The reason I don’t give to many of the charities I used to is that all of them enthusiastically supported covid restrictions and “vaccines” and did nothing to defend the vulnerable people they were supposed to be helping.

For a fist full of roubles

I am reticent to donate money to charitites because most won’t accept cash donations but want you to sign a direct debit. The last time I did that I was almost immediately contacted by their (presumably paid) telesales arm to increase my donation. I am not falling for that one any more.

We used to get calls at our house from Christian Aid. I discovered they were funding communist terrorism in Africa so they have had no money since. I agree with all that has been written about excessive CEO salaries but also the political campaigning annoys me. They don’t even limit themselves to relevant political issues.

EG if National Trust campaigned for more gift aid or VAT relief it would be understandable (but still ultra vires, in my view) but to campaign on social issues now and 200 years ago is unacceptable so I avoid their premises.

Rules for charity status should be revisited so that clear public benefit is required and political campaigns do not qualify.

I agree. Tends to be the larger ones responsible for this, in my experience. Would be tempted to classify them all as not-for-profit.

I’m an NT member so I can vote for the non-woke stuff, and I do get to use their properties so it’s not just “giving”.

And lest we forget that it’s not exactly just Lucy Connolly that’s been wrongfully banged up for non-violent tweets. I think it’s only fair that all the other patriots left to languish in a prison cell get maximum coverage of their plight too. Remember Wayne O’Rourke, who never even attended a protest. This was his supposed ‘crime’, the kicker being that he was correct;

As long as people are being jailed for sharing their honest opinions online, which happen to be critical of government policy, and then on the other hand you’ve got men who never receive a custodial sentence for possessing masses ( because it’s never just one or two ) of child sex abuse images, then it can never be said that you have a fair and just justice system in the UK, because this screams ‘disproportionate’ like nothing else. Pure corruption, all throughout the establishment; ”Discussing Lucy Connolly’s appeal, Robert Jenrick highlights a man who walked free this week despite 12,000 sickening CSA images – while Lucy was jailed for a tweet. He says ppl are right to question if judges are applying rules correctly and they must be held to account.” https://x.com/Wommando/status/1922991257225204022 And as far as I’m aware, paedos cannot be rehabilitated. The fact that there’s a roaring trade in child sex abuse around the world is because it supplies the demands of men like this. There is no deterrent, they’ll just go to ground and be more careful in future because this degeneracy is hardwired in them. I’m afraid this ‘industry’ is never going to go away as long… Read more »

That is effing disgusting. The label of “beast” is now forever attached to this pos, at least that’s something he can never escape.

I suppose the Ukrainian firebomber is going to be found to have psychological issues.

Mentally disturbed or a far-right extremist? I have no way of knowing the answer, but I expect there will be many politicians and pundits who will be certain even in the absence of evidence.

I am not sure what the point of your comment is and I cannot read the original Israeli report (I cannot copy and then ask Google to translate the Hebrew text), but you refer to seven people injured in “Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ during April”. Judea and Samaria are terms used for the occupied “West Bank”, and inside the green line refers to Israel, I believe? Whatever. Has the BBC reported how many thousand Palestinians – mainly women and children – have been murdered by the Israeli genocide since the short cease-fire ended in mid March? Did the BBC report on Tuesday that Israel bombed two hospitals in one day? Did the BBC report on Wednesday that the Israeli military warned it would attack parts of Gaza City “with great force” and issued new displacement orders targeting several areas in the central and western neighbourhoods of the city? Did the BBC report these displacement orders came several hours after Israel committed yet another horrific massacre, bombing five homes in Jabaliya, killing more than 50 Palestinains, including 22 children and 18 women? Israel is on a rampage of bombardment across Gaza – at least 77 killed… Read more »

Dr Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist and MAHA’s newest leader, has revealed his plans for tackling America’s chronic disease epidemic by the time President Trump leaves office

I’m all for people improving their health. But I reject the idea that there is one person with saviour like qualities that can fix it all. That’s just dumb.

There are no saviours. Only personal responsibility.

I’m all for people putting information out there, caveat emptor and cui bono apply as always. The issue with the state putting information out there is that people take it as gospel, and then as we see here the state starts enacting nudge or worse policies to impose it on people.

If that what they’re doing – getting out of people’s way and not trying to influence their choices – then I’m 100% for it.

I’m a little sceptical of the Trump administration though. I’m seeing them using the power of the state to pursue specific agenda goals. E.g. tariffs to bring back industry vs just getting out of industry’s way by slashing regulations. E.g. Going to the Middle East and getting a huge Boeing contract (why is the US government selling planes on behalf of a private company).

I’m just a little wary that they’re doing a lot of banning this and stopping that – which is just active government perhaps in a different direction – rather than just getting out of the way.

All fair points and concerns I share though I think it’s reasonable to consider self sufficiency in essentials capabilities and resources and products at a national level as a special case because it’s important for preserving true sovereignty
