The Capture of the IMF and World Bank by Eco-Zealots is Hurting Poorer Countries Most
The Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, are arguably the luckiest generation in history. They grew up in a world reshaped by the end of World War II, decolonisation in Asia and Africa and a ‘rules-based international order’ under benign Pax Americana. The Bretton Woods institutions — the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank — were the backbone of this order.
By the mid-1990s, when the youngest Boomers hit middle age, Western Europe and Japan had risen from war’s ashes, while Asia’s ‘tiger economies’ (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore), Southeast Asian nations (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam), and population behemoths China (post-1978 Premier Deng Xiaoping’s reforms) and India (post-1991 Minister of Finance Manmohan Singh’s reforms) roared to life. The IMF and World Bank fuelled this growth with loans, infrastructure projects and economic discipline.

While they will not say anything in public, I think the Spanish grid collapse will have on those running the grids as it is a clear warning of how fragile they now are. Spain was lucky to have nuclear France as a neighbour as well as coal and gas Morocco to get their grid back up so quickly.
For information, if we lose our grid then the interconnectors are of no use to us as they are DC not AC links.
Thanks- I didn’t know that about the interconnectors.
Stand by for the inevitable – we now know not only in deep midwinter but also at high noon in summer…
“‘I’m a power engineer. The Iberian grid collapse makes me very afraid for Britain’”
…After seven decades of taking the miracle of mains electricity for granted, this OAP never really foresaw until this week what could be coming up next.
It only takes the knowledge contained in A Level Physics and Chemistry to understand the stupidity of NET Zero policies, yet most of the country was fooled. Or was it that they didn’t think, couldn’t add 2 and 2, and get 4, or is it 22? Yes, either that, or they had choices they couldn’t refuse, and strategic lapses in information access.
Does it matter that the interconnectors transport DC power? there is AC/DC converter at both sides no? So the DC power converts to AC to restart the grid? or am i missing something? Thank you for clarifying!
I believe the DC to AC conversion happens using power from the UK grid. If the grid is down, that can’t happen.
ok. interesting point. didnt think about it this way. thank you
It’s the lack of inertia that is the problem: the ability to resist a rogue force, and return to the status quo after a bit of give and take.
All started going astray over 50 years ago, thanks to those self-appointed guardians of the future at the Club of Rome and counterparts across the Atlantic. By their own admission:

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill… The real enemy is humanity itself.”
This is a well reasoned article. I watched Bessent’s speech on YouTube a few days ago. Sadly it was not widely shown, probably because it exposes the truth of the problems facing the western world at the moment. It also shows that this is not just about tariffs, it’s getting back to basics, balancing trade between developed countries and making sure that the world financial institutions do what they are supposed to do by helping poorer countries develop in an orderly way and not propping up the failed policies of the past 30 years. It’s well worth watching in full.

Thank you for posting this. Really good speech!
They are creatures of the UN, and therefore only operate in the interest of elites.
The whole UN needs dismantling, another good idea in principle (like EU, NATO etc.) destroyed and corrupted by those who wish to control us all.
Broken beyond repair.
The UN is nothing but a system of eternal world domination for the Allied powers of WWII. That’s obviously a good idea if you’re one of the people whose eternal domination is supposed to be guaranteed by it. And if not, it’s a spectacularly bad idea. And a failed one, at that. The idea was that the UN would guarantee world peace because it would provide a peaceful tribunal for states to settle their foreign policy disputes under the united auspices of the foremost miliary powers on this planet working together in the UN security council.
This has never worked and the notion has long since been abandoned. Instead, the UN has – by and large – been captured by revolutionary radicals, many of the dashing young communists in the 1960s – who seek to employ it as tool to bring the kind of “evolutionary world revolution” the world urgently needs according to their opinion.
Correct
With more information like this which would have to come from TV News Programs the ordinary citizens would begin to see how this eco scam works. The trouble is that almost all TV News is owned and controlled by the very same people pushing the scam. Only a very small percentage of the population will ever read articles like this one.
Excellent article. The desperate question for me is how long will it take not only for the majority of baby boomers (like me, 1959) but to the rest of the populace of the UK/EU to realise they are being fooled and to change tack be electing Trump-like administrations? The powers who control the MSM have to be publicly challenged; the end the majority follows blindly what they see on television (a tragic example was covid).
Forgot to say right now I live in Portugal and experienced the power outage first hand – in the Lisbon area around 9hours without electricity – just ridiculous. It stopped as the slow government decided to bring 2 local gas power stations on line.
