No, 170 Londoners Didn’t “Die of Climate Change” Last Week

According to Imperial College and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, 170 Londoners died due to climate change in last week’s heatwave. But it’s just more modelling make believe, says Ross Clark in the Spectator. Here’s an excerpt.

So, 260 Londoners died as a result of last week’s heatwave, of which 170 can be attributed to climate change. So claims Imperial College and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

There’s just the one problem with this: the researchers haven’t actually counted any deaths at all. The study rushed out this week is nothing more than a piece of modelling, which estimates the number of deaths which might be expected to have been caused by the hot weather, as well as trying to guess how much hotter last week’s weather was than it would have been without man-made climate change. We won’t know whether there really were any excess deaths during the hot weather until the Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes its figures in a few weeks’ time.

Why rush out a piece of modelling when we will shortly have some real-world data? The researchers will have to explain their reasoning, but it is as well to note that both the participants in this study have a bit of previous when it comes to modelling alarming numbers of deaths.

Both were heavily involved in modelling during the Covid pandemic. Many of their predictions were not able to be tested against real data: we will never know, for example, whether 500,000 people really would have died of Covid were it not for social distancing measures – as Imperial College claimed in its paper of March 16th 2020 – because, of course, the government did impose a lockdown.

But towards the end of the crisis, one prediction was able to be tested against reality. On December 11th 2021, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine put out a paper claiming that 24,000 people would die as a result of the Omicron variant of Covid, with daily hospitalisations peaking above those in January 2021, unless the government introduced a return to lockdown -style measures. Perhaps it was counting on ministers taking its advice, but in the event the cabinet resisted – and the prediction was exposed for what it was: a gross exaggeration.

Needs post-mortem results of the 170 people to confirm

It’s impossible to confirm that because there’s only one climate everyone’s exposed to. Anything beyond that is in the realm of fiction. We don’t know how the climate would be had the industrial revolution never happened because it did happen. There’s no planet B we could use for controlled experiments and no time machine which would enable us to repeat them and hence, climate change cannot be scientifically researched.

People creating truckloads of highly complicated bullshit-with-numbers is not scientifc research. It’s just highly complicated bullshit-with-numbers.

Its unfalsifiable therefore its not Scientific its BS.

As you said you can’t know the outcome of other decisions taken at other times, you only see the evidence of what is!

Is that “from” or “with” climate change?

I wonder how many ppl have had heat stroke on their death certificates. I bet it’s a lot less than 170. A FOI request would be interesting.

Hot weather does kill a relatively small number of very frail elderly people although globally 10 times more people die of cold related conditions than heat related ones. Ultimately the number of deaths is far less important than the fact that very hot days have always occurred and are nothing to do with CO2 emissions although tens of millions of people in the UK are experiencing much hotter temperatures than they would of done 150 years ago due to the urban heat island effect.

100% agree, and the benefits of fossil fuels and CO2 are never considered

All it takes is one ideologically committed coroner to list a cause of death as:
(1) Heatstroke, secondary to
(2) Climate change
like one did for that girl who died of a respiratory condition which was attributed to “air pollution” with no obvious evidence, and it will be trotted out as proof of reaching the tipping point for years to come.

Yes, that’s true. If people start to examine death certificate stats then they will fix that just the same as they did covid.

Scraping the barrel, much? You cry wolf too many times, decade after decade, your hysterical scaremongering efforts become like white noise, and people become wise to your grift. Cripes, even the ‘doom goblin’ jumped bandwagon. Time to pretend she suddenly gives a stuff about the forever refugees in Gaza. People have bigger fish to fry and actual, real life problems to think about. But this particular hoax is not going anywhere. Too many vested interests and money ( and egos ) involved. We’ll all be pushing up daisies and it’ll still be going strong;

“Americans AREN’T afraid of climate change!”

“Climate activists have not successfully made the case to the American people!”

That’s because the climate grift has been going on for 40 years. Climate changes. Always has. Always will. Man has no say on it.

Imperial college you say?

That bastion of manufactured truth!

Was there a certain Mr. Ferguson involved in any way, and his clown world algorithms.

The occasional, rare, heatwave isn’t a great time to be elderly but the long dark cold British winter is far worse. My Grandmother died in the middle of the June 1975 heat wave. It may have played a part but she was definitely “in God’s waiting room”.

I’m one of the people who died of climate change recently.
I would glue myself to the pavement in protest but I have no body left.

It pains me to say it as a fellow scientist, but those at Imperial College and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are nothing more than useful idiots, blinded by ignorance and hubris.

It’s about funding. There is money in being a useful idiot.

For a fist full of roubles

Just imagine a doctor’s strike at the same time as a heat wave!

Actually less people die when the doctors go on strike, apparently.

Will Imperial( Fergusson) has a lot of previous. New variant CJD 2000,000 deaths, foot and mouth swine flu. Piece de resistance 500,000 covid deaths.
They never mention the 65000 winter cold deaths.
Their (Imperial) funding is interesting.

Modelling isn’t science, and is not evidence of anything. We are being sold a lie all based on models. There is no climate crisis. It is globalist politics. ——–It is about control of wealth resources and YOU.

And climate change has indeed resulted in millions of deaths, as it did I believe during the Little Ice Age. Ah!

‘High’ numbers of deaths were also used to scare the population during the so-called ‘pandemic’ in 2020 (and continuing to this day?!).

In UK in 2019, there were 600,683 deaths from a population of nearly 67 million, equivalent to 50,057 deaths per month, 11,552 deaths per week or 1,646 deaths per day.

Roughly speaking, 1% of a population dies each year.

During the ‘pandemic’ there were even claims of thousands of deaths per day in India, primarily, again, to scare us all. But India has a massive population – 1,366 million in 2019 – with 9.9 million deaths in that year, equivalent to 27,197 deaths per day.

So quoting a hundred deaths here or there in a sizeable country is, firstly, nonsense and, secondly, pure propaganda.

Finally, I remember the comedian Eric Sykes playing the role of an undertaker many years ago. He was asked how business was, to which he replied, “Not very good, it’s a dying trade”!

So according to some simulation, 170 people died?

A simulation from the same people who said the world would end in 2022 due to climate change, and that all the unvaccinated would die? Must be an accurate simulation then. No need to check the actual facts.
