Pharmacists Expected to Undergo Training in Climate Change and ‘Carbon Literacy’
Pharmacists in Wales are being expected to undergo training in climate change and ‘carbon literacy’ under the Welsh Government’s Net Zero requirements, despite having too little time to complete existing training demands. The Mail has more.
Pharmacists might seem busy enough doling out medications and getting to grips with the latest new treatments.
But they are now being expected to complete training in climate change and carbon literacy.
It comes as a body representing pharmacists say they already have too little time to complete existing training requirements.
Training on the extra, woke topics have been introduced in Wales, as part of a “quality and safety scheme” in line with the Welsh Government’s Net Zero Wales ambitions.
And chemists are expected to ensure the training is carried out by the end of next month to meet a target set by the Cardiff administration.
Community Pharmacy Wales has issued guidance to pharmacists, urging them to “provide an overview of climate change and sustainability in Wales/the UK and the world”.
They must also “evaluate the impact of climate change on health” and “explore good practice in sustainability as a global citizen”.
Community Pharmacies Wales added: “Pharmacy contractors can arrange for staff to access any training resource that at a minimum meets the learning objectives.”
Pharmacies can claim £642 from the cash-strapped Welsh NHS to cover the cost of the course.
Among the course modules listed is Carbon Literacy for Healthcare, which aims to foster a “deep understanding of the critical link between climate change and healthcare”.
The course description states: “Discover how climate change is putting the health of our patients at risk and explore the remarkable strides the NHS has made in leading the charge against greenhouse gas emissions.
“Learn how you can contribute and play your part in shaping a low carbon NHS that delivers exceptional care while safeguarding the health of future generations.”
The Welsh Government’s push for green policy comes as a lobby group representing pharmacists across the UK called for staff to be given more time for training to be “safe practitioners”.
Last week, the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists (GHP) launched a campaign calling for NHS pharmacists to be given 10% of their contracted hours as “protected time for learning, development and training”.
The guild said there is currently “no consistency” in the UK or within the four nations in terms of how much time for supporting professional activities pharmacists are given. …
It added that many pharmacists end up doing unpaid work in order to catch up with the required training or end up completing self-learning in their own time.

How many people in Wales have died of “climate change”?
Life expectancy at birth for England and Wales. Note the terrible effects of Climate Change since 1850.
That blip at the end? That was the panicdemic.
From 1841-1954 the most common age at death (MCAD) in England and Wales was under 1. More people died before their first birthday than at any other age.
In 1955 more people died aged 78 than at any other age. It looked like we had left infant mortality behind.
Apart from in 1962 and 1964 when the MCAD was under 1 again, the MCAD slowly improved to 90 years in 2011 – effectively the post first world war baby boomers (born in 1921) reached the end of their natural lives. Since 2012 MCAD has hovered around 85-88 years. The 2020 panicdemic didn’t show any obvious change with MCAD at 87.

Exactly right. Many people forget that it is “life expectancy at birth” and assume – looking at the graph above – that in the 1840s most people died in their early forties. The huge amount of infant mortality was what lowered the average.
Yes. The mean (the ordinary average) age at death in 1841 was 28 years. The median (the age under which half of the people who died that year actually died) was just 18. In other words, of all the people who died in England and Wales in 1841, half were 18 or under. What a time to be alive!
These charlatans seek to impose junk science on pharmacists who should value evidence-based medicine above all else in their work. And Welsh pharmacists go along with this crap? Their professional body should clearly state that “climate action” is utterly beyond their remit and have nothing to do with it. But of course they won’t; anything for an easy life.
“Carbon literacy” – another non-sequitur from preparers of word salads in Wales, working from a home comfortably heated by a gas boiler. The only chemical literacy known to the carbon atom is valency 4, manifest in carbon dioxide as two double bonds to two oxygen atoms, over 150 years ago first hypothesised to critically absorb infra-red back radiation from the earth’s surface transmitted into the earth’s atmosphere. Still an unproven hypothesis to this day, that downplays saturation effects and myriad other self-evidently interdependent variables of atmospheric physical science (axial tilt, solar output, cloud cover, ocean currents, volcanic eruption, etc, etc, etc). In short, noddy voodoo science, specialised in compressing the axes, cherry picking the start point, and drawing the asymptote off the graph at the most expedient point in the narrowest window of geological time. Tell that blast of scientfic reality to the pharmacists instead. Pretty dull job, truth to tell – I’d rather pharmacists focus energies on the essential core task of dispensing right type and right number of pills every time. Since the only risk is that the Far Left government has taken money from pensioners that they could have used for keeping themselves warm during the hottest January and February evah! they won’t learn much. Another frosty start here in Surrey, too cold for my early morning blast of heating to trip the thermostat before the timer kicked in, and as of last Saturday I have used 25 cu ft of gas more than this time last year.
I have experience in a Pharmacy here in Wales, they have to give you a short interview and fill a form for certain medications, she was embarrassed to ask, you’re not a woman are you etc, she laughed and moved on quickly; I didn’t even respond to her. But all this has a serious side, these are supposed to be health professionals who we must trust (to a certain extent since 2020) and they are forced to entertain this pseudoscience!

That isn’t how civilisation works I’m afraid. Western civilisation could be described as an attempt to keep barbarism at bay. Pharmacist’s would do much better learning about the efficacy and application of HCQ and Ivermectin for early treatment of some viruses and as a prophylactic. It would would be beneficial for their integrity and patients.
