Disney Scraps Plans for Snow White Premiere to Avoid Anti-Woke Backlash

Disney has scrapped plans to hold a star-studded UK premiere of its new Snow White movie over fears of an anti-woke backlash against the troubled live action remake of its 1937 animated classic. The Mail has the story.

As one of the most anticipated and expensive films of the year, it would only be right for Disney to roll out the red carpet for its forthcoming Snow White.

But the Mail can reveal bosses are refusing to hold a star-studded premiere in the UK for the movie over fears of backlash over ‘woking it up’.

Despite the release date not being until later this month, the film has already been lambasted for having a Snow White played by Latin actress Rachel Zegler and not including the “seven dwarfs” in the title.

What would usually be a big Leicester Square event full of lights and cameras for a £212 million live action remake of the 1937 cartoon film, instead there will be no celebration on British soil in an attempt to avoid anti-woke backlash. Instead there will be a “handful” of tightly controlled press events.

An insider told the Mail: “Disney are already anticipating an anti-woke backlash against Snow White and have reduced the media schedule to just a handful of tightly controlled press events.

“That is why they have taken the highly unusual step not to host a London premiere for the film and are minimising the amount of press questions that Rachel Zegler gets.”

The decision comes after Snow White actress Rachel Zegler was labelled “a walking PR disaster for Disney” having made controversial comments about her role.

In a 2022 interview Miss Zegler, 23, called the original film “dated” and critiqued elements like Snow White’s relationship with Prince Charming as a “guy who literally stalks her”, as well as calling the film “weird”.

An earlier interview also saw Zegler criticising Disney’s “problematic” portrayal of princesses and women in positions of power while noting how the film scared her as a child also only added fuel to the fire.

Beyond her comments, Rachel Zegler’s role as Snow White was met with further controversy in light of Disney’s recent push for more culturally representative storytelling.

Zegler, who is half-Colombian and half-Polish, was questioned as to why she was granted the role when Snow White is a character who hails from Germany.

All those dwarves look really creepy, not like the old Disney ones at all.
This movie will scare the kids!

Good. Kids were scared by the wicked witch/queen in the original. They should be scared of evil.

The film has gone through several recuts, editing, and filming. The initial dwarves were not dwarves as that was considered politically incorrect, instead they had multi ethnic actors, life size. This then did not play well so they introduced the strange AI generated things you have now. Don’t even get started about the star who from the start put her foot in it with woke pronouncements about how the original movie was not female empowering, and that the new movie was about a strong female who is the hero and didn’t need a Prince (paraphrasing). Its a mess,

“multi ethnic actors, life size” !!!??? I did not know that.

That’s correct, but at an even earlier stage the dwarves were supposed to be actual actors with dwarfism until Peter Dinklage complained that it’s not right, to which Disney reacted by scraping the 7 actors and casting a single dwarf actor and 6 non-dwarves of various ethnicity including a woman – which made it even worse.

You’ve just reminded me of this classic. Lots of memorable lyrics but I like the bit about not picking dwarves up because they’re not babies, they’ve got rights!😆
Not sure you could pack more ‘diversity’ in if you tried;

So now it should be called ‘Snow White and the seven other people’?

Since they removed them from the title I wonder why they kept them in the movie after all. A strong powerful Snow White surely doesn’t need any help, she could have easily built herself an even bigger house!

Anyway, another valid point raised by what people like Zegler call incels: is the story in this year’s most expensive movie happening on a different planet with three suns?

Should it not just be ‘Snow’ as we all know white is a racist word?

Isn’t the definition of a premiere, the first showing of a film. So if there isn’t a first showing there cannot logically be any subsequent showings?

Or could it be that they mean that there will be a premiere. It will just be without the fanfare?

Those watchers of the Critical Drinker on Youtube would have been fully aware of this very problematic film and time at Disney for I think about a year now or even longer.
If you have not seen anything by the Critical Drinker, I can well recommend him. It saves a lot of grief in paying for films and series that are then full of Girl bosses, and THE MESSAGE.

This might just be the very end of Disney, because I highly doubt they’ll learn anything from it and will continue to blame the audience for refusing to be educated. It was no longer the Disney I grew up with anyway…

To top it all up, Zegler is pro-Palestine while Gadot is Israeli, so boycotts from both sides are expected.

I enjoyed some the of the classics and one or two of the slightly more recent ones when my kids were growing up. Now I doubt I will ever watch another Disney film as long as I live. The same goes for most other recent output in the “arts”.

I’ve collected a few of the Classics on DVD, just to preserve them and in case I ever have a grandchild. I’ve boycotted everything they’ve produced since The Lion King and quite a lot before that.

The good thing about the word ‘problematic’ is that if someone uses it without irony then you know that they are a complete twat. Think about the word and the totalitarian schema that it implies. The whole point of fairy tales is to take you outside of your comfort zone that is their essence. The world can no longer tolerate these one dimensional onanistic wastes of skin.

Without wishing to be obscene I saw a ghastly Woke rendering of Snow White where she was sitting with her legs spread and she was urinating and spraying and the dwarfs with urine and they were wide-eyed and lapping it up. This is how they see our archetypes. They even try to habilitate such practices by calling them ‘golden showers’. I object to this term. Just because piss is yellow it does not give you the right to talk about goldeness in these terms.

I wonder why they didn’t go full woke and change the title to Snow Mixed Race and the Seven Little Men.

I guess they knew they’d be throwing $millions down the drain.
