London-Based ‘Hamas Operative’ Behind Greta Thunberg’s Gaza Flotilla

A man accused of being “a Hamas operative” based in London is a key figure behind Greta Thunberg’s Gaza aid boat, it has emerged. The Telegraph has the story.

Zaher Birawi, who was described in Parliament as a person with links to Hamas, called himself a “founding member” of the Freedom Flotilla International Coalition, which arranged the voyage by the aid boat Madleen.

Israeli forces boarded and seized the boat on Sunday, detaining the 12 pro-Palestinian activists it was carrying, including Ms Thunberg, as it attempted to bring a “symbolic” amount of aid to Gaza in defiance of an Israeli naval blockade.

Mr Birawi, a Palestinian-British journalist at an Arabic-language satellite TV channel in London, was at the launch of the Madleen a week ago, livestreaming it from its dock in Sicily. Ms Thunberg gave a speech before the boat set sail for Gaza.

In 2013, Mr Birawi was named by Israel as a Hamas operative in Europe, and is the head of the Europal Forum, which Israel designated as a terrorist organisation in 2021.

The Europal Forum has strongly denied any terror links, and in 2021 Mr Birwani received compensation after taking legal action against a financial database he said had wrongly placed him on a terrorism watch list.

He denied ever being involved in any illegal acts within the scope of terrorism crimes.

Speaking in the Commons in October 2023, Christian Wakeford, the Labour MP for Bury South, used Parliamentary privilege to name 63 year-old Mr Birawi as a Hamas operative living in Barnet, north London.

“He is listed as a trustee of a UK-registered charity, Education Aid for Palestinians, and publicly available video shows him hosting a 2019 event in London titled Understanding Hamas,” Mr Wakeford told MPs.

“Two weeks ago, Hamas launched the deadliest terror attack [the October 7th attack on Israel] the world has seen since 9/11. It is therefore a serious national security risk for Hamas operatives to be living here in London, especially where at least one appears to have done so through the use of fake documents in obtaining British citizenship.”

There is no suggestion that Mr Birwani was involved in the October 7th attack.

Hamas has been proscribed as a terror group in the UK under the Terrorism Act 2000 since 2021.

Worth reading in full.

Meanwhile it’s reported that Greta and chums – whose boat was sprayed with a white irritant ahead of being seized – will be forced to watch a video of Hamas’s October 7th atrocities – and Sweden has refused to get involved. From the Mail:

Sweden has rejected Greta Thunberg’s plea for help on board the ‘freedom flotilla’ after Israeli commandos intercepted the vessel on its approach to Gaza.

Maria Malmer Stenergard, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday that she believes Thunberg is not in need of support from the Ministry after the climate activist called on followers to pressure the Government into action.

“A great responsibility rests on those who choose to travel contrary to the advice given to a place,” she said, as protesters gathered in Stockholm to demand an intervention. …

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), which organised the voyage from Italy to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, said last night that the ship had come “under assault” in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Madleen was said to have been shadowed by speedboats and drones before ‘quadcopters’ surrounded and sprayed the ship with an unidentified “white irritant substance”, shortly before the IDF seized it.

Images showed the deck splattered with white liquid. Activist Yasmin Acar, among those on board, said it had been deployed by Israel and was affecting her eyes.

Good find! Hamas is part of The Muslim Brotherhood, which was driven out of Syria by the Legitimate President Assad and his father, before moving its headquarters to London, under the avuncular eye of Pakistani Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan.

And there is Greta smiling again, looking and dressing as much like a child as she can, in order to get sympathy and inspire others to protect her, even though she is now a 22-year-old woman who has never worked a day in her life, set up as a role model for western youth.

I remember reading how she forced her whole family to turn Vegan against their will, by refusing to speak to any of them until they did.
They should have told her to get a job.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition

This is some kind of Orwellian joke. The victory of Hamas would be a victory for mass-murder and religious tyranny

Then they should not have ignored their part of the deal in the Balfour letter / agreement from the start.
It’s pretty simple. If you dump on people from a great height there will be repercussions.

so Oct 7 was justified? The filming of rape ad murder and posting it on the Internet with glee, the kidnapping and murder of babies, all justified.
Tell me is Ukraine wrong to defend itself, or is it OK because they aren’t Jews?

I am sure the boat could have been torpedoed by accident, a case of mistaken identity or similar.

Maybe the world’s biggest useful idiot was destined to become the world’s most famous martyr, she just wasn’t actually aware of it, if this Hamas dude is behind it all. I mean, the jihadists must’ve thought all their Christmases ( OK, possibly not that particular festival ) came at once when she jumped from the eco loony bandwagon to the terrorist-supporting muppets agenda. Either that or she was banking on getting intercepted by Israel, thereby saving her bacon, and her flotilla of futility was consequently a complete damp squib and achieved precisely nothing of note except to further confirm what a complete and utter attention-seeking, deluded tit she is.

