Brighton Council Latest to Take Down St George’s Flags

Police are expected to be present as contractors remove several St George’s flags placed on lamp posts along the coast road from Peacehaven to Brighton. The Telegraph has more.

Labour-run Brighton and Hove has become the latest council to demand the removal of St George’s Cross flags from its streets.

This week, flags have been taken down by a number of local authorities including Tower Hamlets, in East London and Birmingham, after campaigners attached them as part of an online movement called Operation Raise the Colours.

Brighton and Hove City Council confirmed that flags put up along along the East Sussex resort’s seafront would be removed in line with the 1980 Highways Act.

But Bridget Fishleigh, the independent councillor for Rottingdean and West Saltdean, later said the removal had been paused after contractors faced verbal abuse.

Ms Fishleigh told the Argus, Brighton and Hove City Council has advised that it has been making steady progress with the removal of the St George’s flags. However, some people have put up new ones.

“The contractors are unwilling to proceed with further removals unless police are present to ensure the safety of their staff. Sussex Police has confirmed that it will not have the resources available to support this work until next week.” …

Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader, has said it is “shameful” of councils to remove St George’s Cross flags, claiming local rules were being enforced “selectively”. …

Mrs Badenoch pointed to the hesitation of some councils to “address the widespread appearance of Palestinian flags” as an example of “those using power to push a sectarian agenda”.

She continued: “Suppressing the English flag does not stop division. It fuels it. If more councils embraced our shared national identity instead of fearing it, we would not be in a position where flying our own flag is seen as an act of rebellion.” …

Tower Hamlets council, which is run by the pro-Palestinian party Aspire, has vowed to remove any St George’s flags from council property, including lamp posts. …

Last week, residents in Birmingham were ordered by the council to remove hundreds of Union Flags and St George’s flags from the city’s streets.

Worth reading in full.

Stop Press: Dorset council leader Nick Ireland has branded the St George’s flag “intimidating” and claimed it has been hijacked by the far-Right to push an “unacceptable” agenda, according to the Express.

Stop Press 2: If flags become markers of ethnic identity, I fear the Britain I once loved will disappear, says Daniel Hannan in the Telegraph.

Lefties Hate England.

I agree. I have said it before and will now say it again, I believe Lefties and Liberals this side of the Pond hate England and Britain just like the Democrats the other side of the Pond hate America.
A glaring example of this was the referendum in Britain on leaving the European Union. I doubt that any of the Remainers who wanted us to carry on being controlled by the E.U. were people who loved our country.

Correct.
Four things lefties hate most and want to destroy:
1.) The family- that’s why they promote LGBT, drag queens in schools, etc
2.) The nation state – that’s why they promote mass migration
3.) Religion (it’s not that they like Islam, they just hate Christianity)
4.) Private property – that why they prefer a high-tax and state-ownership.
Incidentally these are also the four pillars of a cohesive, stable society.
Ultimately the Left hates everything. It loathes itself too.

Yes all of those things are obstacles in the way of the deluded who think they can perfect everything and the evil who exploit those delusions

Lefties hate other people’s success.

They have to control everything, because they cannot keep track of things outside themselves, outside their ideology. It’s all pretty scary for the, not being able to accept gifts from others – new ideas, new wealth, and new situations aren’t possible in a culture that can only just about manage a mechanistic, predictable, future, with creativity banned. And that includes Intelligence.

No wonder the Arts have morphed into complete dysfunctional ugliness.

Socialism = elevation of the State above the individual, collectivism without property rights, central planned and controlled economy, no political opposition, silence!, complete obedience.

Plenty of awesome footage being shared on social media, too much to post. This patriot fought the law and the law lost;

This will probably be censored soon but these patriots were attacked with petrol bombs by despicable, Anglophobe w@nkers;

”Last night, after hanging patriotic flags around Stevenage for 3 hours, multiple Petrol Bombs were hurled at activists, with one making a direct hit.”

