Civil War in the West vs the War for Technocracy
I want to draw your attention to two academics who are contributing to the task of waking up England. Academics are not known for courage. And these two are courageous: one, perhaps, to a fault. Most academics overrate their own intellectual powers, since they contribute supinely to emasculated and unread literatures, repeating elite or establishment opinions as if they somehow believe them. It is a vast hall of mirrors, the academic world. But every now and then someone comes along and uses their research to say something extremely bold: and here, I mean not just bold (BBC bold: you know, “Oh, I am not sure we can say that on Question Time”), but bold (Gilgamesh bold, Veil of the Temple bold, Cry Havoc and Let Slip the Dogs of War bold).
You may have heard of David Betz, but you are less likely to have heard of David Hughes. Both are what I think we can call genuinely interesting academics: in one case, now, a former academic. Betz has recently entered the public consciousness this year just on this side of respectability with his claim that the UK is close to civil war. He has evidently published many books, but his recent articles entitled ‘Civil War Has Come to the West’ recently brought him to public attention, at least on the podcast side of things. A cursory inspection of YouTube reveals that he has been interviewed by Andrew Gold, by Triggernometry, by Mary Harrington for UnHerd, by Louise Perry and by The New Culture Forum. On the other hand, David Hughes – and let me say that I depend on the great James Delingpole, even now, for an awareness of what is happening ‘over the border’ of the Overton Window (there is no sign that Peter Whittle is lining up Hughes for an interview…) – is, to my mind, a similar figure. But there are two differences, one cause and one consequence. The cause is that, unlike Betz, Hughes has not only suggested calamity but also suggested conspiracy. The consequence, perhaps inevitably, is that he is no longer an academic. Interestingly, while he was an academic, he wrote a very penetrating article alleging a sort of conspiracy of silence amongst academics about the nature of the 9/11 attacks, entitled ‘9/11 Truth and the Silence of the IR Discipline’ (Alternatives: Global, Local, Political 45 (2020), pp. 55-82), which is a fascinating read. I suggest you read it. Yes, indeed, why does everyone accept the official political line about the Two Towers?

100% – Convid was a planned scamdemic and a form of Nazism or war. Some of the planning dates back 20 years. It certainly was ushered in to prevent a 2nd Trump term. The 30-40 mn vote fraud for the Demon party could only be realised by a lockdown. The fake virus only affected the G20 and those stabbinated states. Nothing happened in Africa, SA, LA, the Amish etc.
Viruses don’t exist. If you believe they do your proof is very thin indeed. Even if they do exist, you don’t lockdown the G20. It was not a bacterial or parasitical plague. The death rate was 0.3%.
It is entirely accurate to call it a war on us, and the imposition of Medical Nazism. That is what I saw.
It was engineered to steal an election, acclimate the sheeple to project fear, diapers, stabs and fascism. And 80% were enthusiastic, brain dead participants. The only question I need to ask someone is, ‘what did you do during the Rona plandemic?’. They complied of course.
Real people destroyed by the Rona nazism.
I think that’s a bit harsh. It takes time to erode trust which is not the same thing as gullibility. The real evil is found in the deceivers, not the deceived.
No, I disagree. I had the Scamdemic worked out by May 2020. If I could do it so could my peers. They didn’t, they complied.
I had by 16th March 2020, but human perceptions differ – if they didn’t there would be no problems. I think it was a huge leap for non suspicious minds to make and a vile breach of trust. Don’t forget, the magisterium already had the measure of common behaviour and weaponised it.
This would indeed be a new thing. Civil war at home and war abroad all at once.
But as C S Lewis put it, all find what they truly seek.
Especially the IPCC.
someone said a few days ago that people who are worried about technology getting out of hand and dangerous in twenty years time are wrong because we are living in 20 years time now.
I just remembered where I heard it. Basically the surveillance by big tech is all pervasive and I guess due to recent government actions is now standard practice.

Interesting!
Progress is in pursuit of efficiency, but we think in terms of intelligence. Max efficiency is when everyone supports one system , which is conformity and that will be AI
The accusation of “conspiracy theory” is a tool of intimidation. It threatens social exclusion and works on most people except those who don’t care all that much about mild social exclusion and being considered weird.
The hilarious thing is that everyone believes in conspiracies. Everyone accepts they happen. E.g. the Gunpowder Plot. Everyone accepts governments and institutions conspire. E.g. Pearl Harbour, the Spanish Civil War.
Everyone believes that evil people have at some point been in power and done evil things. But for some reason, it’s never happening now, it’s never happening to us, and for reasons that are unfathomable to me, no one in our ruling classes is like that, or at least, no one with enough clout.
Honestly, if we are surrounded by dumb lemmings, we get what we deserve.
I put the gullibility down to very poor education standards and guess who controls education, We all know, it’s the government. Rachel from accounts is now destroying any alternatives for all but the extremely wealthy. In other words making alternatives completely out of reach of normal people.
The rot started in the post war Labour government, they started to control every aspect and by the 1960s the rot was well and truly setting in.
Fast forward to around 2000 when university fees were introduced by Blair we now have people who will be in debt for many, many years. Then take into account the subject expansion for things that would be better dealt with by vocational training.
The whole thing is a totally dysfunctional mess deliberately created in such a way so that it is presented to benefit the working classes when in fact it has done the exact opposite.
The biggest enemy of the people is the government, they are all pretty useless.
I don’t think you need to be well educated to be suitably sceptical about what some powerful people are doing or trying to do (though I agree that control of education by the extreme left is not helping).
