GB News’s ‘Anti-woke’ Comedy Show Faces Axe After Thousands of Complaints
GB News looks set to axe Headliners, its daily paper review show featuring predominantly ‘anti-woke’ comedians offering satirical takes on the next day’s headlines. The Telegraphhas more.
Presenters of the Right-wing, late night panel show appeared to suggest on Saturday that it could be taken off air within a fortnight.
Lewis Schaffer, one of the show’s panellists, posted on X: “I’m heading into the studio! I’ve been told by management that the show will be on air for another two weeks while they decide what to do!”
At the start of Saturday’s show, Mr Schaffer said: “We’re not allowed to talk about it.” Leo Kearse, the Headliner’s host, replied: “Thank you for not talking about it.”
GB News declined to comment on the show’s future.

The uncertainty comes after Headliners, a comic spin on traditional newspaper review shows, was hit with tens of thousands of complaints after one of its hosts appeared to suggest the LGBTQ+ community included paedophiles.
The remarks, by the comedian Josh Howie, are now the subject of an Ofcom investigation. In a segment discussing a sermon by a US bishop, which urged Donald Trump to “have mercy” on gay, lesbian and transgender children, Mr Howie quoted a statement from the bishop’s church calling for the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people. He said: “I just want to say, that includes paedos, if you’re doing the full inclusion.”
The Headliners segment triggered more than 1,200 complaints by viewers, as well as a petition signed by more than 70,000 people from campaign group the Good Law Project that has been handed to the regulator.

Agreed. I’m a gay man, I don’t know any paedophiles (that I’m aware of) but am absolutely not offended by Howie’s remark. Every segment of society has its share of paedophiles. Yep Pervert Month ahead where delivery company DPD decided last year to place a pervert flag on your house on their delivery progress map. I doubt many of the delivery drivers for them, Evri and Amazon are rainbow enthusiasts.
It’s not my call to make – it’s up to the management and shareholders of GB News. I don’t know what I would do in their shoes. Perhaps if I were rich enough I would take it to court and mount a huge publicity campaign and turn it into a political issue in the eyes of the public. But I wouldn’t bankrupt the channel for it I don’t think, or risk getting shut down – you have to pick your battles. It depends if they’d win in court. Anyway I was merely pointing out to the original poster that we are not “a country with a free press” as far as broadcasting is concerned.

The incredible irony of this is while some of the comedians are right leaning, just as many are left wing, even Labour supporters, including Josh Howie. Many are gay, like a lot of GBNews presenters, but I would guess it is mainly that the show is on GBNews that the serial protesters object to. Most have probably not even watched it and it is not meant to be a press review as you have on the BBC and Sky but a light hearted, humorous programme
That’s not the way it works anymore. We had one of those scarecrow events a few years ago. An Old Mother Hubbard shoe was left on a local green space well after the event. The young kids loved it. Parents brought them for picnics. I helped repair and paint it when it got damaged. Somebody complained and it had to go…
Same with the local market on the same space. Couple of residents complained about road closure and it had to close.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t how democracy is supposed to work.

I posted a BTL comment containing a dozen links to press articles that showed that paedophiles and transgenderism seem closely linked, supporting Howie’s assertion as factually correct. It disappeared in a few seconds.
Posts with lots of links get auto sent for moderation, presume a spam prevention measure, so it can take the mods a while to get to them. It’s there now.
