‘teachers can “request” that children call them by their preferred gender pronouns’
Sir or Miss are not pronouns, they are classified as nouns. So the invented Mx is a noun also. Probably children will call them Minx which is also a noun.
Children use Sir or Miss as denoting their sex, not their marital status!
We used to call all teachers “Sir” including the female teachers. My parents knew the french teacher quite well who joked that one of her sons (who was a pupil at her school) often used to forget where he was and call his mother “sir” outside school.
Sometimes secondary school kids out and about with their school call me sir – very odd!
I can only remember one female teacher at my secondary school and she was French so we called her Madame. I have no idea if she was married or not. It’s just a mark of respect. I guess a less silly alternative to the absurd “Mx” would be “Teacher”. I think the Italians use “Professore”.
Good points. They are definitely not pronouns. Illiterate idiots. I hadn’t really considered that they were nouns but I guess they are. They are direct forms of address whereas pronouns are used for referring to third parties.

Let’s not rewrite history: Nicola Sturgeon was a truly dire politician Beyond doubt, worse than a numpty….a self absorbed, self indulgent ninny bordering on the criminally insane. The result: The SNP returned only nine of Scotland’s 57 MPs, a dramatic collapse from the 48 elected in 2019. Why? ‘Scotland has the highest level of deaths due to problem drug use in Europe, and the UK’s highest numbers of deaths due to problem alcohol use.’ ‘Scottish education is broken says teachers’ leader……growing levels of bureaucracy and “random edicts” by the exam body, the SQA………teachers were forced to spend so much time on paperwork and demands from organisations like the inspectorate that they did not get enough time to prepare classes and teach them.’ ‘This damning report exposes the reality of poor culture and poor care at Scotland’s largest health board and is no doubt reflective of failings that are felt across many parts of Scotland’s NHS……ambulance stacking has become a normalised solution for emergency department crowding…..There is a strong perception among staff at the point of care that targets and budgetary matters have gained a greater priority for senior leadership/management3 over the quality and safety of care. Sturgeon didn’t care…..and the… Read more »
I must admit I don’t understand the Scottish people.
I mean, fair enough, here in England we have a loathsome government, full of talentless numpties.
Wokery is infused in every aspect of politics. It’s bad.
But Scotland?
It’s like they try to outdo every aspect of the crappiest, wokest, most absurd nonsense that the political elite can come up with.
And Nicola… I mean, really?
Yes, in spades.
The only theory I have, no doubt hopelessly wrong like most of my theories, is that 30% of Scots voters will vote SNP come what may because most of them are descendants of Irish republican immigrants.
And labour, Conservative, Limp dim voters will not vote tactically.
So Scotland, once a sanatorium, great education system, is doomed to race ahead of England towards a new age of darkness.
Yes Scotland first, but very closely followed by Wales.
Perhaps Starmer should have done a deal with the Scottish government instead of giving Macron £millions re irregular migrants. Surely there are some suitable barren places or little isles that tent cities could be erected whilst the would be asylum seekers are rapidly processed.
Good plan. For illegal migrants, tented encampments on the sparsely populated because midge infested west coast suggest themselves……
I went to Scotland many years ago to a wedding in a castle. I became a midge-banquet. I have never been bitten as much in my life!
Apparently Avon Skin So Soft is the way to combat midges.
Yer da sells Avon!
I’m on the west coast of Scotland right now and it’s too bloody cold for midges.
Yes.
“Processed?”
What does this mean?
Quick checklist – are they in the UK legally having completed all necessary documentation and been approved. If not, the order of the boot is bestowed on them and get rid!
I think a deal could be done with Putin to reduce some sanctions. All failed irregulars to be transferred over to the vast salt mines or some such heavy labour etc to work and housed in basic accommodations with basic rations with a limited timeframe to remove themselves or else. I can’t see many treating Putin as a soft touch!
I think that would greatly reduce the number of boats and lorries carrying illegals. I don’t think for one minute they would have anticipated they’d end up in the wilds of Russia! 😆
Ah, now you’re talking ellie. 😀
Perhaps relocating all illegal migrants to Scotland would be the best deterrent.
Britain remains the greatest place to live: here are 12 reasons why ‘This royal throne of kings, this scepter’d isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands, This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England, This nurse, this teeming womb of royal kings, Fear’d by their breed and famous by their birth, Renowned for their deeds as far from home, For Christian service and true chivalry, As is the sepulchre in stubborn Jewry Of the world’s ransom, blessed Mary’s Son, This land of such dear souls, this dear dear land, Dear for her reputation through the world, Is now leased out, I die pronouncing it, Like to a tenement or pelting farm: England, bound in with the triumphant sea, Whose rocky shore beats back the envious siege Of watery Neptune, is now bound in with shame, With inky blots and… Read more »

“Badenoch: I would cut migrant Channel crossings to zero”
Fu£k off Kemi! Your lot had 14 years to stop it and did nothing
I didn’t hear you back then shouting from the rooftops about illegal migrant crossing or any other immigration for that matter, and your tory-liberal chums certainly won’t let you do anything about it anyway!

“Check the Data, France 24, climate change isn’t causing worsening wildfires in France”
No it isn’t, 85% of all wildfires worldwide are caused by direct human activity be it accidental negligence or arson the rest are naturally caused eg by lightning or volcanic activity and sometimes naturally escaping gases!
“Russell T Davies is wrong to blame populists for the crisis of gay liberation”
What on earth is a “crisis of gay liberation”? Have we suddenly made homosexual conduct illegal or passed laws allowing discrimination against homosexuals? Or is the crisis that the original aims of “gay liberation” have all been achieved and most people are simply not interested anymore?
