Migration Adds 707,000 People to the Population of England and Wales in Just a YEAR – The Second Largest Jump Since 1945
The population of England and Wales has shot up by over 700,000 in just one year – nearly all of it down to international migration. The Mailhas more.
It is the second-largest annual numerical rise in more than 75 years – behind only the increase of more than 800,000 people that took place from mid-2022 to mid-2023.
There were an estimated 61.8 million people in England and Wales in mid-2024, up 706,881 from 61.1 million in mid-2023, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Almost all of this increase was due to international migration, with natural change – the difference between births and deaths – accounting for only a small proportion.
Net international migration – the difference between people moving to the country and leaving – accounted for 690,147 of the estimated population increase of 706,881 people, or 98% of the total, the ONS said.
Some 1,142,303 people were estimated to have come to England and Wales as immigrants in the 12 months to June 2024 while 452,156 were likely to have emigrated. …
The highest rates of population growth were City of London (11.1%), Oadby and Wigston (3.1%), and Preston (2.9%).

I agree with Matt. It’s far better to have less people than more. Plus, it’s not as if the vast majority are highly skilled and coming over to fill a skills shortage. The UK needs a Viktor Orban 2.0;

Gaining 1.1 million gimmegrants only here for the benefits and to touch up young girls and losing 400k of your best and most enterprising doesn’t seem like much of an exchange to me, in other words the situation is far worse than they are making out.

Plod are always going to be a problem because the educational quality of the recruitment, including as it does substantial immies, is now extremely poor. As we see on a daily basis this lot are now a threat to the population.

The growing clamour for our elected politicians to stop this is misplaced. Like the power to set interest rates (see Gov. of Bank of England), net-zero policy (see climate change committee), and so much else, powers that once resided with the House of Commons have been renounced and transferred.
Open door immigration is Home Office policy. The Home Secretary is in charge, right? Let’s not be naive. Visas to rural Pakistanis are issued on demand by remote home office workers of Pakistani heritage, who are said to charge £2K a time.
Interfere and be called a racist or a bully or both.
The population of rural Pakistan – with its clans and customs unaltered – is being transferred entire into England.
1,142,303 new aliens should be the headline. Net migration is irrelevant to this discussion. It’s about our culture and race becoming a minority in our homeland.

I wonder when we’ll start seeing herds of goats all over the countryside. We’re getting so many goat herders, there must be flocks of them hidden away in very remote places.