I like people’s creativity. Basically, if it’s white it’s an England flag;

”Until a few weeks ago, you were more likely to see a Palestinian, Ukrainian, or LGBT pride flag flying in London than to see any of the UK’s own colours. Now, thanks to a grassroots movement called Operation Raise the Colours, that could be changing.  Union Jacks and St. George’s flags have been cropping up across the country over the last few weeks, being hung on lampposts by groups of patriots. The movement appears to have begun in Birmingham, organised online, before spreading to Norwich, Bradford, Newcastle, Swindon, and even London.  As you might expect, the flags are being swiftly removed by local councils. Birmingham’s Labour-run city council started pulling them down last week, citing health-and-safety concerns. The flags, fixed to lampposts 25 ft in the air, apparently put the lives of motorists and pedestrians “at risk.” This might have been a believable, if idiotic, excuse had the same council not allowed Palestinian flags to fly across the city—which is almost 30% Muslim—unhindered since October 7th, 2023. This is also the same council that, just last week, lit the city’s library up in green and white to celebrate Pakistan’s independence day. Birmingham City Council officials were even caught admitting in leaked emails earlier… Read more »

Another post I agree with.
You are still not on my list. Hahaha.
A quote from a film from the late 1950s .
A great actor who was playing the part of someone who did not like the British.
”Truth, you see, is like God. Not always on the side of the British”
A British woman replies.
”It pleases you to mock us. We are used to that. Half the world mocks us – and half the world is only civilised because we have made it so.”

I have just looked at the Government web-site;
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/flying-flags-a-plain-english-guide/flying-flags-a-plain-english-guide
This site states;
The government wants to see more flags flown, particularly the Union Flag, the flag of the United Kingdom. It is a symbol of national unity and pride. The government has recently issued guidance encouraging the flying of the Union Flag on all UK government buildings throughout the year, alongside other national and local flags.”

If I have read this guidance correctly? then Councils should be giving good citizenship awards to people putting up UK and St George’s flags, not pulling the flags down.

This seems to fly in the face of the reality on the ground, from lots of footage being shared. Also, Birmingham Council should take note. On government buildings it should be exclusively flags of the UK flown. Nothing else, no rainbow bollocks, Palestine crapola etc.

In this clip a guy’s been stopped by police just for beeping his horn in support of a protest. Contrast this with the clip on the right where everybody’s beeping their horns on Pakistan Independence Day, and not an officer in sight. But I’ve noticed police always look super confident and assertive when harassing and arresting white people;

LB Newham were very slow to do anything about the Palestinian flag flying in their borough, even though that is not a country and its display was a provocative and aggressive onbe.

If councils claim that “unqualified” people attaching flags to lamp posts puts them at risk then surely the answer is to leave them there so people don’t feel the need to “risk their lives” putting up new ones.

After decades of successive governments not caring about/actively destroying UK manufacturing I wonder how many, if any, of the England/British flags were made in England/Britain.
Imo the patriots should do everything possible to try and buy flags made in this country even if they cost a bit more meaning they can put up a few less.

What a load of crap. People fly your flags this is your country. The councils are only there because you pay them, they work for you. How dare they take down your flags. Since when did a flag hurt anyone. Since when did a country remove its own flag. President Trump do you see what the davos sock puppet gov’t is up to in the Uk. Shame on everyone of them, they are a disgrace to their country!

Well Labour is showing its true colours it hates England, and it despises the UK. What has Kier Starmer said to stop his councils doing this? Nothing.

Can you imagine the reaction in France or the USA if anybody tried, or even suggested removing the Tricolour or the Stars and Stripes from public places. Only in England could you be having a war over flying your own country’s flag. Do you think something might be slightly amiss with English society? Watching the death throws of ones own national identity is somewhat alarming!

The more Councils that do this the more people are going to vote for Reform. We are seeing the true colours all right and by this I mean the true colours of our politicians pushing their own agendas. This racket has been going for thirty years, ever since the Blair era with his insane changes. However, it is stopping, the only question now is when not if.

“If flags become markers of ethnic identity, I fear the Britain I once loved will disappear, says Daniel Hannan in the Telegraph.”

St George Cross, Union Jack/Flag are markers of our monocultural identity and nation, you idiot.

The usual lazy, ignorant conflating of culture with race to invent a “Far Right”, therefore “racist” which can be used as a bludgeon to beat the citizenry who want their culture, their way of life, their Country back and economic prosperity returned.

Hannan (net worth £2million to £5million) is part of the Tory mob who inflicted it on us – he should buggeroff back to Peru whence he came.