😁 Honestly, she’s obviously sold her soul to the devil ( or just George Soros, who most likely also gives her pocket money ) in exchange for eternal youth as she’s seemingly aging backwards and evidently still buys her clothes from the kids’ section. 👱‍♀️👀

I was surprised Israel needed to spray the boat with a white irritant as there was at least one already on board.

Perhaps he whispered sweet nothings in her ear but to be fair it was a brave undertaking given the potentially lethal consequences. Ask yourself if you would’ve undertaken such a journey, regardless of reason or purpose, even if it was to save your nearest and dearest. No you wouldn’t. You would’ve crapped yopur pants at the mere thought of it. Nothing detracts from the courage displayed that will be etched into her soul and the collective consciousness forever.

It would indeed be monumentally brave for one of us to undertake such a journey. But that’s because we know that death by stones or beheading awaits us, probably live on TV.

For her it’s an exciting little stunt, because she genuinely believes they would welcome her with open arms and definitely not rape her. She sees money signs and interviews from her echo chamber life, not reality.

The potential financial rewards might be there but nonetheless the threat of death remains because of what happened to previous boats. If you are interested in money then you play it safe. I don’t see this action as cynically motivated simply because of the level of courage required. You could ask a hundred ex-special forces people about this journey and not a single one would go on it based upon risk assessment.

Not really. For it to be an act of bravery she would have had to have understood the true risk of what she was doing.
as she has been living some sort of delusional fantasy for years now, all she would have seen is brave little Greta having to take on the world again.
The idea that she would have assessed the true horror of it all and done it anyway is not her style. She never does anything without a crowd of professional supporters.
My take is that she banked on being stopped by the Israelis so she could look like a martyr. They should have let her sail on!

Greta must be disappointed.
Personally I think there is a fair chance she would have found her true vocation amongst the Hamas fighters, making a seamless transition from environmental causes to jihad.
Perhaps, following in the footsteps of Shamima Begum, she could have married one of the terrorists, sorry, freedom fighters, popped out a few babies in quick succession and found a useful purpose, maybe sewing suicide vests, putting chopped off heads in wheelie bins or just being part of the female morality police.
She is clearly in desperate search of some meaning in her life.
I guess it’s not impossible that sooner or later her Hamas fighter husband would have had enough of her annoying mannerisms (even mass killers are only human after all) and arranged a tragic accident, blamed on the IDF.

Mogwai

Agreed. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see how much of a fake-ass puppet she is and also how completely staged it all is. Plus, who’s paying her an allowance? George Soros? Charlotte Gill would know;

”Greta’s silence on Sudan is not just hypocrisy. It exposes the algorithm of modern activism where visibility matters more than truth. Today’s influencers do not follow justice, they follow the camera. And the camera follows the narrative set by ideological machines like the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas has mastered the propaganda playbook, using deepfakes, choreographed grief, emotional bait, and viral testimonies to flood Western feeds with curated pain. Not all suffering is equal in this system.

Sudanese refugees, Uyghur prisoners, Iranian women, none of them serve the ideological agenda, so they remain invisible. Greta shows up only when the performance is polished and politically aligned. This is not humanitarianism, it is staged morality. The Muslim Brotherhood does not need to shout anymore. It scripts empathy and lets Western influencers deliver the lines. This is how extremism launders itself through climate marches and social justice slogans. What looks like compassion is often just well-produced complicity.” Ahmed Sharif

Ilam Pape has remarked how it is remarkable..how intelligent people who contribute much to the world lose all rational faculty when it comes to Israel.
I’m not sure how intelligent the owners of the comments below are but if I had thought I was entering a forum for intelligent debate I was naive.
Nothing but petty brains turned to mush below.
And no shame as the main issue is ignored in favour of childish comment about a person who can be irritating to say the least.

No realisation that youth is idealistic.

No recognition that a Jewish Israeli child survivor of Auschwitz fully supports her gesture. (That must really stick in the gullets of the petty minded below. I mean, really, what are your credentials ?

It is a pity you could not do this brave publication service instead of supporting unconditionally the politics of the abattoir.

Could you answer a question or two? By my calculation about 40 million people were violently displaced in the 20th century. Why is it that only those displaced in 1948, and only those displaced by Jews, merit the worlds unending and detailed attention? These events took place over 70 years after the event. So why, for example, is the violent displacement of hundreds of thousands of Poles in 1944 and 1945 – only three or four years before 1948 – of no interest to you? What’s so special about the population displacement that took place in 1948? I think we all know the answer, but perhaps you’ve got another answer.

