Falklands War Landing Craft is Decorated for Pride

The decoration of a Falklands War landing craft in rainbow colours to celebrate Pride has sparked uproar among veterans, who called it “entirely inappropriate” and said, “Our Falklands dead will be turning in their graves.” The Telegraph has more.

Foxtrot 8, which landed Royal Marine and Parachute Regiment soldiers on the South Atlantic archipelago, has been coated in a rainbow vinyl wrap.

Portsmouth Historic Quarter, which owns it, commissioned the decoration to mark the 25th anniversary of the ban on homosexuality within the Armed Forces being lifted. But the decoration has been criticised as disrespectful by veterans.

A retired senior Royal Navy officer said: “To paint a landing craft that was used in the Falklands War in pride colours is entirely inappropriate.

“What next? Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory in rainbow colours?”

Rear Adml Chris Parry, who was mentioned in despatches for his actions in the war, said the decoration was “quite divisive”.

“Frankly, this battle was fought and won 25 years ago when gays were openly allowed in the Armed Forces,” he said. “In fact, the first gay officer in the Navy was in my ship. He was allowed to come out quite openly.

“This is something that has been fought and won. The drum doesn’t need banging any more. It’s quite divisive, I think.”

Retired Colour sergeant Dean Ferguson, who served in the Falklands as a private in the Parachute Regiment, added: “Our Falklands dead will be turning in their graves.”

Lee Anderson, a Reform UK MP, said: “Pride flags have no place on naval ships, in our classrooms, or flying above Government buildings.

“Let’s stop making everything about what you like to do in the bedroom and get back to work.”

The landing craft is the first war vessel in British history to be wrapped in the Pride colours.

The redecoration was commissioned by the charity Fighting With Pride to celebrate “inclusivity” ahead of events marking UK Pride in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on June 7th.

The wrap is temporary and will be removed in September.

The obsession a lot of people in positions of authority and power in this country have with ‘Identity’ has to stop.

The vast, vast majority of people don’t care about anyone else’s sexuality or how they like to dress, or what they get up to between the sheets. That majority simply want other people to live their own lives and keep themselves to themselves so that they also can live their own lives and keep themselves to themselves.

Instead, we have other people’s lives constantly rammed down our throats. ‘Pride’ bollocks has to end.

The soppy woman who is CEO of Portsmouth Historic Quarter was on GB News to defend this but I couldn’t bear to listen. And we are going to get loads of this as we enter ‘pervert month’. Also in Portsmouth property company Land Securities refused to have a memorial to those who gave their lives to stop the slave trade that sailed from the port.

Then Land Securities and its Board and management should be ashamed of themselves. It is amazing how far up the corporate ladder wokery has travelled in such a short time.

I don’t think the CEO is reading the room very well; perhaps she spends too long in her echo-chamber rather what is happening outside it. Her property management company may well be able to set up “partnerships” with other organisations and trusts, all singing from the same hymn-sheet, and enabling it to be acceptable to the Charities Commission. This would enable it to tick all the right boxes to obtain funding from Portsmouth council and UK Government funding for the resulting charity-private-government complex. However, such complexes are unstable, being vulnerable to sudden changes in public opinion, in particular changes that make previously vote-winning policies into toxic legacy for political parties.

Its saddening that so many of these publicised failures, woke events, trans forcing stuff on women, poorly run public services happen to be ran by incompetent but obviously “placed” women who are there for their ideological beliefs than they are for any ability. It really gives millions of women who are competent, who actually like working with men, who know the difference between the sexes, who can take a schellacking because they screwed up without crying to a tribunal, who enjoy banter, and who are very good at their jobs, these token DEI women give the rest of their sex a bad name.
Politics, religion and sexuality should not be part of a businesses operation (unless they are speceifically business concerned with sex.politics.religion).
The failure of a CEO should eb sacked.

How do you celebrate “inclusivity” by telling the majority of the population that it matters a lot less to certain authorites than some privileged group with no merits of its own beyond its existence and its determination to get celebrated and feted for this existence?

Some people are not gay and it’s high time that Pride manages to get over that.

Inclusivity of the favoured group achieved by excluding the unfavoured.

Diversity by replacing the whole spectrum with just a narrow part.

Fairness for the cherished group achieved by being unfair to the rest.

Equality for the anointed by inequality for others.

Justice for the designated oppressed by injustice for the designated oppressors.

All this is “Social Justice”.

Desecration of a symbol of masculine valour, in order to pander to the narcissism and self-absorption of a tiny proportion of the populace.

Pride precedeth a fall.

It’s an interesting concept – “pride” in what exactly? Is it some achievement to be same-sex orientated?

