Trump’s Ultimatum Leaves the International Energy Agency Facing Oblivion if it Won’t Abandon Net Zero Fantasies
The International Energy Agency (IEA), established in 1974 in the wake of the Arab oil embargo, was founded with a clear and vital mission: to ensure energy security for its member nations, with coordinated oil stockpiling and rigorous data and analysis to guide energy planning and investment. For decades, it served as a beacon of pragmatic, evidence-based policymaking. It was also an important source of data and energy best practice for policymakers of non-member states around the world.
However, like other major global institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the IEA has strayed far from its original charter, as I have written about extensively (here, here and here). Over the past decade or so, it has morphed into a mouthpiece for the progressive-Leftist establishment, particularly the Brussels-based European Union elite and the US Democratic Party, peddling climate alarmism and promoting unrealistic ‘Net Zero’ policies aligned with the Paris Agreement. This ideological capture has undermined its credibility.

Can’t come soon enough. The entire ‘climate change’ narrative is a house of cards built on cod science.
Average temperature is a scientific impossibility. Temperature is an intensive property and cannot be added or averaged. Ie what is 20°C + 30°C? It’s not 50°C. It would be some midpoint amalgamation between the two volumes mixed.
And temperature doesn’t record volume: Is your thermometer recording a localised phenomenon (like landing aircraft engines) or a vast airmass? Has a dense conifer forest grown up near your station? Ask glider pilots where they get hot thermals from.
Any ‘average’ figure is merely a statistic and not a temperature. And there are an infinite number of ways to average numbers. So “if the planet’s temperature increases by 1.5°C..” or whatever is garbargio. What drives climate are energy differences.
It’s all a crock.
Some time ago, I saw the BBC having a “climate scientist” on when there was a 20°C day in February. He said, and I joke not, that “the average February day was 10°C and yesterday at 20°C was twice as hot—so imagine if a summer’s day was twice as hot as normal!”
I was shocked to hear such nonsense from a supposed scientist on the BBC. Quite obviously, if you want to make multiplicative comparisons about temperature then you have to switch from Celsius to Kelvin. So, that Feb day was 293 Kelvin as opposed to the average of 283 which is only 3.5% above normal not 100%.
But, it was so obviously insanely wrong, just pop in different numbers and see how much crazier the results, how about “The average day in place such and such is -1°C and today was 20°C—this must mean that a normal summer’s day of 20°C might become, wait for it, -400°C”.
Camp Century on the Greenland ice sheet, built in 1959, is now under 100 meters of ice. Bloody global warming.
The world may be slightly warmer than 100 years ago…the evidence is patchy because the temperature record is incomplete.
If the world is warmer, the effect is entirely beneficial. Almost every species on the planet prefers warmth to cold. Even in Africa, cold weather kills more people than heatwaves.
The warming (if any) may have been caused by CO2. The only evidence for CO2 causing warming comes from computer simulations of the heat flow in the atmosphere, but those simulations are clearly wrong.
On the basis of all this, the UK government is shutting down the economy. Fertiliser production, aluminium production, steel production, oil refining are all going or gone.
The electricity supply has become expensive and major blackouts are on the way.
Those whome the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.
So called world temperatures are a scam. We cannot measure the temperature of a whole planet, like we can’t measure sea levels accurately either.
The UK government is simply following policy from The Trilateral Commission, of which Starmer is a sleeping member. They worked out decades ago that if you control energy, then you control everything. Given that Starmer once said that he preferred the WEF to parliament because parliament is too restricting, I think it’s safe to assume his loyalties are elsewhere.
Not just incomplete but much of the temperature data is worthless due to site corruption or fiddling.
It’s all too little, too late. The damage the IEA has done is too great to be undone in a timeframe that stop further decline.
we see “ too little, too late” often when something that should have been started before, is now just being started. Thats complete tosh. Its never too late, and if it starts small, in a measured, considered, way then maybe thats the best way, and the only way.
‘Margaret Thatcher is the inspiration for Donald Trump’s policies in the White House, the US President’s former chief strategist has said. Mr Bannon…..said that Mr Trump’s policies were based on “pure Thatcherism”. ‘What we are trying to do is get a piece of action for the little guy……..That’s better jobs, better wages, there is also entrepreneurial finance, giving access to capital, that is pure Thatcherism. She is the inspiration for that – her and [Ronald] Reagan but more Thatcher.’ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/07/13/revealed-brutal-advice-donald-trump-gave-theresa-may-brexit/ What happens in America never stays in America. In fact today’s Daily Telegraph sets out exactly what Britain should do to restore growth…………and so much else: ‘It is not exactly hard. The time has come to stop pushing up the “living wage” by more than the rate of inflation every year. We need to deregulate the labour market, repealing Rayner’s idiotic reforms and also blocking the madness of judges effectively setting wage rates by using equalities legislation. It is better to be hired and fired than to never be hired at all. We need to rein in the public sector to reduce the deficit and allow room for supply-side tax cuts. We need a radical programme of liberalisation to fire up the… Read more »
Gdpr? I have started a businesses and never found gdpr ( the EU successor to the UKs Data Protection Act) to be an impediment. Its just a case of registration and respecting personal information. Unless of course you want to use people’s information without consent for whatever reason. That said, gdpr didnt stop some scammer stealing my identity and using my mobile number to scam other people.
The woke virus can strike anywhere.
Global Institutions, starting with the UN, are effectively attempting to impose Socialism worldwide.
The extremists who infest the UN and all the Globalist Quangos (WHO, IMF, WEF etc) believe that the only reason Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried is because it hasn’t been implemented everywhere at the same time.
They are trying to impose it everywhere.
Not Socialism, rather it is trying to restore serfdom to the majority of humanity.
Another good piece of work by Donald. Looking forward to the trials of Obummer, Shrillary & co over their 2016 Russia hoax.
Common sense again from Mr Doshi.