I really do not understand where people on this forum get their information regarding Israel. Hamas and other Palestinian operatives broke out of Gaza on 7th October 2023 and went on the rampage, primarily against their captors, the Israelis responsible for guarding Gaza. Prof. Mearsheimer stated in one of the Judging Freedom videos (that I sadly cannot find) that the outbreak and attacks against Israeli military personnel were actually in accordance with international law since they were escaping from a “concentration camp” (Gaza) in illegally occupied territory (by Israel). Their attacks against civilians were, however, shameful and clearly not in accordance with international law. But many readers here simply assume that all Palestinians are terrorists and may all be destroyed, even women and the smallest of children. Even if it requires very little research on the internet to discover that the problem Israel/Palestine started well before October 2023 and indeed well before the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948. Anyone can just Google “Nakba”, for example. But after October 2023 all hell broke loose and Israel clearly carried out a “scorched earth” type of policy, carpet bombing Gaza right up to today: 90,000 tons of explosives have been… Read more »

Your bafflement is rooted in the fact that a) you are not looking at the whole historical picture; b) you are not taking into account that the government of Gaza is a terrorist organisation; c) you are not taking into account that the Koran requires muslims to wage jihad and to kill Jews; d) Hamas deliberately site their military operations under schools and hospitals because THEY DON”T CARE ABOUT THEIR OWN PEOPLE. You are judging them by your own western liberal standards and Hamas do not operate like that; e) Gaza has been given so much money in Aid that if they had used it to build their country instead of destroy Israel, they could have been another Israel. The Israeli’s built their successful country up from the dust of the desert. All the Palestinians can do is destroy. Why do you think that Egypt has a massive wall on their border with Gaza, extending underground to prevent them tunnelling into Egypt? Because they know what the Palestinians are like. Consider the stated aim of the Palestinians: to wipe out Israel. Consider the stated aim of Israel: to live in peace in their homeland (archeologically and biblically evidenced for thousands… Read more »

Thank you for your civil reply but I am afraid I disagree with your points. Israel only exists since 1948 so it is difficult to argue that its citizens are somehow owed that piece of land which used to belong to others. The idea that biblical or archaeological statements justify the right of a specific religious group to occupy an area of the world is, in my opinion, far fetched. The idea that I can claim my forefathers lived somewhere 3,000 years ago, i.e. my great-great-great-great-repeated 120 times-grandparents lived in area X, therefore I can throw out anyone living in X today, is simply ridiculous. Can any religious group then claim the same, e.g. Mormons, Jesuits … ? And Palestinian Arabs were always in the area, not just since 1960 (?) – no way did Israelis build up their country on unoccupied land. Hamas was reportedly democratically voted into office and during recent negotiations have repeated they are ready to relinquish their right to govern Palestine provided they are replaced by another group of democratically chosen Palestinians. I am afraid the idea they site their operations under schools and hospitals is pure Israeli propaganda. Numerous groups of doctors who have… Read more »

I’m baffled, but at your take on this.
one. Israel is obviously held to different standards than Hamas in your eyes. If they’d “broken out” and just shot people, that would be bad enough, but to rape and torture them whilst making videos is just sick! If they’d have that mentality to offer the world then maybe they should be confined!
Two. They are not in anything like a concentration camp. They have a sea border and borders with Egypt and Jordan.
they can move freely round the world any time they want too. Except the Egyptians and Jordanians don’t want them, as they have proved toxic to those countries in the past.
so easy to blame Israel isn’t it.
concentration camp my entire backside! Your average Palestinian has been trying to get rid of Hamas for years. No one allows a bunch of thugs to build bases under schools and hospitals unless they are terrified of saying no.
maybe think again about who is really holding Gaza’s population in captivity.
hamas do this because they know that the rest of the world will criticise Israel, and not the monsters who built the tunnels in the first place.

If you are convinced that all Hamas is a terrorist group and should all be shot then fine, but what has that to do with the 2.3 million Palestinians living in Gaza? I have not seen any videos of Hamas raping or torturing victims, and The Grayzone ‘proved’ that all such accusations were false. But I have seen videos of Israeli prison guards doing exactly that, on top of the unending accusations of torture and rape from the 12,000 or so Palestinians kept in Israeli jails, generally without charge and including children. They have a sea border but are not allowed even to fish outside a certain limit (3 km?) and, since October 7th, fishermen are easy targets for Israeli soldiers – which has also been documented on video. Gazans are living in a concentration camp which is surrounded by a fence with remotely controlled watch towers, equipped with machine-guns which are operated by the mostly female IDF members that were attacked on 7th October. You can see the fence on Google Maps. Anyone approaching the fence will be shot. There were a series of peaceful demonstration some years ago when Gazans lined up close to the fence and Israelis… Read more »

Thunberg must now be an embarrassment to Sweden. Have you noticed the dark haired female minder is always with her.
The reason Thunberg as a child received such ill deserved attention is because she is obviously, to put it in virtue speak, she is “special needs” and grown ups wanted to display their virtue, credentials.
Now she is a Woman, obviously ignorant, and directed and controlled by her users. Problem is, she is an adult now, obviously not mentally mature, but indoctrinated by anti semites, and the sympathy is no longer there. They need to find another child of weak mental capacity to groom. This one is obsolescent
