Why a Michelin-starred restaurant ditching its vegan menu marks the return of the carnivore”

Well, the picture of ‘a plant based dish’ which accompanies the article makes it pretty clear why customers might be turning away from their offering… I have tame vegans in the family, they’ve never offered me anything that looks quite as revolting.

I don’t care if people want to eat vegan. I do care if they are wearing leather shoes, or a leather handbag while doing it. I do care if what they think is acceptable to eat, impinges on my choice.

No, no. We’re not supposed to eat Vegans.

UEFA’s banner: ‘Stop Killing Children’ – but which ones?

Interesting too that they should have chosen to roll out this particular banner in front of Tottenham’s ‘Yid Army’ supporters… hmm?

Everyone wants to change the world to what they imagine would be so much better. UEFA would be better getting their own house in order first…

Perverted liberalism has led to neo-Marxism, perverted patriotism may yet lead to neo-fascism

What is ‘perverted patriotism.? Loving your country, wanting to be able to live in peace and without fear. I’m prepared to take that risk…

Moores message is to leave the old parties in place, especially the Conservative Party. The article is not a lesson in political analysis but an attempt to rally Tory supporters through fear.

There will be more of that as the GE approaches.

Time to sack ‘activist’ judges, says Robert Jenrick

Well, you enabled them for 14 years Bob. Do you mean ‘all of them’, replace the lot.? I think he probably does.

Trump fails to secure Ukraine deal at Alaska summit with Putin
‘…all these points about how international law must be respected will be meaningless if you have no means of exerting pressure. He does not want to negotiate because he understands that a long war of attrition will reward him with Ukraine as part of the Russian Federation. The only thing that can stop him is pressure.’

Western economies are too dependent on Beijing to apply real pressure: “They fear that their economy will simply collapse from a social point of view if cooperation with Beijing ends.”

the West has little desire to finance Ukraine, there is no pressure on China, and sanctions cannot change Putin’s point of view. So why should Putin discuss anything with them? You can discuss anything, but to end the war, you need real pressure on Russia,”

Vitaly Portnikov

And, if Ukraine falls, ultimately Western civilisation falls.

The only question will be whether it takes a decade or a few decades.

I think ‘Trump fails’ is rather disingenuous. There were no promises given about outcomes. Trump talked to Putin, Putin talked to Trump. No significant agreement was reached, although maybe the discussions were moved on a stage.

The facts are straightforward: ‘We haven’t quite got there…’ President Trump, Alaska 16 August 2025 This is the reality: ‘A media strategist working with the Kremlin’s political team said ‘The main point is dialogue with the U.S. for the sake of dialogue.’  The Kremlin’s latest guidelines for Russia’s propaganda media focus: ‘The Russian side is interested in discussing a transformation of overall bilateral relations, though of course it is ready to touch on the Ukrainian issue. Present Putin as the central figure in the talks, stressing that he, not Trump, sets the agenda in the two countries’ relationship. Claim that Ukraine’s leadership is “unwilling to negotiate” Putin and Trump are working on an agreement, and it’s Putin who sets the terms of that agreement.’  President Trump deserves great credit for going the extra mile but there are many more miles to go and they will take a long time to cover unless the U.S. President grips this….which he quite clearly does not wish so to do…….. Russia is now a satellite of China. Putin cut a diminished ‘small man’ figure in Alaska. The U.S. strategy of weakening Russia has been a great success. President Trump clearly sees little need to do more. With Russia now a once more enfeebled regional power, this has become Europe’s problem…..and Europe is incapable of decisive action. If Western Europe permits… Read more »

Did a Russian media strategist really refer to his own country as “enfeebled”?

Stop heavy-handed treatment of Palestine protesters, equality watchdog warns

Like this lady with her two signs (well done for carrying two, btw)

The woman said neither of her signs mentioned Palestine Action and that she had told police she did not support any proscribed organisations.

Not supporting, just marching along with hundreds of others, with two placards and a flag. Present but not involved…

“ J.D. Vance is part of a new wave of Right-wing politics that is flirting with dangerous ideas and people, warns Charles Moore in the Telegraph.”

With friends like The Telegraph, who need enemies. Perhaps Moore means dangerous ideas like democracy, where the unwashed masses rather than people like him decide how we are governed.

The word “fascist” was bandied about a lot when Meloni was elected. Friends and family in Italy and a personal visit there are yet to reveal brownshirts marching in the streets.

Funnily enough, the state of affairs most akin to “fascism” that I have personally experienced happened in 2020 onwards with the excuse of a fake pandemic. I don’t remember Moore saying how “dangerous” that was.

Charles Moore is often an interesting read – he comes across as the voice of a past era and is almost always wrong

Thanks. A much more succinct way of saying what I was going to say. Moore is an anachronism.

Rockefeller-funded activists behind first wrongful death suit targeting Big Oil

Misti Leon filed the pioneering complaint in Washington state court on May 29, accusing seven oil companies of being responsible for the 2021 heat-wave death of her mother.

It would be interesting to know how old her mother was and if she had medical conditions which might have shortened her life.

Two days earlier, Leon quietly appointed climate activist and nonprofit leader Sarah Myhre to serve as the agent for her deceased mother’s estate, according to sealed court filings obtained by the Free Beacon. Myhre, who isn’t a lawyer, will be responsible for handling the estate’s papers as the case proceeds.

It would also be interesting to know how much her mother’s estate was worth at her death and how much Leon receives when the dust settles. I hope she’s happy to spaff the lot on Green charlatans.
