Transgender Players Banned from Women’s Football in England
Transgender women, i.e., biological men, are to be banned from playing women’s football in England following the Supreme Court ruling that trans women are legally men, as the FA follows its Scottish counterpart in bringing in a ban. The Telegraph has more.
Two days after it emerged those born male would be prevented from taking part in the female game in Scotland, the Football Association confirmed it was following suit.
The move came barely a fortnight after the verdict of the UK’s highest court and three weeks after the FA quietly brought in new trans rules that stopped short of a blanket ban. The Supreme Court ruling piled pressure on the likes of the FA and England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to follow other national governing bodies in only allowing those born female to play in women’s competitions.
Both the FA and ECB had been taking legal advice over the decision, which had earlier prompted the likes of the Scottish Football Association to act.
The FA said in a statement: “As the governing body of the national sport, our role is to make football accessible to as many people as possible, operating within the law and international football policy defined by Uefa and Fifa.
“Our current policy, which allows transgender women to participate in the women’s game, was based on this principle and supported by expert legal advice.
“This is a complex subject, and our position has always been that if there was a material change in law, science, or the operation of the policy in grassroots football then we would review it and change it if necessary. The Supreme Court’s ruling on the April 16th means that we will be changing our policy. Transgender women will no longer be able to play in women’s football in England, and this policy will be implemented from June 1st 2025.
“We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game.”

Trans women, (men) can continue to play the sport they love by joining a men’s football team. Easy really.
I bet you any money they won’t though, because the whole point is that they’re in denial that they’re actually men and they want to utilize all of the sporting advantages they have over women to trample all over female sex-based rights. It’s like the whole ‘Toiletgate’ drama. If it was only about having a waz they could just stop pretending to be women and go back to the Gents loos, but that’s not what this is about at all. This is about way more than where these men cosplaying women could go to spend a penny.

Good news but I do wish the legacy media would not keep on using phrases like “born female” which implies that there is some other way to be female. Sex arises at conception and does not change.

Great post. Spot on, I thought; ”Prior to about 5 or 6 years ago, none of us cared. Many of us championed people’s rights to live however they felt comfortable. Many of us applauded them for being brave enough to “be themselves”. I certainly did. We would all have been quite happy to have let that continue as it was. But when it became very clear that there was much more than wanting to change your name and appearance, when men used their newly acquired female costume and identity, to access female only spaces, sports, and, worst of all, as a means to access children, we had to say STOP. Well said. I used to work with a trans-woman (“she” had had all the ops so was actually a eunach). I never had a problem with “her” using the women’s loo etc.
The problem was the fully-intact “self-identifying” men-in-frocks …. who quite clearly WERE a threat to women and girls.
Yes I’d have thought anyone with an ounce of common sense would agree. Meanwhile, we’ve got female footballers saying how disappointed they are with the FA deciding it’s unfair ( and unsafe ) to allow men that identify as women to participate in women’s footie. Apparently some do actually want to play with/against men, would you believe? ( Not sure they’d say that if it were rugby ). Someone born male can NEVER become female, regardless of the bits they have chopped off – or in the case of many, retain because they WANT their male tackle … and the sense of power it gives them when they enter “female spaces.”
