“Reform UK will build a nation in which wealth is shared, not hoarded, says Nigel Farage in the Telegraph.”

Well I can’t read the Torygraph so perhaps this would make sense with more context but what on earth is he on about? We don’t need a nation to be BUILT – we already have one thanks. We just need a government that will STOP DESTROYING IT and GET OUT OF THE WAY and allow WEALTH TO BE GENERATED. What happens to that wealth after that is NOT THE GOVERNMENT’S BUSINESS (though experience shows that wealth tends to be spent or invested – “hoarding” suggests that literal cash is kept under the mattress or people buy assets that are completely unused, neither of which seem overly common).

Saved me a lot of typing. Cheers!

What the eff is he thinking?

And what of it if they want to hoard it?

That’s how you build a nest egg for difficult times and older age.

It’s called saving.

Indeed and saved money is usually invested which means it is shared.

I think it’s just a plane language ploy aimed at labour voters to make his policy sound a little different to the uniparty

We’ll see. I would probably vote for them if there were an election tomorrow but I can’t say I am that confident in him or them.

Agreed 👍
I’d do the same with my fingers 🤞

Excellent post, Transmission!
Isn’t “Shared Wealth” the very basis of Communism?

“Shared Wealth” as in “Common Wealth”…

“What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine also?”

Yes indeed. I don’t want to see Reform become some kind of Blue Labour party – they need to make the case for capitalism, private enterprise, low taxes, light touch regulation, personal freedom, national identity. All the stuff that the Tories pretended to believe in.

True. All the stuff that Rupert Lowe really DOES believe in.

I really hope he continues to play a part in UK politics

He did say that a new political party would be formed, but said there’s no rush, because we’re all stuck with Labour for the next few years. If I remember correctly, he also implied that there was no point in wasting energy on winning seats on local councils now, but to choose your battles well.

I’m with those who are patiently waiting.

I think the best we can hope for in the short term (next election) is that whatever he and others do pushes Reform in the right direction. I don’t think I will live long enough to see a political party elected that I could really get behind.

“The American President’s supporters love him because of his charismatic personality, not his principles or beliefs, says Matthew Lind in the Telegraph.”

How does Mr Lind know this? Seems preposterous to me. I am sure some of his “supporters” think like this, but if he suddenly started spouting Biden-like policies I expect we’d find out that most actually want him to at least say the right things. On Iran probably some disapprove, some don’t care and some are willing to cut him some slack as long as he sorts out other things.

So long as he doesn’t put ‘boots on the ground’, as his predecessors did, he’ll be fine describing it as a necessary police action and not a war… as I recall, he did something similar in his last term?

Yes boots on the ground would stretch his credibility.

I’m not overly keen on them bombing people.

Thanks H. It might be The Groan but at least it’s not behind a paywall.

JK Rowling’s friends: what I really despise about the likes of Jolyon Maugham and the old ponce is that they never actually say what it is they found so offensive or wrong in JK’s arguments. The reason being because they know they’ve lost before they start.

She’s a steadfast defender of the sex-based rights of females with zero qualms about sharing her opinions and challenging her critics’ warped perception of reality, therefore she will always be hated and labelled with the slur ‘transphobe’, because she’ll forever be viewed as a threat by these progressive, nitwit cultists. Hence why she gets so much hate including many threats of violence on the regular.

It’s very easy for people to hurl insults and unsubstantiated accusations from behind the safety net of a device ( often emboldened by a cloak of anonymity ), though. Look at the amount of men who’ve accused me of being a ”misandrist” on here over the years, yet not a single one has brought even a scrap of supporting evidence to the table, despite the fact this site has an archive. Anybody would think that some men can’t hack being criticized or challenged by a member of the opposite sex….And these will be the very same individuals that maintain they’re supporters of free speech. Just not the kind of free speech that contradicts or challenges their attitude towards the female sex, it would seem.

“Britain’s substations are bursting into flames. The answer might be more worrying than the Russians”

The simplest answer is the most likely, just like the UKs underfunded water infrastructure it will start to fail if not maintained adequately and as with the water supplies it is being asked to do more and more with less and less funding and a much greater population to serve

Maybe you are right. I also wonder whether it’s sabotage, as in the recent blackouts in Spain from “activists” cutting cables, ostensibly to steal copper, but the value of the copper is tiny compared to the resulting widespread national disruption to electricity supplies. So is it just more Unhinged Eco-Zealots in both Spain & Britain?

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.” Said Trump; he’s woken up, a cynic might say.

I’m certain that’s a fake clip. They’ve dubbed the swear word. Very easy to doctor videos nowadays and also very difficult to tell the difference. I can’t imagine Trump ( or any world leader ) ever dropping an ‘F-bomb’ on live TV. Had he wanted to use strong language he’d surely have said ”heck” or even ”hell”. He’s always very measured when he speaks, therefore I’m calling this out as fake.

Here’s the clip for those who didn’t see it;

The one I quoted was from GBN on-line, but I’ve heard it audibly from BBC World at One on R4, so I’m pretty sure it’s verbatim.