Is it a degree course perhaps! An exam maybe? I am so proud because I passed with honours and I am now John Smith BSc Gay.

Are Straights not allowed to have Pride in being the norm? There should be a flag, a month, and lots of pronouns.

Insulting, disgusting and wholly disrespectful to those who gave their lives.

Proof that there is literally nothing Pride won’t wipe its fat shaved arse on.

They should just rename it “Shame” and have done. At least it’d be factually correct. Especially when we start getting the footage from the U.S and Canada of sleazy pervs parading down the street with their nobs out, giving eachother ‘golden showers’ in children’s paddling pools while dressed in bondage gear, which surely screams “Family-friendly event” to any self-respecting person that remembers what morals are and healthy boundaries consist of.🤯

Meanwhile, a demonstration of a proper female whack-job. Imagine crying about intolerance while simultaneously demonstrating both how intolerant you yourself are and just how triggered you get by a dictionary definition, aka: reality. I’m getting the impression she’d be offended if you accurately labelled her as ‘lesbian’, as I’m sure she identifies as ‘non-binary trans-masculine’, or some such make-believe codswallop;

Agree with this guy. All the sane LGB community ( who are not so narcissistic and one-dimensional as to let their sexual preferences define their entire identity ) are distancing themselves from this whole thing now because 1) They got the equal rights they were after years ago so further protesting is unnecessary, and 2) the ‘Pride’ bandwagon has been hijacked by the degenerate, Marxist child mutilation cult, who are not interested in rights or equality, only *privileges* which eclipse the hard won equal rights of women and the gay community. That is why this ideology/cult is both misogynistic and homophobic; ”We have become a society of idiots. Sometimes when you’re in ground zero of a moment it’s hard to keep perspective on the scale of what’s happening, but just as a thought experiment, mentally zoom out to 10,000 ft and look at this shit with as objective an eye as possible, and REALLY appreciate how absolutely batshit fking crazy this is. Like, yeah sure, it’s just a boat, but WHY? Why are we doing this? What possible value does wrapping a war vessel in rainbow colors bring? Is there anybody who genuinely believe this actually does anything positive for… Read more »

I think this permanent LGBT propaganda will generate a lot of resentment and loathing, even if not openly.

The gay habit of assaulting other men on the so-called men’s toilet to find out if they’re perhaps also gay toilet fetishists already generates enough loathing and resentment. Dito for randomly groping other men all the time. A straight guy who’d behave himself even remotely like at least a very vocal minority of gay guys do perfectly openly would find himself in constant contact with the police for “sex crimes”. But if only men are targetted, especially, small men, so-called “polite society” doesn’t care. It’s their fault, after all. Why didn’t they grow taller?

I might urge people to consider who or what is attempting, and succeeding in destroying the very fabric of a society, waging war, perhaps, against a population who value such things so highly. Question, has anything improved in the last 30 years? Are we better off at anything? Stuff like this is done intentionally, in my humble opinion, to both rile up a population and also eek a population, gradient by gradient to a reluctant acceptance of some sort of dystopia where everything valued is inverted.

Imagine painting a ship, tank, aircraft etc. that was in active service in pride colours rather than camouflage colours, is this what these virtue signalling idiots want to do next?, it would stick out like a sore thumb and be destroyed in minutes/hours.

So someone whats to stick their fundament in the body of a person with the same fundament, so what? big wup. The act is a basic animal act, all animals do it even barnacles. I don’t recall having a month of celebrations for women achieving the vote, I dont think there is a special flag or anything, it seems to go uncelebrated, but noone really minds because the aim ofequality was achieved. I don’t recall a special flag or celebrations being held for Catholics who were up until in living memory disallowed from taking up certain public positions, being allowed into various institutions, and I think, although uncertain about this, allowed to marry a monarch. The Jewish community laboured under similar restrictions over the past. No flags, special months, hours of tv dedicated. Because its part of the way things are in this country, as it is for Gay people, in fact as a protected group they receive advantages that millions do not. So can we just say guys and girls you did it, go and freely fundament and let us all get on with trying to get the country out of the debt ridden mess.

Not much I can add to earlier comments apart from (and I posted similar in the Telegraph comments on this) that I’m glad the landing craft I went ashore into Ajax Bay on 21st June 1982 with 45 Commando wasn’t painted in those colours. It was bad enough being in a camouflaged vessel.

Mind you if we’d all been ‘rainbowed up’, maybe the Argentine Skyhawk pilots would have pissed themselves laughing so much their bomb aiming wouldn’t have been as good and we wouldn’t have lost Ardent Antelope etc.

Co-opting the dead, trading on their memory and sacrifice in your cause is very low.

For shame.