I tend to think the overriding reason is material prosperity and relative peace – we have been lulled into a false sense of security. The Chinese understood the need to supply goods that people want, to make their regime sustainable. The Soviet bloc failed at that, with the result we saw.
Well the Chinese are have more billionaires in the background and the appearance of communism/socialism is a 19th century throwback that we could well do without. It’s a primitive system calculated to keep wealth in the hands of those who are prepared to wield power.
Of course there are some who are naturally inquisitive but the majority of children have been manipulated by the commies since the 1940s and need to be taught to question everything. The system now is a vehicle for primitive brain dead left wing thinking and it will lead to trouble. Oh wait a minute it is, the whole of Europe is in chaos!
Indeed – and I think most people hold leaders in obviously dysfunctional countries in low regard – believing them not just to be incompetent, but malicious. Somehow they seem to think that people who seek power in rich world countries are somehow immune from the flaws of human nature (except for Trump of course). I don’t think it occurs to people that some humans, probably especially those who seek power, will do what they can get away with, and that what they can get away with in a democracy requires the vigilance of the people, the media, the judiciary, the institutions.
I think Betz is right: the British people are sleepwalking into civil war.
And I think Hughes is right: the Globalists (in the UK and elsewhere) have engineered it in order to impose a technocratic New World Order/One World Government.
I don’t think they are sleepwalking any longer, any semblance of doubt should have been entirely dispelled when our dictatorial leader brushed off criticism and protest against little girl being sliced up as right wing. If that is truly the case then murdering little girls must be left wing. To top it off the utter cretin then made sure a vulnerable woman was imprisoned. The latest atrocity by these monsters is to have one of their judges preside over a case of incitement to violence by a socialist and seeing him walk free.
its clear that the government have absolutely no concern about the welfare of children and they haven’t cared since the then Director of prosecutions covered up mass rape.
More than one vulnerable woman was imprisoned. Lest we forget.
I hadn’t read the comments when I posted much the same.
It’s a fine article. The answer of course is a mixture of the two, Hughes and Betz are both correct – the useless elites are actively pushing, promoting civil war.
I think the article is a fine essay – but I suspect there is a third option to the Cock Up and Conspiracy theories. It would go some way to explaining why neither theory has predictive power. I offer a third theory ‘Murmuration’. The theory is that a great deal of ‘events’ can be ascribed to some simple rules of human nature, which under the right circumstances emerge as a ‘flock’ or ‘fashion’. From “Cock-up, Conspiracy or Murmuration?” – I propose that public and Governmental responses to Covid-19 are emergent phenomena determined by the six following human tendencies: Fear Greed Over-valuation of abstraction Emotional Incompetence Cognitive Inertia Groupthink. The behaviour of approximately 80% of the population and more than 95% of people in positions of political, medical and scientific authority is determined by these six tendencies. They work together, just like Craig Reynolds’ three rules of Separation, Alignment and Coherence, to create the murmuration of totalitarianism. It could explain how ‘fashions’ like Covid-19 response, the European Union, wokeism, and multiculturalism catch on and are hard to dismiss. It explains the economic bubbles like the dot.com bubble or historically Tulip Mania, the South Sea Company bubble, or perhaps various political events.… Read more »
All good points, though “Greed” suggests conspiracy to me.
Alternatively, Opportunism. Profit or self-preservation. Fear for career prospects, wanting to be able to continue paying the mortgage, angling for a promotion, seeing a financial opportunity.
I think a huge conspiracy would collapse. Perhaps only a few really ‘knew’ and they stampeded the cattle, leading to many smaller conspiracies driven by human nature.
Doesn’t have to be huge conspiracy – as you say, plenty of smaller ones. Suspect something pretty fishy was going on in WHO, CDC, Fauci and US Military biodefense circles
Murmuration is certainly analogous to the covid response. Just as frost can mimic leaves, natural phenomena can reflect human reactions. My own observations tell me that far fewer people are willing to believe a single word coming from most politicians. But there will always be gullible idiots because you can’t fix stupidity.
And I think this is a fine reply. Murmuration? A great idea.
When the institutions created to bring about peaceful solutions in a society and protect its members from the State have been overtaken by the State and its agents and akolytes to be used as weapons to bludgeon the citizenry into compliance and silence, then the natural, default method of conflict resolution is violence, when Government declares war on the people.
James, read my book! Honestly. It is an accessible, narrative introduction of the philosophical underpinning of delusional thinking that causes ( or per Hughes is used to create ) our parlous situation. https://www.hughwillbourn.com/book – and you will find out about the heron too 😉
Yes, James, do. I haven’t yet read it myself but the article Discoveredjoys has a link to is itself worth reading.
Very interesting piece!
That is why the current flag waving initiative is quite clever. Making a point without aggression.
I would like to suggest that it is perfectly OK to consider our predicament at any level of definition, but that the most profound is entirely non- representational, and therefore meaningful and intelligent.
The problem for our freedom is that the present system is based entirely on the delegation of individual understanding to the representational process and structure of cognition, this is the efficient necessity of forming a society, whose advantages seem overwhelming. The disadvantage of delegation is that efficiency is not sufficient, and an understanding of the principle of efficiency requires that non- formal understanding that we came here with.
THere is only one point on which I would disagree – that it only started in 2020.
The WEF is not benign. THe EU is not benign. The recent versions of WHO is not benign. All started well before 2020.
I have tried to read that “penetrating article” Professor Alexander recommends but pp. 63-69 incl. are blank, some black blank, some white blank but all absolutely blank — and it’s the bit that is most interesting: what actually happened to those towers on 9/11?! Is this a redaction within a conspiracy about a false flag?
