 where the jetstream I saw on the BBC weather programmes was effectively “pinned” along the English Channel for months on end.
The fact that the government is now coming out of the closet and talking about “proposing” geoengineering is consistent with the authorities coming clean about a secret programme many years after it has already been in operation.

There have been singular tests but these are not going to have much widespread effect. During the latter stages of WW2 the 1,000 bomber raids did effect the weather especially with the larger raids of several thousand bombers. On one occasion the mass of contrails persisted, spread out and then created a high overcast that lasted a day. To replicate that today would require similar high cold damp slow moving air and thousands of aircraft flying in close formation.
The weather we are experiencing is all natural. The biggest impact to global weather was the Hunga Tunga volcano that pushed an astronomical amount of moisture right up into the Stratosphere.
In addition, the IPCC report on aviation could not find anything to pin on aviation but surmised that contrails heat the Earth’s surface. Now it seems contrails are cooling the surface. So which is it?
However, the intent of different governments to ‘invest’ in geo-engineering is alarming and must be blocked as the intentions are bad, the knowledge justifying this is false and the unintended consequences could be significant and bad.
Of course it has been. Flash floods killed 34 or so in Devon due to geo-engg back in the 50s.

The geoengineers working just before the Texas floods were very quick to distance themselves from all the deaths and mayhem. I would be interested to learn whether they were actually responsible. They stopped their work without inducing any rainfall at the time so they may have exacerbated the conditions.

Starmer is deliberately breaking the country in order to force a backlash, after which he could invoke Blair’s Civil Contingencies Act 2004. This act allows the the de-facto imposition of martial law, the seizing of property and assets, the freezing of bank accounts and the cancellation of elections.

A great article that gives what is probably the correct perspective on how geoengineering does exist, but the idea that every airline pilot is covering it up is nonsense. As with many other topics, some of the more outlandish theories will most likely be put out by the deep state to discredit rational scrutiny.

Some days, the sky is criss-crossed with ??????????? – in a grid pattern. That day stays cloudy, and often with rain as well.
